My Dreamy Dream Away WeddingReviewed on 1/24/2012 Tara Tetreault B
Ok gang if you are anything like me you are unconventional and unique. My style is one of a kind and I don't mind standing out in a crowd. I also don't mind being the center of attention nor do I mind hanging out in the woods by myself. That being said my husband and I wanted somewhere that spoke to us and felt like a home tucked away in the woods far from the busyness of ours and others lives. We wanted a day that we could call our own surrounded by our most beloved family and friends where no strangers could intrude on our most special day. We found this at the Dream Away in Becket, MA. When the two of us first came to find the DAL we decided that if we ever went back again my husband would ask me to marry him there. Needless to say after months of not going back there because of his promise he finally figured out a way to secretly get me there and ask me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was a magical day and at that point were not 100% decided on the DAL as our wedding site, although it was of course a main contender. Fast forward through the process of meeting, looking, figuring to our FINAL DECISION of a location...drum roll please DAL!!! We decided to go with the DAL because it is a magical location like no other. It is also a beautifully landscaped vista tucked away hidden from the world. If I could have made a scene for my wedding day it would be that the entire planet stopped moving except for our wedding space and time. The DAL some how managed to convince us that they could (and did) perform this miracle. Daniel who owns the DAL along with Amy (the executive chef) gave us every reassurance that indeed everything would be taken care of (and it was). I think the most surprising and amazing moments came during the actual day. We were so nervous that something would do wrong because Daniel had said, "don't worry, we've got it covered" to so many items that we were sure something would fall through the cracks but NO WE WERE WRONG. When we arrived at the DAL the place looked amazing, the flowers were in bloom and so colorful. The inside of the house was all set up and ready for guests to mix and mingle freely. The tables were set with beautiful flowers adorning them. The tent was up and ready in case of rain. The boutineers and bouquets were all set and ready to go in the "shed" where I was to get ready. Daniel and his staff had accomplished what I thought would be impossible but I should have never doubted them. From the pre-wedding mixing, to the ceremony, to the post-ceremony mixing, to the dinner (kudos to Chef Amy), to our DAL homemade wedding cake (which didn't make it to one year in the freezer because of how good it was) to the post dinner dancing and festivities it was an amazing day. I say to anyone who wants more from their day to give Daniel a call. He is not your typical wedding planner/coordinator/manager/owner/visionary but will impress you with this air of knowledge and quality. I must also tell you that the DAL is not your typical wedding venue but who wants their wedding day to be typical? The day allowed for children to play in the gardens, pets to roam around the grounds, couples to wander off into the maze, and the older amongst us to sit by the fire or pond. It was said to me time and time again that "this was the most amazing wedding that I/we have ever been to. It was such a pleasure to find this gem in the Berkshire woods." My hope is that you too will add this bauble to your treasure chest
One of a Kind Wedding VenueReviewed on 1/24/2012 Heather S
The Dream Away Lodge is a magical place for so many reasons, but I would like to start off my review with the points that made it so perfect for our wedding: The Service: Daniel, Amy, and the wonderful staff were all amazing. Daniel was instrumental in making sure the day ran smoothly, and Amy's food was beyond our wildest dreams. The All-Inclusiveness: The Dream Away took care of our flowers, cake, ceremony space, etc in addition to the food, bar, and venue itself. It was wonderful to be able to consult with one vendor who already had a grasp on what we envisioned for the event. The Ambiance: We did not need to worry about a theme, a color scheme, anything like that! Choosing a venue like the Dream Away that is already full of character and whimsy saved us time, money, and allowed us to focus on aspects of the wedding that were really important to us. I have to admit that The Dream Away held a special place in our hearts before our wedding, but after having our wedding there, we can only say more wonderful things about it. All of our guests have said that it was one of, if not THE, most enjoyable and most unique weddings that they have ever attended. We were overjoyed with our experience at The Dream Away Lodge and cannot recommend it enough.
