This is a difficult review because on one hand the wait staff, the food, and the venue itself were lovely. The food was wonderful as well as the staff serving. The value of that wa...
s worth it.
However, the pre-event service was horrendous. We worked with Carolyn and although she is a lovely person, she was extremely disorganized. She did not present options and made pushy suggestions. The prices were changed constantly and if you weren't detailed oriented you would have missed the changes. She would "forget" things that were discussed and therefore we would need to have repeat conversations. It got to the point that I hired a wedding planner for the day to make sure the details were done correctly. It also prevented me to have to have future conversations with her. This frustration is why I did not give them a higher overall rating.
The Charles Hotel provided the perfect backdrop (as well as responsive, caring and generally wonderful staff) for our wedding ceremony and reception. No complaints here!
We loved having our wedding at this hotel. Jennifer was wonderful to work with, the venue was more than accommodating, and the location cannot be beat. We would highly recommend ...
The Charles to anyone looking to have their wedding in the area!
We chose The Charles Hotel as the location for where we would get married this past New Years Eve. We booked the space in the early summer and started planning with Sarah Chatigny...
at The Charles. The wedding was wonderful and our guests loved the hotel. The food was fabulous, as expected, considering how good the food is at Henrietta's Table and we enjoyed choosing the menu. Sarah was very laid back and flexible which was a relief after meeting some wedding planner types that were a bit too high strung and just made me nervous. The only minor negative was that we got married in The Kennedy Room, which is a lovely room, but looked a bit odd in the ceremony - primarily because of the brown chairs. Otherwise, the event couldn't have been better and we were incredibly pleased!! We would highly recommend this hotel to other couples looking for a venue in the Boston area that can truly handle all aspects of a wedding.
My husband and I wanted amazing food at our wedding, and we got it at The Charles Hotel. The venue was fantastic, the food and cake amazing, and the service was beyond expectation...
. The entire weekend felt like a dream.
It was my husband's dream to get married at The Harvard Memorial Church followed by an American reception in Cambridge and there was no better place than The Charles Hotel overlook...
ing Harvard Square. Thank you to Sarah Chatigny and the entire staff at The Charles Hotel for turning our ideas and inspirations into reality starting from the day of our tasting until the big day. The Regatta Bar was transformed into a cozy, intimate space to share delicious food and fun with our 100 guests. The service was seamless and all of our guests were raving about both the quality and quantity of food starting from the cocktail hour and ongoing throughout the evening. The pastry chef also created a beautiful multi-tiered cake with sugar paste orchids that was almost too beautiful to eat. It was just like the picture I provided to them. It was a night that we will never forget. There were multiple weddings that weekend, but we felt as if ours was the only one with all the attention to detail provided by all at The Charles Hotel. We highly recommend this venue.
We had our wedding here last week and I can not recommend it enough. It was gorgeous, food was delicious and all our guests enjoyed themselves. This is a beautiful spot for a city ...
wedding and it surprisingly did not break the bank. Although the price per person (for food) is expensive $100+ their food and beverage minimum was $8500, much less than other, crappier venues. The only reason I didn't give the overall rating 5stars was because the slight confusion that occurred halfway through the planning process. Our original planner left her position there and so our signed contract was inherited by someone else. This became slightly difficult/confusing when trying to confirm previously agreed upon prices and timing. I doubt this would happen to someone else but it was a little frustrating to deal with as a stressed out bride. In the end, everything was perfect and all the staff really stepped it up on the big day (which is all that really matters in the end).
