Downtown Memphis Wedding Venue on the River

Please note: we will be renovating our sanctuary and reception area from January 2024 through May 2025, and unfortunately will not be able to book any weddings during that time frame. The Church of the River (First Unitarian Church of Memphis) is an ideal and affordable location for Memphis weddings: a beautiful sanctuary (designed by famed architect Roy Harrover) with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the mighty Mississippi River. Or, hold your ceremony outdoors, with a view of BOTH Memphis bridges (and their amazing nighttime synchronized LED light shows). Areas of the church available for weddings are: the Sanctuary (seats 250); area next to sanctuary which includes restrooms and a room for the bride; social hall, adjacent room and patio for receptions; and "backyard" and 2 shaded brick patio areas for outdoor ceremonies or photos. The church is handicap accessible. LGBTQ weddings welcome.

Absolutely gorgeous and wonderful view! The beauty of the santuary makes decorating very simple. Adequate space for bride and party to get ready. Plenty of room for photos. Very good.

This church is a great Memphis secret. We originally looked into it because they have no problems letting someone of your choosing officiate at their location. For $500 we got married in front of their GORGEOUS view to the Mississippi River. We didn't even decorate the sanctuary. The view was enough. The only downside was the lack of time they gave you before your ceremony. We only had the church for 3 hours. But we were so close to downtown we got ready and took pictures in front of all the landmarks. Definitely an A+ location!
