The Farm at Pond Lily

We were so happy to have celebrated our wedding at the truly stunning Farm at Pond Lily. We were married in September when the leaves had just begun to turn, and the grounds were gorgeous, the barn was very comfortable despite a slight chill, and the weather was perfect for a bonfire outside! I'll be honest - my mother/wedding planner had the most interaction with the team at Pond Lily, so I can't speak to the working relationship beyond saying if they can put up with my mother they are in good shape to work with anybody! The team's relationships with vendors made it all the easier to plan the wedding; the only trick is that you may end up feeling like you can only work with the folks they already know, which can be a bit limiting. Thankfully we were happy with all of our vendors, many of whom they introduced us to. We also occasionally felt restricted by some of the many rules the owners place on the property's use, but again, they were relatively minor (i.e., can't use certain types of flowers to carpet the aisle, can't suspend things from the willow tree, etc.) and didn't really impact our ability to have the wedding we'd envisioned. What I can tell you is that the venue was simply perfect for a comfortable-yet-rustic barn wedding (and we looked at a LOT of barns). The pond with its weeping willow is a gorgeous backdrop for a ceremony, and the stone patio by the barn was the perfect setting for the cocktail hour. Photo locations were ample, including the gorgeous upper field that we would've loved as a ceremony location - I hear that's in the works for future seasons. The barn with its chandelier is the perfect mix of rustic and special; there are no bathrooms in the barn but the bathroom trailer is nicer than most hotel restrooms - your guests will be quite comfortable! I would caution that the rain location options felt a bit limited to me; thankfully we had perfect weather on our wedding day, but that's something to consider. The house on the property is great for getting ready and for guests; my parents, grandmother, and brother stayed there and were quite comfortable. There is a "honeymoon cabin" that is more of a double wide; my husband and I chose to stay in Hudson with our friends instead. The only real challenge for Pond Lily is its location; the closest lodgings are in Hudson and Kingston, both at least 20 minutes away. The Farm has parking and obviously bussing is an option, but lodging in popular Hudson can be hard to come by and Kingston is a bit more of a schlep. That said, our guests loved exploring Hudson and loved Pond Lily. All in all, this is a venue I'd definitely recommend for folks looking for a rustic barn wedding in a beautiful and accessible location with a great team that knows how to handle weddings.
