Awesome place and an unbelievable price! My family and I had a great week here playing on the beach. Beds were very comfortable and our room was clean. The restaurant, Nolan’s, is down stairs and has better food than any of the famous places in...
downtown Chicago we tried. We will definitely be back soon.

This place is a gem! It may still be a bit of a diamond in the rough, but new ownership is really making an effort at improving the hotel.
We stayed a night in one of the lakeview balcony suites, it was a good value for the price. The room w...
as clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated, but nothing was bad by any means. As far as I know the pool still hasn't been restored, that will be huge added amenity once opened.
The hotel beach had to be restored and now has erosion control in place, the sand there was clearly brought in but most people prefer that sandy beach.
If you prefer a natural beach with rocks mixed in just go north or south of the hotel beach and you'll find pristine natural lakeshore. There are no other buildings in the area for a very long stretch in either direction so it is very quiet and peaceful off-season. In the Summer, there are plenty of people on the beach, but there is certainly enough room for everyone to spread out.
There are also miles of trails to walk or hike through the natural park areas.
Also Nolan's, the restaurant in the hotel is worth checking out. The prices are a little high in my opinion, but still worth it. If you want to splurge a litte, I would definitely recommend it. The mixed drinks were delicious and the food was of high quality.
Thank you ExplorUS for resurrecting this area! Keep the improvements moving forward and this place could be a standout destination!

Great place if you want to walk out to the lakes and walk the sand. Room was great and we had a very nice balcony. The personnel that work the front desk staff, restaurant and room service were all great.
I do wish they had a breakfast area in...
stead of on the go stuff. They do have those little coffee pot in the room.
Once the pool gets fixed within the next 5 years this will be an amazing place.

Only stayed for one night, last minute booking, stayed in room 111. The location is amazing, being on Lake MI. There were no special events going on in the hotel, so our stay was very peaceful. Great place to connect with nature if the hotel is...
n’t holding an event. We ate appetizers and had cocktails in the restaurant. I loved the margarita I was served by our friendly server. We ordered calamari and a flatbread pizza. Food tasted ok- not amazing, but not bad. The front desk employee, Renita, was very nice. Our room was clean - clean sheets, clean towels, clean bathroom, clean refrigerator. The hotel overall looks a little worn out even though it supposedly was renovated in the last few years. Maybe the maintenance staff doesn’t keep up with small repairs like peeling wallpaper, window washing or carpet stains. This could be a really top notch place if ExplorUS took better care
Of it. We thought the mid-century modern design with the split levels, stone floors, and expansive glass window views were beautiful. It’s just overall in need of having more $ put into it to help it reach its full potential.

Staff was amazing. I got delayed 16 hours and they cancelled the room and moved the dates around with zero issue. They were super nice. The room however was not. our original room was 331(sadly i didnt take any pictures because i just wanted ou...
t of the room once we noticed). the bathroom wall where the mirror was- it was covered in black mold. (i have an allergy to black mold so after seeing it we decided to go down to the front desk to let them know and ask to change rooms. They moved us to 335 or 336(i dont remember exactly which one ). bathroom wall where mirror was still has some black mold- wayyy less then the first room but my significant other and i were just too tired from traveling and just wanted to sleep before we went out for halloween. granted we should have went right back down to the front desk but we figured its two nights and ill just up allergy meds. however this shouldnt even be a problem we had to experience. ill add photos of the mold from the second room from the bathroom and when we left we notice dirt or possibly more mold by the nightstand (it could be mold because we notice warping on the furniture's vinyl that looked like humidity damage but am unsure). the beds were clean including the sheets which was nice but thats how it should be. the rest of the room just needed a vacuum like around the trim and above the trim and the cabinets, and the bathroom tub was peeling, dirty and the shower curtain orange at the bottom. We also booked a lake view room, well we got the side where the lake was but got mainly a building view sadly and the windows were filthy(i didnt get a picture of those ). we expected a great stay with a hotel thats labeled as a resort. sadly we didnt get that and now we will only book big brand hotels like hilton in the area. All pictures are from room 335 or 336. For almost $300 for two nights, we should not had run into any mold of dirt issue from the beginning.
