The Chapel by the Sea (Tybee Island Wedding Chapel)

First, let’s talk about the positives. The venue is stunning, and the way they have things arranged creates a seamless flow for your big day. It provided a picturesque backdrop for our ceremony and reception, which we truly appreciated. However, we encountered a significant issue that marred what should have been a perfect day. For an investment of $10,000 for the venue we expected a comfortable environment for our guests and ourselves. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was inadequate. We found ourselves profusely sweating, and after numerous attempts to address the issue with staff, it became clear that it was not being taken seriously. As the bride, I had to leave my reception and food to personally approach a security guard to request the AC be turned on, only to be met with resistance. He informed me that it couldn't be adjusted because it could potentially cause HVAC issues. In a moment of frustration, I asked them to contact the owner to find a solution. Since everyone was visibly sweating and not interested in celebrating. During this time, all the ballroom doors were opened, letting in not only some fresh air but also a swarm of bugs, which made our dinner quite unenjoyable. The bridal suite, where I and my bridesmaids spent the day preparing, was also uncomfortably hot. We had invested in a professional makeup and hair artist that traveled from out of town and we feel that was wasted, my hair and makeup had to be completely redone by my maid of honor before the ceremony because of the temperature of the venue. The day after the wedding, we spoke with the new owner, who was gracious and apologetic about the staff's behavior and the discomfort we faced. She was kind and easy to communicate with, but it remains unsettling that, after pouring so much into making our day special, we didn’t receive any concrete solutions to address our complaints—beyond an apology. In conclusion, while Tybee chapel has great potential with its beautiful setting and ease of setup, the lack of attention to guest comfort—especially for the amount of time & money spent—is concerning. It’s a bittersweet reflection on our special day, and we hope that improvements can be made for future couples choosing this venue.

apel upstairs is amazing on its own and having everything in the same location was perfect for the evening. I highly recommend working with them, we had a great experience and loved being able to pick all our vendors rather than having specific ones required by the venue.

ded swiftly. The chapel is magnificent, and the grand ballroom was perfect. We had 107 people. The dance floor was the perfect size, the tables were excellent and the chairs sturdy and comfortable. We had plenty of time to get ready in the bridal suite which was the perfect size. We had 2 bathrooms to use, and the dressing area was a nice size. The groom and groomsman had a nice size room as well with a bathroom. The chapel was the highlight of the day. From the moment the double doors swung open, and my daughter walked through them to be greeted by her father and walk down the aisle to the kiss after they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs., the chapel was beautiful. Every guest complimented us on the venue. They adored it. The gasps I heard when Jillian entered will be in my mind forever. We did not allow use of cellphones, because we wanted to see everyone's face when walking down the aisle. It was a great decision, although some friends and family did use their phones, so we have a few pictures. We are waiting for the photographer's pictures. We can't wait. Jillian and Matt even went to the beach for sunset photos. The cocktail hour/bar area was again the perfect size. We used 3 bartenders and were happy about that decision, although 2 would have been sufficient. We also added a late light snack which was served in this room. It went over very well. The outside of the venue was perfect too. Many guests wandered out for the bathrooms, to sit on the swing, chat and catch up. It was lovely and again our guests complimented this area as well. We opted for sparklers and a convertible car with driver for their farewell, and I am so happy we did. The couple had their last dance alone in the ballroom and we were all outside with the sparklers for their exit. It was such a beautiful moment. Again, I can't wait to see the photos of that. I cannot say enough good things about Tybee Wedding Chapel. It is simply a fairytale wedding venue and I highly recommend it. Our guests all rented cottages for the weekend and they loved getting away to Tybee. They enjoyed the island so much. I had been worried about it, because most weddings have a room block at hotels, but our guests loved it and really made the most of their time there. We did recommend the DeSoto Hotel to guests that did not opt for a cottage and my guests liked it. So, I would recommend this hotel if you really wanted to block rooms. It has access to the beach and is close to all the action of Tybee. Thank you, Alexis and the Tybee Wedding Chapel Team.

uiring about the space and requesting a tour to meeting her again on our Wedding Day to make sure everything is in place. We loved that the areas for the ceremony and reception are in the same place with beautiful areas outside for photos and cocktail hours. A lot of other vendors in the area have familiarity with the space so that was a plus too. Bridal and Groom Suites were conveniently located next to bathrooms and provided enough space for everything we needed. The stairway provides a dreamlike entrance into the reception. (Our bridal party entered from the side.) You can change the lights in the reception area. The cocktail space worked perfectly for cocktail hour and during our reception. (We had our photo booth in there too.) We wouldn't change a thing about the venue. It was perfect!

Intimate, yet appropriately sized. Gorgeous exposed wooden beams. Warmth in color that would match any wedding color palette. The acoustics make sound equipment unnecessary. A selling point for us was the equally impressive Grand Ballroom that is located right below the chapel. Seamless transition from ceremony to reception. If you are looking for an all-in-one venue that is easily accessible, appropriately priced, with a staff that is immensely helpful (provided multiple rates, known vendors, and quick communication), the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel should be at the top of your list.

o warning, and they sent over photos and floor plans whenever we asked for them! It was so convenient to have the ceremony and reception at the same location, and the different venues were so seperate it felt like two different events. Awesome venue!

The day of no help with chapel speaker system so were unable to use speakers and microphones , layout was not correct and no communication about making sure it was right before the day of. For the amount of money paid it was like I only paid for the space and nothing else.

The only downside we found was that the bar was in a separate room then the reception so people were all spaced out and would get caught up talking by the bar instead of the reception area but this is no fault of the venue just an issue we found. Great for cocktail hour! Alexis was so nice and awesome meeting all of our needs/questions. We would definitely choose this place again if we had the chance!

walked in, we both knew it was our venue, no hesitation! We loved the separation between the chapel and the ballroom, especially with the bar for cocktail hour. This gave our wedding a nice flow, without anyone getting "bored" of sitting in the same area for 6 hours. Other reviews have said it, but there was nothing really needed in the chapel to make it more special, it was breathtaking in its own right. The ballroom had the option of round or rectangular tables, which is actually something weird I was really passionate about wanting. The real small but amazing detail that I loved were the chairs. They are so much nicer than the plasticky chairs you get at most venues--there was no need for a chair cover! We worked with Melissa and she was so kind and helpful. Obviously we got married during COVID so there were many things up and down in the air and she was always so patient with any frantic questions or last minute changes. Our guest list started off 100+ but we ended up with 50 guests and the venue felt perfectly sized--not too empty, which I was worried about. There are a million things I am sure I am forgetting to highlight, but this was really the perfect venue and I could not be happier we chose it!!

The ceremony space is so gorgeous that it needs very minimal decorations and the ballroom is spacious and allows the perfect amount of room for all your guests to enjoy themselves.

nnect. There was supposed to be a member of the chapel staff there for the actual event, and there was not. Unfortunately, we had some thunderstorms and we lost power at the chapel for a brief moment just before the ceremony began. Luckily, it came back on quickly, but it did blow a fuse to their projector screen. My planner had some difficulties getting in touch with the staff to get the problem resolved, and when they did send someone out, they were unable to fix it. This was not a major deal in the grand scheme of things, but I was disappointed that I was unable to play a slideshow I had created for my late father during my father-daughter dance. I understand the weather cannot be helped, but it would have been helpful if staff was present, or able to be reached easier, and my planner didn’t have to spend time trying to reach them. Otherwise, the venue itself is stunning and we still love the beauty it holds!

Halfway through our planning process with the chapel we then met Summer, who continued to help us out and answer literally every single question we had or could think of. As a bride, you worry that you are super annoying with your thousands of questions but Summer patiently helped us. She also let me call last minute during my bridal photoshoot and let me get my pictures done at the chapel (because it was pouring down rain & my outside pictures were not going to happen). I had sooooo many people the day of our wedding say “this is seriously the prettiest wedding I’ve ever been to”. It was a lot of money for us to fork out but we don’t regret getting married there! It’s so worth it! The only advice I’d have is to ask beforehand how to work the lights for the reception/dance floor because the chapel workers leave and the only person that is there that late is security and they didn’t know how to help us with the lights.

Many of our guests are still raving that our wedding and reception was one of the most fun and beautiful that they have ever attended. We would HIGHLY recommend the Tybee Island Wedding Chapel and Grand Ballroom to anyone getting married in the in the Savannah/Tybee area!
