The Colonial Inn

The Colonial Inn is a historic wedding venue located in Hillsborough, NC. The building dates back to 1838 and has weathered many storms over its long history. In recent years, it underwent a full restoration and was reopened in 2020. The charming colonial-era architecture, vintage furnishings, and manicured grounds make this a beautiful and unique space to tie the knot. Located in the downtown district of Hillsborough, the Inn is walking distance from a number of eclectic restaurants, shops, and art galleries. A quick 30-minute drive from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the venue provides both convenient access and the quaint atmosphere of a small North Carolina town. The Colonial Inn is characterized by impressive white columns and a classic interior that will lend your wedding an elegant look. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor sites where you can host a large or intimate ceremony of commitment. The ballroom can be set up for your reception dinner and a get-ready parlor is available for your day-of preparations The building’s hardwood floors, antique-inspired furniture, stone fireplaces, and glittering chandeliers all add to the luxurious ambiance. A grand wooden staircase leads up to 28 boutique rooms where you and your guests can spend a comfortable and relaxing night after the festivities. These upscale and temperature-controlled rooms feature plush mattresses, fluffy robes, flatscreen TVs, and in-room steamers and ironing boards to ensure your guests stay in style. Ceremony packages come with an event planner, a one-hour rehearsal prior to the wedding, a two-hour portrait session on-location, and help with setup and breakdown. Reception bundles include four hours of event time, eight-foot rectangular tables, and exquisite Diamond Chairs for up to 75 guests. For catering, décor, florals, and dishware, The Colonial Inn partners with Hillsborough vendors who will take care of all your needs. When you book both your ceremony and reception with the venue, you will also have access to the Luxury Honeymoon Suite. This room is spread over an entire wing of the building and includes a private entrance and balcony, a fireplace, two bars, and a jacuzzi. The hotel has also partnered with local gyms, spas, and yoga studios that you are invited to use to pamper yourself on your special occasion.
