The Devonshire Players

I cannot recommend The Devonshire Players enough. We just had our wedding a few days ago where they played at the ceremony and cocktail hour. From the start they were very kind, responsive, and organized. To say my husband and I and our guests were blown away is an understatement. Their music is absolutely beautiful and it totally elevated our wedding. We loved that they were able to play a mix of different songs- new and old. I highly recommend them for any event!

We hired the Devonshire Players quartet to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour of our May 3, 2024 wedding. We originally were just going to have music played over a speaker system for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, but my wedding planner encouraged me to look into live music options for these portions of our event, one of which was the Devonshire Players, and I could not be more glad that she did! While the classics always have their place (and the Devonshire Players execute those flawlessly), what drew us to the Devonshire Players was their wide variety of pop songs--both new and old--and songs from plays. Lakshmi was fabulous to work with throughout the planning process and was extremely quick to get back to me. On wedding day, the Devonshire Players arrived early to practice a song one more time before the event began that they had learned specifically for my wedding as a special request from my mom, which was outside of their already extensive play list. Having the Devonshire Players play during our ceremony & cocktail hour created the perfect air of elegance that I was looking for for those portions of the event. I highly recommend this extremely talented group of women as an affordable way to elevate your next event.

The Devonshire Players came recommended by my party planner, and these ladies are AMAZING! Lakshmi is so kind and such a pleasure to work with. The group has such talent and range. I was blown away by the mix of modern and classic songs they cover and they learned 2 new songs for our ceremony. They set the tone for a special and emotional ceremony. I cannot recommend enough!

The Devonshire Players were an incredible part of a beautiful day. The wedding began with a a ceremony, and their music filling the air with anticipation and love. They continued to play during the cocktail party, and the music was a perfect addition to the festivities. It set the mood for the rest of the days events. Lakshmi was so easy to work with. Their repertoire of music is so deep, which makes selecting the music so enjoyable. They are HIGHLY recommended.

I had seen The Devonshire Players at a wedding the year before mine and knew right then and there that I would hire them. Lakshmi was so responsive and helpful with her suggestions for ceremony and cocktail music. They did a great job the day of and I was so pleased with the way everything turned out. I would definitely recommend them!

I cannot say enough amazing things about this talented group of women. Lakshmi was so easy to work with when booking and amazingly responsive when we sadly had to push our wedding date due to COVID. There was no hesitation with rescheduling and we so appreciated. The amount of songs they could play was amazing! We pushed a mix of classical and some pop and rock which was a fun little addition. What incredible musicians! My husband and I knew we wanted a string quartet for our ceremony and cocktail hour, but our standards were very high being musicians ourselves. The Devonshire Players are exquisite and professional musicians and we cannot recommend them more!

I cannot say enough about how good the Devonshire Players are. We hired them as a string trio to play at our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were nothing short of perfection. I will never forget their beautiful sound as we walked down the aisle and their fun but classy pop covers while mingling with our guests at cocktail hour. gorgeous! thank you ladies! easy to work with, amazing sound, professional, etc... we originally heard them at a wedding and knew that we wanted then at ours. not only do they have a great sound, they have a great repertoire. I heard everything from tailor swift to the Beatles. also, the girls came dressed in colors similar to our wedding colors, which they plan. highly recommended!

The Devonshire Players are fabulous! We were lucky to work with them for our wedding ceremony on 8/17/19 in Ridgefield, CT. Lakshmi was a joy to coordinate with in advance - she was responsive and accommodating and a lovely person. The trio added the perfect touch to our ceremony. The Devonshire Players provided the ceremony music for our 8/25/2018 wedding at the Surf Club in New Rochelle and all I can say is WOW! They added a touch of elegance and created such an incredibly romantic ambiance to our ceremony. They were so easy to work with and Lakshmi was so quick to respond to every e-mail and answer every question I had. They were talented, beautiful and so professional. The Devonshire players were absolutely spectacular ! A huge hilight from our big day! They are truly gifted musicians and have a vast repertoire of genres! The Devonshire Players made my church ceremony everything I could have ever hoped for. The best part of the entire wedding day was walking down the aisle to "Blower's Daughters" and seeing my now husband's face . They even learned how to play "I Don't Want to Wait" by Paula Cole for my bridesmaids to walk down the aisle as my homage to Dawson's Creek. Each song they played was special to us and they exceeded our expectations. Guests still come up to me to say how beautiful the ceremony was. If you're thinking of having a sting quartet for your ceremony or reception --- look no further!!!

What a fabulous and talented group of musicians! My guests loved them and I had to hold back my tears as I walked down the aisle to Bach's Cello Suite 1. The Devonshire Players were amazing. They performed beautifully at our ceremony and played all of the songs that we requested perfectly, including a special mash-up that I wanted played for my entrance (as a surprise to my groom). They were the perfect soundtrack to our ceremony and if we had to do it over we would choose them again! We would definitely recommend them!

After a lot of searching for a string trio we finally found everything we were looking for in the Devonshire Players!! I knew from the beginning I wanted a string trio for the ceremony and we couldn't be happier with their performance! They have such a wide range of music which was a great bonus since we could have both classical songs and modern songs. We trusted them to choose songs that would fit the setting and they did just that. They played for about 20 minutes before the ceremony started and although we didn't hear that part, we received so many compliments from our guests. The songs we chose for the processional, recessional and my walk down the aisle were played to perfection! The Devonshire Players performed our cocktail hour as well and it was a real treat to hear their diverse selection of music. It was a great way to get the second half of our wedding started. I recently hired The Devonshire Players to perform during the cocktail hour of my daughters wedding. From day one, the company was an absolute pleasure to work with. They provided us with a large listing of both contemporary and classical songs to select from, with each selection they performed being better then the next. My guest could of listened to them for hours! Their talent and expertise added an incredible amount of poise and elegance to the cocktail hour, truly making it unique and one that will be remembered for a long time. These women were outstanding and well worth the very reasonable fee charged for such a quality performance. I would of given them a hundred stars if I could have!

We absolutely loved the Devonshire Players! They played as a quartet during our ceremony and cocktail hour (wedding was April 2018). They learned a couple of songs for our ceremony and they sounded incredible. Lakshmi was very responsive to our emails. We received a ton of compliments about how good they were. Highly recommend!!!

This string quartet is quite simply the best. I made a rather difficult request, and they totally made it happen. They were extremely easy to work with and their musicianship is exquisite. WOW!!!! I must start the review in this way because I was speechless for the day of my wedding. No words can describe how incredibly special and romantic it was to have the Devonshire Players playing as I walked down the aisle. Furthermore, Laksmi was VERY awesome to work with and was always providing timely responses if I had a question. They played all of our songs without any questions being asked and the guests LOVED THEM! A nice classy and elegant ceremony and cocktail hour with a modern twist. Not to mention, the Devonshire Players show up in style. Without even planning it, the ladies showed up in coral dresses (which are so in) and matched with small details found within the bouquets that my girls and I had. The Devonshire Players were beyond perfect @ our wedding in Westchester this June. From prelude to recessional, they delivered a flawless and elegant performance that enamored our entire guest list and ourselves. As a wedding professional myself, finding vendors for your own day isn't easy. However, Lakshmi was my first call as soon as we booked our venue. That's how confident I was in her ability and she still over-delivered. You would be crazy not to book TDP!

The Devonshire Players are a must-get! My husband and I were so excited to have them play at our ceremony and cocktail hour. They are so incredibly talented and their repertoire is so vast - they are the perfect touch to your wedding! We requested a song that was not in their repertoire and they were so willing to go the extra mile and made our dreams a reality. I was so glad that I was able to hear them play while I was taking photos although I was not able to enjoy the cocktail hour. My only regret was that I was not able to thank them in-person at the conclusion of the cocktail hour for helping elevate our wedding and making it so magical!

The Devonshire Players elevated our wedding to a level beyond compare! Unfortunately, as the Bride, I may have missed most of their performance during our pre-ceremony welcome and the cocktail hour, but trust that I've had a lovely experience with these ladies enough to validate this review! Not to mention, I am STILL receiving raving compliments from guests! Firstly, their music on Soundcloud speaks for itself—it's just beautiful, and every bit an accurate representation of what they deliver in person. We immediately knew we HAD to have them at our wedding, and despite the long distance AND long day, the ladies were flexible and accomodating—so easy to work with! The minute I heard the strings begin Canon in D, I turned the corner to embark down the aisle with my father as if entering a dream. The sounds were perfect, and these ladies know what they're doing. They are attentive and make sure that no mark is missed. If you're looking for a live string addition to your wedding, namely a modern and sharp group, look no further. The Devonshire Players are it. We used the Devonshire Players for our ceremony and cocktail hour for a May 2017 wedding at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Being a former cello player myself, my standards were quite high for the string quartet. The Devonshire Players blew me away and I knew I had to book them! Working with Lakshmi was such a breeze and she was completely open to my ideas on certain songs I wanted played. Lakshmi was so responsive and would always email me back within hours - which was much appreciated! I highly recommend the Devonshire Players!

I found the Devonshire Players through the Knot and I am so happy I found them to play at the ceremony and cocktail hour during my wedding in New Rochelle, NY! Lakshmi was a dream to work. She was very responsive to questions and her group was willing to learn a new arrangement we wanted played at the end of the ceremony. Although, nothing compared to the beautiful music I heard coming from our ceremony room while I was awaiting my entrance. These amazing and talented women added a special touch to our wedding that was beyond my wildest dreams. Our guests were thrilled to be welcomed by a string trio and the songs played during the ceremony were beautiful and elegant. Our Great Gatsby themed wedding was made complete with their wonderful contribution to our Jazz-Aged cocktail hour. I don't even know how to begin my review for The Devonshire Players, because no words can accurately describe how much they added to our wedding day. My husband and I hired The Devonshire Players to perform at our wedding ceremony as well as cocktail hour after hearing their Soundcloud samples, and it was one of the best and easiest decisions we made. My husband and I are more contemporary, so wanted more range/modern songs versus classical, and The Devonshire Players more than accommodated us (I'll literally never be able to listen to "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol again without envisioning their string version of it). Not only are these women incredibly talented - to the point that even our very picky/opinionated family were blown away and are STILL raving about them - but they are the epitome of professionalism, from their attitude to their appearance when they come to play on your wedding day. Lakshmi was amazing to work with, as the point of contact for the quartet. She fielded numerous emails where I requested advice or tried to run ideas by her, and did so with so much warmth and kindness (even after we had paid the final deposit, which I cannot say for all of our wedding vendors). The day of the wedding, the quartet played so beautifully that our cocktail hour included multiple people congratulating us.... and telling us how beautiful the ceremony music was. They didn't compete with the conversations guests were having, and were the perfect backdrop to add elegance and beautiful music for everyone to enjoy. The Devonshire Players took our wedding to another level - their talent is unparalleled, their response time to emails helps to put you at ease, and their warmth just radiates. Booking The Devonshire Players helped to personalize our ceremony and reception so much, and we are so grateful to them for bringing so much beauty to our day through their music! The minute I heard The Devonshire Players' Music as I was perusing The Knot for a quartet or live band I knew they had to play at my wedding. Listening to their sound bites thinking about walking down the aisle put tears in my eyes every time. They met every high expectation we had from the initial email to the wedding day. Their music is joyful and moving and our guests LOVED their music. We did our first look prior to the ceremony just so we could enjoy their music during the cocktail hour. If you're looking for the best live performance you can find then these ladies are a no brainer. The Devonshire Players exceeded our expectations in every way possible! When I first contacted them it was within a month to spare before my wedding and lucky for us, they had availability that day! Communication was quick and stress free! Their playlist is amazing. We didn't want anything traditional playing for our wedding and the Devonshire Players kept the mood upbeat by playing all pop and more recent tunes that we had requested! They even found the notes and played a special request song for me as I walked down the aside :). My guests couldn't stop gabbing over you ladies and what a wonderful touch it was to our wedding! Simplely amazing artists!!!!!! I can not say enough good things about the Devonshire players, from the beginning I informed Lakshmi that I wanted this to be a surprise for my fiancé at the time,she was so helpful with the entire experience. These incredibly talented, gracious and graceful ladies did the impossible - they made an otherwise perfect wedding even better. Every song sounded as good or better than what they had posted on their site. The children at the wedding were mesmerized by the beauty of their music. The guests could not stop complimenting us on our choice of musicians. If I had a single complaint, it is that they don't travel to Texas (where my new bride and I live). We hired the Devonshire players for our ceremony and they were fantastic! They were even willing to write an arrangement of our special song "Superbass" for us. The Devonshire Players are a truly amazing group! I got married at The Garrison 3 weeks ago and they played during my ceremony and cocktail hour. I requested a certain song for the bridal party to walk down to and The Devonshire Players learned the song and played it perfectly. It brought tears to my eyes. My Dad composed a piece for our processional and recessional that he asked them to learn and they played the music so incredibly beautifully and were kind of enough to record them playing the piece so I will have it forever. Getting to walk down the aisle to a piece composed by my Dad was incredibly special. During the cocktail hour, they played a variety of modern music, all so beautifully, including the Game of Thrones theme song which was AWESOME! My Mom, Dad, and I worked closely with Lakshmi and what a warm and wonderful person she is! My mom passed away a week before my wedding and Lakshmi was there for us, providing comfort, support, and making sure our wedding day was one full joy, love, and memories that we will never forget. I would recommend The Devonshire Players to anyone!

We had a string duo from the Devonshire Players perform at my Catholic wedding ceremony this past Saturday, and we were thrilled with their performance! They played classical songs for the prelude, processional, and interludes. Our guests all commented on how lovely the music was. Walking down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon on violin and viola was exactly how I imagined it--so beautiful. Lakshmi was a pleasure to work with in the weeks leading up to the wedding. She provided musical suggestions and she worked closely with the music coordinator at our church to ensure that the program came together smoothly. My cousin sang two songs at the ceremony, and Lakshmi went out of her way to coordinate with her as well. She was incredibly responsive and professional. I highly recommend the Devonshire Players for any event. If my church had not been strict about prohibiting secular music, I would have loved to have them play some of their more modern songs as well. Maybe for another event some day!

The Devonshire Players did our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and were great! They had the timing of the ceremony worked out perfectly and didn't skip a note despite my young niece's interest in their instruments during the ceremony. Unfortunately, for the cocktail hour I didn't really hear them because my husband and I were taking pictures and then saying hello to everyone. However, the guests loved them. We received several compliments on how great it was to hear pop music played well on the strings. Leading up to the event, they were nothing but a pleasure to deal with--professional, organized, and accommodating. I highly recommend them!

I am so happy I booked The Devonshire Players for our cocktail hour! I found them by chance on the Knot. From the first email to the last email, Lakshmi was prompt, professional, and sweet. They have a great selection of songs to choose from. I loved hearing their beautiful instrumentals of everything from Coldplay, the Beatles, to Elvis play during our cocktail hour. We decided to have some light entertainment for our guests as they wined and dined outside with their cocktails in a tranquil garden like setting and who better than the Devonshire Players to perform?!?! The Devonshire Players stole the show during cocktail hour! :) They perfectly complimented our wedding with their classical renditions of a diverse mix of contemporary songs and special requests including the theme song to Super Mario Brothers, YES, Super Mario Brothers!!! It was requested by my loving husband and they were able to play it amazingly!!! From the moment I read the hundreds of positive reviews on the Knot and WeddingWire, I had to inquire. Lakshmi was accommodating from the very start, she answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. After listening to their audio samples on their website, I knew they would be the perfect addition to our wedding! We just wish we got to hear more of them at the wedding, but we took pictures at the first half of cocktail hour. Our guests were extremely enthused and impressed by the talents of these 3 lovely ladies (we had the trio) as were we!!!! THANK YOU so much for playing at our wedding and making it special!!!!! If you want the most excellent music played during your wedding, the Devonshire Players are your only option! The elegance they brought to our ceremony and the relaxed atmosphere they were able to create during cocktail hour could NOT be topped! They are easy to work with and have an extensive list of songs that they can already play. However, if one of your songs you want played aren't listed, they are totally willing to work with you. We not be happier with the Devonshire Players and are so happy we booked them for our wedding. Thank you ladies!!

The Devonshire players were beyond amazing. We just got married last weekend and have heard praise from all of our guests about how awesome they sounded. Even though I was behind the scenes before the ceremony my bridesmaids and coordinator kept running into the bridal suite to tell me how amazing they were. Elegance and Class My husband and I were married at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley, NY on October 18, 2015. We wanted more than piped in or average ceremony music. I found The Devonshire Players online and as soon as I looked at their very informative and well laid out website we couldn't wait to hear them live!! Their site has samples of their very extensive repertoire as well as pictures of the beautiful women who play for the Devonshire Players. I have spoken to Lakshmi James and Melissa Macy who were always so very pleasant and informative. They are willing to work with you to make your special day everything you want it to be. We chose the quartet and had the traditional wedding march for my procession and loved the idea that we could chose Marry Me by Bruno Mars for the recessional!! Their sound was heavenly and performance and appearance very professional. It was exactly what we wanted and would highly recommend Devonshire Players if you want to add that EXTRA SPECIAL touch to your special occasion. Absolutely love them!!

The personalize link on their website was our biggest helper. Seeing which songs they had to offer helped us make our ceremony very special and personal.
