The Chocolate Rose

The Chocolate rose was amazing for our 9/28 wedding. Vanessa was very organized and easy to work with. She did a great job setting up the desserts, and they all went so quickly. Our guests loved them!!!! We did a dessert table, so guests could grab them and mingle. It was such a great idea!

Vanessa made us an absolutely exquisite gluten free cake - making sure we didn't have to sacrifice taste or style at all. We went with her Pink Velvet recipe, which was delicious and beautiful. She did amazing loose rosettes and brush embroidery, and customized the color of the buttercream to match my dress. The cake was gorgeous AND delicious. Not to mention she delivered it all on a super short timeline since we couldn't make it to the Cape until just a few weeks before our wedding for the tasting! Vanessa was great, her shop is beautiful, and her cakes are to die for.

As a detail-oriented, hard-to-please culinary professional, a lot of research went into selecting the pastry chef for my daughter’s September wedding. After reading many online accolades for “The Chocolate Rose,” and viewing impressive confections on its website, we scheduled a tasting with pasty chef, Vanessa, and looked no further. Vanessa’s desserts are professionally crafted, beautifully presented, and made with fresh, quality ingredients. We wanted elegant, European-style pastries, and she offered just what we were looking for, although she creates a great variety of selections. On the big, day, we could not have been more pleased with everything. Vanessa had communicated with the venue and florist in advance, and she and her team seamlessly executed a stunning dessert table, their presence going completely unnoticed, as guests dined. (To assure their finest quality and correct temperature, the desserts are delivered and displayed just prior to serving time.) Everything was absolutely correct, beautifully presented, styled just as we’d requested, and simply delicious—a perfect execution! While she is extremely busy and can sometimes leave you wondering a bit, she somehow keeps track of it all and gets it right—trust her! We recommend “The Chocolate Rose” without hesitation, and look forward to calling upon Vanessa for our next occasion.

Vanessa was fantastic! My fiancé and I knew we didn’t want a cake for our wedding day (we both don’t really like it) so we decided on a dessert table. Vanessa was great! We sampled a nice assortment and then based on our responses and what our guests like she composed what would do well. SHE WAS SPOT ON!!! Everyone loves all the little desserts!!! She is very responsive, personable, even the display was adorable!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!

Vanessa was so easy to work with!! I had to do a speciality gluten free cake and it didnt taste gluten free at all. She walked my fiance and I through every detail down to the cake platter. The Chocolate Rose is a vendor I will highly recommend to my friends and family for future brides/ grooms !

The Chocolate Rose was exactly what I was looking for. Stylish, elegant cakes that taste as good as they look. Vanessa sat down with us prior to the wedding to go over the details of what we wanted and then truly blew us away with what she came up with. The cakes aren't overly sweet, but pack flavor and freshness. They even delivered to our venue off Cape (about 2hrs away)! I highly recommend and will definitely be using them again for future events.

My fiancé and I HIGHLY recommend Vanessa. Our cake was beautiful and delicious! She has so many flavors to choose from and she sends you home with extra cake to try after the tasting. She even includes a fresh "top tier" cake in her wedding packages so that you don't have to eat frozen cake on your anniversary.

For our wedding we had a sweets table instead of a cake. Vanessa did an amazing job incorporating our theme into the sweets table. It looked pretty and everything tasted amazing.

Vanessa was amazing!!! From start to finish. We had one meeting with her and from there she could put together the perfect display based upon us and our theme!! She incorporated both of our family heritages in the display and it was amazing! Most of the cupcakes were gone by the end of the night and our guests are still talking about how delicious they were! If there was anything we were NOT concerned about the day of our wedding, it was our dessert table! From start to finish our experience with Vanessa and the Chocolate rose was phenomenal! Vanessa was able to execute the most incredible dessert table for our wedding guests, that included all of the fine details of our wedding, all while including an intimate and delicious cheesecake just for the groom and I to share together. Right from our initial meeting it was clear Vanessa was very attentive to detail, professional, and an absolute master in the pastry industry! Her recommendations, creativity, and passion for what she does made our vision for our dessert table come to life! Our wedding guests are STILL talking about the quality and the presentation of our desserts! The Chocolate Rose was amazing!! We used them for our wedding cake and our favors for our wedding. Their work and attention to detail was incredible! The cake was exactly what I wanted - simple, elegant, all white, and so delicious!! For favors we had individual black and white cookies that the Chocolate Rose boxed and packaged using boxes we provided and stickers they made that went perfectly with our wedding theme!

Vanessa is the most talented baker. Not only are her cakes delicious and magnificent looking, her desserts are breathtaking and amazing too. She made the sweetest part of the wedding the most fun to choose. Our guests still talk about the dessert table she created for us and the delicious wedding cake. We loved our wedding cake and the dessert table was a total hit! Vanessa really put in the extra time to make the dessert table look like a work of art. Everything was extremely delicious. We will definitely use The Chocolate Rose again in the future!

Vanessa did a fabulous job with our 4th of July wedding cupcake display. It looked amazing and everyone loved the cupcakes- we ate them ALL! Vanessa is a pleasure to work with and a fabulous baker!

Vanessa and the Chocolate Rose were a pleasure to work with on our big day! We had a small wedding (about 40 people) on the cape and Vanessa was able to accommodate us when other vendors could not. We had a dessert bar at the wedding - guests loved it (s'mores were the top hit!). We also added to our order the week of the wedding and again, the Chocolate Rose made it happen. Highly recommend!

We were so happy with Vanessa from the Chocolate Rose, from the planning process to the cake delivery, she made everything very simple for us (and gives VERY generous portions for cake tasting--which is a delightful treat). During our initial meeting, I could tell that Vanessa was truly focused on creating a cake that captures more than just my pinterest pins and asked about the atmosphere we hoped to create at our wedding, inspiration from my dress, and our unique styles--and we were very happy with her prices, as well. She worked seamlessly with our florist to create a stunning 4-tiered semi-naked cake with flecks of gold leaf and three delicious flavors (because we couldn't choose just one). Her cake was so beautiful, its photo got its own page in our wedding album.

Our wedding cake was fantastic. We had 2 flavors: lemon and chocolate-raspberry combined in semi frosted butter cream cake. We went with sugar flowers and leaves for artistic touch! Vanessa was extremely professional, friendly and approachable. I enjoyed tastings before and all the details that Vanessa brought in terms of flavors, frosting and linen. Unlike many individual vendors, the chocolate rose provides a great online booking and payment system! Overall, we were quite glad to have picked the chocolate rose for our special day.

We are so thankful that The Chocolate Rose was able to make our daughters wedding cake! It was so beautiful and delicious, beyond our expectations! Vanessa from the Chocolate Rose does amazing work! We booked her to do a cupcake display for our wedding and she executed everything perfectly. We opted to have 5 flavors with various decorative designs. Vanessa was able to decorate our cupcakes perfectly in line with our nautical themed wedding, even matching the frosting to our color palette. She also made us a beautiful cutting cake (which we enjoyed the next day) that was the exactly what we wanted. Vanessa also did our display setup and it was flawless. She pulled in nautical details to complement the venue and the cupcakes that far exceeded my expectations. Our guests thought everything looked perfect and tasted delicious (the 11 dozen cupcakes we ordered were gone!) and I am so glad that we used the Chocolate Rose for our wedding day. Absolutely beautiful, delicious gluten free cake! From the tasting, to the design process, to the final product, Vanessa delivered! She also did the deserts for my bridal shower (all gluten free), which were fantastic! None of my guests could tell the difference. We could not have been happier with the outcome of our wedding cake! If there were more stars to give, we would gladly give Chocolate Rose more! Vanessa was a delight in helping us pick out the cake size and flavors. Vanessa was also so kind when helping us design our cake and she did such a great job at bringing all of our visions to life. At the tasting, we knew right away that our guests would fight over it. When we saw the cake on our wedding day we were so pleased, we felt that this was one of the best features at our venue! We had a small wedding, (around 70 guest) and we literally heard from everyone how much they liked the cake. Many of them told us that they had to have multiple pieces of cake because every flavor was so delicious. Some even asked if there was any more cake hidden away and they were surprised when they found out that the cake was Gluten Free. Our flavors were Coconut Rum, Black Forest and Strawberry Almond so not just one lousy Gluten Free flavor. We will definitely go back for not just cakes but all things Vanessa makes, for our next events. She is truly amazing and so easy to work with. We won't hesitate to recommend The Chocolate Rose to any of our friends not only for a wedding but for any special occasion!

As soon as my daughter and I met Vanessa from Chocolate Rose we knew she was the one that would create a special dessert table for my daughter’s wedding. My daughter got married this past weekend (10/28/2017) and the dessert table was just amazing. Vanessa is a genius at creating a table design that was elegant, gorgeous and every dessert was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The guests thought the entire display was exquisite and we got some many compliments. It was perfect, had the wow factor and well beyond what we expected..

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Vanessa and the Chocolate Rose were recommended by our venue and we couldn't be more happy with the results! We had a 100 person wedding with a 3 tier cake and went with a different flavor per tier (chocolate raspberry, chocolate champagne mousse, and my favorite- the fireside favorite aka s'mores). The tasting was lovely and super fun as I went with my teenage cousins since my fiancé wasn't able to make it. She executed my cake requests beautifully and the end result was just stunning. We went with a darker grey icing with gold accents and she was super willing to go along with this more non-traditional request (and figure out how to make it taste great). Added bonus for Instagram loving people- Vanessa keeps her feed up to date so you are able to see her most recent creations through your whole planning process. Would HIGHLY recommend the Chocolate Rose to future couples!

Absolutely OUTSTANDING! Vanessa spent a lot of time with my husband and me discussing the design for our wedding cake and was very communicative during the whole process. It was absolutely gorgeous - just as I had imagined! We had 3 different cakes for the three tiers: pink velvet, mudslide, and lemon, all with a perfect buttercream frosting. Our guests were overwhelmed with how beautiful and delectable the cake was. Very impressive!

I'm gluten free, so I know how hard it is to make a delicious gf cake...and Vanessa did it! None of my guests could tell and everyone said it was amazing. Vanessa made an original design on our cake, incorporating our wedding invitation design. It was beautiful, tasty, and she was wonderful to work with.

Vanessa did an amazing job with everything. The desserts were all delicious and the display was beautiful. We did a spread of different mini desserts for our wedding and everyone loved it. She was very easy to work with and great at helping us plan and decide on everything. We are from out of state but I am sure that we will be calling her again when it's time for an anniversary celebration on The Cape!!

She was so patient with us throughout our planning process; she set up a second tasting for us when we couldn't decide on our final flavor, she made a second gluten free cake specifically for my sister at the wedding, and when I couldn't find the right pedestal, she let me rent her most beautiful one! We had such a great experience with The Chocolate Rose. She has so many cake flavors and we got to taste whichever ones we wanted and the sample size was huge! And we got to keep the leftovers! All of the favors were absolutely delicious. She created a beautiful wedding cake for our wedding. I will definitely contact The Chocolate Rose for any of our cake or bakery needs in the future.

Once my mother got her hands on the menu options that Vanessa offered for wedding desserts, we knew that we were going to work with her. The options are endless and she makes things so customizable. Vanessa typically recommends 5-7 items for a dessert table and we ended up going with 12! It's just so yummy! She also set up such a beautiful display at our wedding -the guests couldn't get enough!

Vanessa is a treasure. She's such a joy to work with! From the very first meeting with her, we instantly hit it off. She's kind, knowledgeable and engaging. She listened to our ideas but more importantly got to know us as a couple-- what made us special, what was unique to our relationship. We came in with pictures of other cakes that we liked, but had other ideas we wanted to incorporate and did not know how. We're archaeologists (we met on an archaeological dig) so we wanted to include that in our special day. She took that and ran with it, giving us all sorts of ideas of unique ways to pay tribute to our profession and our story. Her suggestions were things I would never have thought of on my own, but would make our day uniquely us. She never let us settle for something we had just seen on Pinterest. She is an artist and really takes the time and energy to make the perfect cake for each couple. I was really nervous about the final outcome of the cake, as I was unsure how it would all come together (we'd never seen anything like it, after all-- how many archaeologist cakes are there?) but it was better than we ever could have imagined. It came out better than perfect. Her craftmanship and attention to detail was astounding. We gave her a really complicated image to replicate, in a small and cramped space, and she executed it flawlessly. We couldn't believe it! It was the perfect centerpiece and everyone couldn't stop saying how amazing it was. She also provided us with archaeology themed cookies to accent our tea bar, and those were fabulous as well. We couldn't have asked for a better treat! And, to top it all off, Vanessa's cakes are HANDS DOWN the best cakes we have ever had. The unique and expertly crafted flavors are so yummy and moist. I could quite literally eat her cakes (and cookies) for the rest of my life and be so happy doing it. Her frostings are so flavorful and rich, but you won't ever feel overladen with sugar and sweetness.

I had been looking forward to our cake since the taste testing. It was as good as I remembered. Vanessa was great to work with and made the cake look just how we wanted it to. It was a great size and bigger than I expected (we had it for 75 people since we got a sheet cake for 50 to provide a different flavor and save money). Even though the contract had the sizes, I was nervous it would be small. We were lucky to even have some left over to take home with us. She also worked with us to provide some cookies to help out with our traditional Pittsburgh Cookie table. Everything came out great.
