Rebecca was great! We weren't really looking forward to our first dance, but she kept things simple and wasn't judgmental that we were going to work hard just to master some basic steps. She got what our level was, and turned our dance into something we felt really good about.
Plus, I had some back issues we had to work around, which meant that I couldn't do all the moves other couples might be able to incorporate. She quickly thought of some other options that worked for us.
We went from dreading dance lessons to having had a really positive experience.
Really enjoyed working with Rebecca! She teaches iteratively, so you're constantly building up your skills but never feel overwhelmed. She's super patient and really kind! Everyone was so surprised by our first dance!
Rebecca has been so patient with us and we can’t believe how far our dancing has come. My fiancé was so nervous about our first dance and he feels much more comfortable and excited about not just our wedding dance but dancing in general now! Rebecca knows so many different methods of teaching dance and keeps working until it clicks for both of us. Highly recommend The Dance Whisperer!
My husband and I are definitely NOT natural dancers, and I was worried about our first dance. I didn't want to just sway around on the dance floor, and I wanted to do something special. We found Rebecca and are so glad we took her lessons! We only took 5, and it was just enough to learn a waltz to go along with our wedding song (a thousand years). We weren't nervous at all, and it went over great! My only regret is only taking 5 lessons, I wish I would have signed up for more! (Don't leave scheduling lessons to a month before your wedding, lesson learned for me! Not enough time in your week with all of the wedding planning to take lessons + premarital counseling)
Rebecca was such an amazing instructor. I was so nervous because we were not natural dancers and she made us look so fabulous while we danced on stage at our wedding. My husband and I had so much fun at our lessons and practicing at home. Thank you Rebecca! Our song was: Can't Help Falling in Love-Ingrid Michaelson version. Absolutely beautiful. It brought tears to our guests eyes.
Rebecca was absolutely fantastic - we wish she taught non-wedding dancing because my husband and I would have continued to take lessons from her! She is patient, breaks things down, covers all the bases (even how to enter and leave the dance floor!) and we learned moves we have been able to translate to other dances. Most importantly, she really taught us to connect on the dance floor and we both find dancing SO much more fun now. She teaches more than just a choreographed dance (which was beautiful, by the way) but also how to communicate on the dance floor.
We were both so nervous when we started thinking about our first dance, and by the end of our sessions with Rebecca all the nerves were gone. Seriously, by the time you get through the ceremony, the last thing you want to do is have added stress of dancing in front of people... the first dance should be a special moment and after working with Rebecca, it truly was. Our first dance was flawless, relaxed, natural and FUN - and we owe it all to Rebecca. THANK YOU!
For reference: We did a slowish two-step to L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, but she showed us many possibilities and also recommends songs!
The Dance Whisperer definitely knew what she was doing. My husband and I went in not knowing anything about dancing, not even two-step, and she managed to get us wedding-ready for a ballroom dance, within 5 lessons. We wouldn't have been able to do it without her!
My husband and I used Rebecca to learn a dance for our first song at our wedding and purchased the wedding package. She was amazing and successfully taught us a fun dance for the song that we chose! My husband has two left feet but she made it so simple and was extremely patient with us. I definitely recommend The Dance Whisperer!!
Rebecca was a great teacher, easy to work with, and helped prepare myself and my husband for our wedding first dance. We definitely would classify ourselves as weak dancers, but she taught us the basics, helped us get a routine over the course of our lessons, and our first dance performance went great! We highly recommend her.
My now husband and I had such a great experience working with Rebecca (the Dance Whisperer). We came in on day one with a unique and challenging song request and in her words "anything is possible" - she was patient with us and helped us learn a wonderful dance that wowed our guests. Her dance studio is very comfortable. My then fiance and I had no formal dance training and felt completely hopeless at times, but she took the time and care to work with us and make sure we understood every detail of our routine - after a few sessions with her, we were shocked to find ourselves wedding dance ready! We will always be fond of this dance routine and cannot thank her enough!!!
We sought out Rebecca to help with our first dance for our wedding reception. She is knowledgeable, kind and very flexible with scheduling... we loved her "lifesaver" move, too. We really liked the first two lessons, but felt a bit underwater afterwards. We ended up coming up with most of our choreography (and we're not dancers), but she did help us smooth out the edges on the last/fifth lesson.
My fiance (at the time) and I did the wedding dance package with Rebecca and it was absolutely wonderful! She is a great teacher and takes the time to make sure you have fun and are comfortable with the dance you're learning. In the chaotic time of planning a wedding, the hour lesson each week was a very special time for my fiance and I to create a special memory and enjoy spending quality time with each other and we couldn't have picked a better teacher. I would highly recommend Rebecca if you are considering dance lessons for your wedding or even if you're just wanting to try something new with your partner! Such a great experience. Thank you Rebecca!
My fiance and I could not have asked for a better dance lesson experience. Dance lessons seem like something you "should" do prior to your wedding, and--though we were somewhat on the fence about whether it would be worth the time and expense--we knew we didn't want to feel awkward when it came time for our first dance.
It's hard to know what to expect when you sign up for dance lessons, but for some reason the idea of learning a standard dance move (waltz, foxtrot, and the like) or some sort of canned routine quickly comes to mind. That couldn't have been further from the truth with Rebecca, though. Under her guidance (and in her comfortable, private dance studio), we became very comfortable moving together--to the point where we even developed choreography to our chosen first dance song.
The best part, though, is that the choreography really reflects both the nature of the song that we chose and our personalities--and she was very receptive to suggestions and feedback that we gave. How many people can say that their first dance includes moves as diverse as a waltz variant, a swing routine, and the Carlton?!
Working with Rebecca, we've gone from being on the fence with dance lessons to lamenting the fact that they'll be over when we get married. I cannot recommend her more highly.
After my husband and I had a pretty awful experience at one of the more well-known dance studios in town we thankfully found Rebecca. She has her own studio so you can get truly private lessons. She's a great instructor who really listens to exactly what you want for your wedding day and helps you craft the perfect routine to fit your dancing ability.
My husband and I decided to look into dance lessons so we wouldn't be awkwardly standing there for 4 minutes of a first dance. I found The Dance Whisperer (Rebecca) via google and noticed all of her positive reviews. We had so much fun taking lessons with The Dance Whisperer! She offers class packages, so we made it a pre-wedding ritual to go to class the weeks leading up to the wedding. She's very conscientious, patient, and so easy to work with! Our first dance turned out wonderfully, but I value the time I got to spend with my then-fiancé at those weekly lessons even more!
Our dance lessons were amazing. My husband feels that he has no rhythm but after five weeks we got the hang of it. We want to go back for some different type of lessons after the holidays. We looked forward to going every week and had a great time
We only took five dance lessons here and we enjoyed each one. My husband and I are NOT dancers and have never taken a lesson in our lives. We really should have booked more lessons but with all the wedding planning, we just ran out of time. We did a simple Fox Trot the Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon". We were by NO means pros but she did the best she could with us. Our dance wasn't perfect at the wedding (I didn't realize how hard it would be to dance in my dress) but we pulled off the ending and everyone enjoyed it. It was perfect! I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn. Just maybe book more than 5 lessons if you want to really show off your skills!
We did dance lesson with Rebecca for our first dance. I was amazed at the change in our dancing ability. She helped make my husband more comfortable with dancing. We are planning on going back and taking lessons just for fun.
