They even accommodated our dietary needs to create a fully vegan menu. Everything was perfect. You're not going to find a better venue in southeast PA.

They kept me calm and reassured me even when we had small issues that had nothing to do with the venue. They were amazing to work with and such a beautiful venue. I honestly wish I could've take a breath in and appreciated the amazing work they did. The food was amazing, the venue is beautiful, everything was wonderful. I could not appreciate them enough. We hope to come back for our vows renewal later on in life and I dearly hope that Dawn and Richard are still making dreams come true because the next people have a very impressive shoe to fit. In COVID, it seemed like this venue thrived and became so creative with event set-up such as multiple locations to have the cocktail hour and dinner around the farmhouse and they have made many awesome updates to this venue over the time from our first booking till our wedding day. They think of every detail to make your wedding day great even down to keeping our dinner warm for us while we were talking to our guests at the reception which was so thoughtful!

uestions I had, no matter how silly they were. They coordinated all my vendors on the wedding day and they always made sure that my husband and I were fully taken care of. While taking pictures during the cocktail hour, they had servers come out to our wedding party to pass out food so we wouldn’t miss out. Our cake had arrived a little late, so our florist had to return to finish our cake but everything was so smooth because Richard was on top of everything. The food was on point, so many of our guests made sure to let us know they enjoyed their wedding food. The bartenders and servers were so professional and efficient. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family to host their events and weddings here. Honestly, I am so happy with how everything turned out. Easily five stars. Thank you to the Farmhouse at People’s Light, you made our wedding memorable.

The food was absolutely fantastic and had all my guests full and raving about how great the venue was! This place is truly a gem! A beautiful alternative to what other venues offer. Between the good food, friendly staff and uniqueness that is People’s Light, it’s worth every penny! the actual event and a follow-up trip for dinner and a show, everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail. We had 80 quests at our wedding and everyone commented on what a great time they had and the beauty of the venue. The flexibility of the venue leads me to believe it could easily handle smaller or much large weddings. The food was awesome and we had a difficult time choosing a menu because all the food at the tasting was delicious (BTW, bring a couple of people with you to the tasting because the share a lot of food with you). The outdoor seating was perfect for the wedding and the recently updated outdoor façade and adjacent cocktail area was perfect for our wedding. During our event, Kyle was very attentive to our needs throughout the night and did an excellent job in ensuring the success of the wedding. We used a couple of the vendors recommended by The Farmhouse (Platinum Disc Jockeys and Master’s Baker) and they both did an excellent job. It was great that they had a list of vendors we could work with which helped alleviate some of the pressure of planning a wedding. All in all, it was a great experience and I’d recommend checking out this venue for your wedding

u use whatever space you'd like to design your reception. We used the pavilion, the bistro area, and the outdoor garden space for our cocktail hour. This allowed 3 bars to be open and allowed for guests to mingle throughout the entire space, which was so nice. We used the main ballroom for dinner and to hold all of our guest tables. We then used the pavilion space as our main dance floor. I was a bit nervous that having the dance floor in the pavilion would be too separated from the ballroom, but it truly was not - the two spaces really flowed into each other, and the dance floor was packed the entire night. The food was amazing - both the hors d'oeuvres and our main entrees. The chef even agreed to create a special appetizer for me to be served during the cocktail hour! The only comment that I would make is that sometimes it was difficult to get in touch with the venue via email, and sometimes I had to ask the same question a few times before I received an answer. However, in the few weeks leading directly up to the wedding, Kyle was always very responsive, and to me, that mattered most. I would highly recommend The Farmhouse to anyone looking to have their wedding in a unique, rustic space. Thank you to Kyle and the entire staff at The Farmhouse!

with. The did not appear to be experienced in handling larger weddings. Bob, Ellen, and Kyle were not responsive to emails and failed to provide us with necessary planning tools in a timely manner, which caused a great deal of stress. We struggled to get staff to commit to a date and time for our rehearsal, although we asked them several times. There did not appear to be enough staffing at my wedding which caused delays in the dinner service, by about 30 minutes. Our photobooth blew a fuse after we placed it where Bob suggested and the upstairs bathroom toilet clogged and was overflowing on the floor, which a wedding guest alerted us to. The most shocking and unexpected twist was that Kyle was giving tours of the venue to 3 prospective couples on the day of the wedding after we were told that the place was ours for the day. Imagine a bride and her bridesmaids getting ready and strangers on a tour walking into the room. You only get one chance at your wedding day and while this venue is absolutely stunning, I cannot recommend it. Maybe you will be lucky and get good service, as some of the other reviews mentioned, but given what I experienced, I find that very hard to believe. I don't wish the experience we had on any couple. If I had it to do over again, we would have picked a different venue. I feel compelled to warn other couples that this venue is not worth the risk, especially if you are having a larger sized wedding. If Bob, Kyle and Ellen are in charge, I urge you to look elsewhere. Bob actually called me multiple times on both my work phone and cell phone, attempting to meet with me so that he could "discuss the Farmhouses response" (yes he left that on a voicemail) to my mother in laws review. I am not one to write reviews but that pushed me over the edge. Instead of calling myself and my bride to apologize for our experience or to sit down and talk to use to get a deeper understanding of our concerns so that they could improve the experience for future brides, Bob was more concerned with what their response would be to a review written by my mother in law. He could have contacted her directly to discuss her review. I did not return his calls, as it seemed he was more concerned with damage control than with attempting to make things right. A sincere apology or even a simple acknowledgment of what we went through would have gone a long way. Instead, the Farmhouse's response to our reviews seems to be getting people to write favorable reviews to possibly make my wife and my mother in laws reviews seem less relevant or not as valid.

der was a blast, and the venue itself was absolutely gorgeous with the accent lighting, perfectly manicured lawns and gardens and even a fire pit. We had so much fun that we booked it again for a 1 year anniversary party. If you haven’t been to the Farmhouse, you positively MUST get there for the experience!

Kyle and Bob were a wealth of knowledge about vendor recommendations. They helped us find our DJ, florist, baker, hotel, etc which really helped us streamline the planning process, as we only had a few months to plan. The day of our wedding the staff and food were terrific! Even the General Manger, Ellen stopped by to wish us well! So cheers to The Farmhouse and its staff! The beautiful venue which holds a special mixture of rustic charm and elegance was exactly what we had envisioned our wedding venue to be. Our guests also loved the space as well, especially the new pavilion which has a wall of windows that look out on the lawn and gardens. The garden fence and terrace are up lit with LED programmable lights which made for some nice romantic evening wedding photos. Kyle, Bob and Stephen were so helpful throughout the planning process, but especially the week of my wedding. They handled everything from setting the ceremony chairs in the perfect configuration to waiting on AJ and I personally with drinks & hors d'eouvres to fulfilling any little special request we made. I felt like I was being served by a staff who truly cared! The food was exceptional! We are still receiving compliments from friends and family about how amazing it was. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue where the staff makes you feel at home from start to finish, then I highly recommend The Farmhouse. Thanks to the entire staff for helping make our wedding day dreams come true!!!

The day of the wedding, Kyle and Ellen scheduled 3 tours to prospective brides, as we were getting ready! Strangers walking in as hair and makeup were being done and wandering through our reception space. Yet, the staff that was promised to be assigned to us were no where to be seen. I feel our event should have been the priority that day, not trying to drum up more business. The staffing we were promised of 1 staff for every 20 guests were not provided. There was no one available in the lobby area to direct guests to the bathrooms hidden downstairs, instead our 130+ guests were left to stand in line for the one bathroom off the lobby, which ended up clogging.The photo booth set up where the venue told them to, and ended up blowing a fuse as it was on the same circuit as the coffee station. They were so understaffed that dinner service was delayed 30 minutes as Bob the Event Manager was in the kitchen plating and Kyle the coordinator was garnishing the plates.It then took almost 20 minutes to complete serving the meal. Ellen was rude to my husband and myself as we were greeting guests as they were arriving, saying not to talk to anyone, it slows things down, and this was 10 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to begin. When we arrived the day of the rehearsal, the cake table was set up with a silver riser fit the cake to sit on, that was clearly not washed from the last event, ad there was dried on frosting on it. It was brought to their attention and I was assured it would be cleaned. I made it a point to check it the day if the wedding, the frosting was scraped off, but I had to clean it off with soap and water. In the end, my daughter had a beautiful day surrounded by the people who love her, but no one should have to experience such in professional behavior.

as just a way to make money. I felt they were trying to cut costs by not fully staffing my wedding. This venue needs an experienced wedding staff with an efficient and responsive coordinator. I experienced a lack of communication & disorganization that caused a great deal of added stress. When I first contacted them, Bob was responsive. $115 pp was out of our budget. Bob accommodated & we got the price to $84 pp. For the tasting you pick 2/3 entrees to taste, you don't get to taste all the entrees. We arrived for the tasting & they had forgotten to put us on the schedule so we had to reschedule. The food was not good at our second tasting. Risotto was too mushy & crunchy, rice was undercooked, and entrees were bland. We ended up having to send the venue recipes. Communication with the coordinator, Kyle, was not good. She didn't email when she said she would and when I followed up, she told me she was very busy which caused the lack of response. She did not always answer my questions or would ask me things that I had previously answered in other emails. The communication was so bad that my mother contacted the venue asking if Bob could be my point person. Things did not improve. The venue has one email account for 'the farmhouse' not individual email accounts. Bob's email responses were also a major concern. At times, Kyle responded that she alerted Bob about my unanswered emails. I had to tell Bob I would set up a time to drop payment off in order to get a response to my emails. I didnt know the price pp for my wedding until a month before the event. I got different prices from Kyle and from Bob through the process. Making a seating chart was a disaster because I wasn't emailed the floor plan. I was then emailed one for too few tables the day it was due. 2 days after it was completed (to the best of my ability given the incorrect number of tables) Bob emailed me an updated plan with the table numbers moved around. He told me that I need to change people’s table numbers to fit the plan he sent. With the escort cards already printed, I informed him that I could not do that and would have to re-number the tables. On my wedding day, I hear that Ellen is being rude to my guests and parents, telling them that they are not allowed to talk to each other. My mother shared that Ellen “yelled” at her for talking to family when they arrived. The entree service began 30 minutes late. They appeared to be quite understaffed, perhaps to save money. I paid for 3 bartenders but people reported seeing Kyle and Bob behind the bar serving and that the bartenders were pulled to serve food. I was told I would have 1 staff per 20 guests, which did not appear to be the case. Since the food was so delayed we had to request an additional 30 minutes which we had to pay the DJ for. I emailed the Farmhouse after the wedding requesting a refund for the DJ & also for a $75 curtain for an outdoor ceremony that was not hung. I informed them that I would be writing a review of the venue & was refunded those costs. If I did not say anything about this, the venue would have been content to let me pay for something that I did not receive (the curtain) & extra charges I incurred due to their inability to serve dinner on time. Venue was not worth the stress.

e venue - food, scenery/landscaping, staff, atmosphere and layout, etc. The staff (Bob, Ellen, Catherine, etc.) were pleasant to work with and very accommodating. They were very detailed in making sure everything for our day was well-planned in advance so that we didn't have to worry about a thing come the wedding day. Our guests have had nothing but great things to say about the venue and the food. We chose to have an outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception and this worked wonderfully on a warm day in June. We were thankful for a backup plan, if it decided to rain, but thankfully it did not! We really wanted to have every part of our wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) all in one convenient location and the Farmhouse was perfect for this. Overall, we are ecstatic about how our day turned out and would highly recommend this venue for a wedding or other event. Our only disappointment was not getting to enjoy the food because we were so busy mingling with our guests, etc. We will certainly be returning for a meal (and a show!) at the Bistro soon. I would recommend this GORGOUS venue to any future bride to fulfill their dream wedding. The gardens, the farmhouse, patio, AMAZING. Another Plus was that we were told by MANY guests how delicious the food was- from the smaller scale of the rehearsal dinner all the way to through to the reception. We shopped around at a lot of venues in and around Philadelphia, and we chose this one not just for how breathtaking the scenery is, but it was a great deal. They package everything you would need into one affordable bill, no extra costs or headaches. The catering was delicious and very flexible to fit our specific menu requests. The event staff was also great at returning calls and helping us to solve all of the little details that pop up during the planning process. I would highly recommend this venue if you are looking for a place near the city, but with ample parking and a ton of options.

ious food. There was a staff change 3 weeks before our wedding but everything went off perfectly. We felt understood and supported by the planning staff. The day of, the staff was accommodating and efficient. While there are basic packages available, we were allowed to upgrade and modify to meet our needs (additional liquor choices, appetizers, and entrees). One of the biggest selling points for us was when we were told that we could be as involved as we wanted to be but we were not expected to do anything. Having a competent staff is priceless on your wedding day. We dropped off centerpieces, favors, cornhole boards, and favors with a few post-it's requesting specific placements and everything was set up exactly as we had envisioned. We were able to create an informal, laid back atmosphere outside and then a more formal, elegant dinner/dancing space inside. The indoor space/food was comparable to the venue we researched in downtown Philadelphia but at a much more convenient location for our guests. Hotels are located within a few miles with shuttle service available when rooms are booked. Another bonus is that all guests received a free theater ticket. Will consider for future events!

bridal open house a couple of months before my daughter's wedding to do some measurements, etc. I contacted management ahead of time and asked if it would e permissible to come and was issued an invitation even though we had already booked. Imagine my surprise when I asked for our consultant during the bridal expo. She was no longer working there. I believe we should have been notified when the Farmhouse changed staff, especially the consultant who we were working with, but at the same time I got the impression it was very recent event. We had been working well with the previous consultant. That being said, with the new bridal consultant we were quite anxious but he did prove to be excellent in the end. He worked with us very well via e-mail, always responding to our inquires and was helpful in his suggestions. The food was great, and the cocktail hour was excellent. We received many many compliments on both the food and service, especially the appetizers. The Farmhouse has been updating with the new consultant and he does have some wonderful fresh ideas like adding touches to the outside tent. I believe that the bridal consultant will continue to bring his own ideas to this venue. The only hitch during the reception was that we were promised a champagne toast (as it was in our contract) but a new contract was updated on the website and the toast was extra. We were told that they would honor our older contract but unfortunately we did not realize that there was no champagne toast at the table settings until the first speechmaker called for a toast. We did not complain as everything else met our expectations. In addition the grounds were immaculate and amazingly wonderful even though we had a rainy day.

I was not happy about. First off, I currently live outside of the US so planning the wedding from abroad was not very easy. What made it harder was the fact that the venue manager NEVER returned an email of mine, she was extremly hard to get in touch with and my mom found herself tied up with chasing her on everything. Secondly we signed a contract to have the whole venue including the restaurant to oursevles. To my surprise when I went to the bridal room which is just off the restaurant, the restaurant was full of people and the bridal party's belongings including purses, phones, tablets etc were left unattended in a room which was easily accessible to any of the restautant patrons. I was NOT happy to walk through a packed restaurant to get my purse to touch up my makeup! The venue offered a 'wine pour' to have during the meal. This was a complete rip off. All the guests were offered a SMALL glass of wine and were never topped up. At an extra $5 per guest this was very overpriced. Another point, it was mentioned numerous times that the bridal party would have a waiter to cater to us whilst we were having the photos done to ensure we ate the appetizers and also had drinks. This again did not happen and my dad was left getting drinks for everyone and also hunting down waiters for us to get food! I only tried 2 of the 6 appetizers that I picked out. There were a couple other problems which I dont think need expanding on. The things that did go wrong were addressed in an email to the venue, they did not apologise for anything just offered a small refund for the restaurant. I would have at least liked an apology for items missed. Overall the food was outstanding and the service was ok. The bartenders were professional yet funny. People mentioned they were served very well at the bar! The setting as well was beautiful. Luckily we had the weather!

The banquet manager met us immediately upon our arrival from the church to tell us the status of the cocktail hour, lead us to our smaller area for the bridal party to enjoy cocktails and hors devours and ask if we needed anything. All throughout the evening they were making sure that we were happy and in need of anything. The food was absolutely amazing! We had NY Strip steak, organic chicken breast and vegetarian gnocchi. You would think NY Strip would be overcooked and the chicken would be dry.. but it was not! It was great. The venue is quaint and perfect for pictures. The outside cocktail area is beautiful as guests are able to spread out amongst the garden. Throughout our venue search, I had difficulty finding a place that I really wanted. I wanted something unique, not like a country club and party-friendly. I could not be any happier to have chosen this venue!!

Service on the day of our wedding was impeccable. Our guests were greeted with glasses of ice cold water as the entered the building for cocktail hour. This was very much appreciated by our guests since it was a day of nearly 100 degree weather. Also, I have to say that the food was BY FAR the best food we have ever eaten at a wedding. Usually guests expect food at a wedding to be mediocre. Not this place. The Chef's expertise was evident in the meals that were served. We served Salmon, Steak and a Vegetarian dish -- nearly all of our guests were raving about how good the food was. Many people mentioned how their steak was cooked to perfection and they all seemed to appreciate that the meals were served hot and not warm or undercooked which is typical of event venues that place food under a heat lamp before serving. This place and its staff, give the ultimate service to your function. It's no wonder The Farmhouse has been rated #1 wedding venue in Mainline Today's magazine for 2 years in a row. I can't say enough good things about our wedding reception. From many months of planning to the day of -- The Farmhouse nailed it all!

I recently sent a friend to Farmhouse to see Shane and we found out that SHANE IS NO LONGER WITH THE FARMHOUSE!!!!! I am truly saddened to hear this! Please note that all previous reviews were based on the experience that Shane had provided! New Chef, New Menu, New(MUCH HIGHER) Prices, New Customer Service, New EVERYTHING!!!! Please take caution!

For the wedding we went indoors for the reception with the back deck under the tent and lawn and gardens open for guests to mingle. It was so nice having the indoor and outdoor venue (esp for cocktail hour)and saved me from worrying about weather. Open bar had many selections, could have used more on the hors d'oevres but that was my fault not selecting more. Dinner was delicious, and added an upscale element to the night although we tried to keep it classic and somewhat casual. We extended the dance floor and were glad we did. We had to pay more for that but I think it was worth it. Shane and Sandie were very helpful along the way and seemed to really listen to what we wanted.Great place and an AMAZING value in the greater Philadelphia area.

and we knew that we wanted the ceremony to be in July of 2011. So one day, we casual online search to find reviews of locations in the Delaware/PA area. That’s when we found the Farmhouse at People’s Light. Theater plays an important part in our lives, in fact we met through mutual friends doing a show. This made the Farmhouse even more enticing. Kim quickly sent off an email to Shane, the owner of the Farmhouse. He wrote back letting us know that 2011 was quickly filling up and if we were interested we should set up a meeting as soon as possible. Kim arranged a meeting for Shane, her parents, and the two of us. At the meeting, Shane greeted us. He was dressed rather casually, jeans and a shirt, and I must admit this made me feel more at ease. It told us that he wanted a sense of comfort with everyone. There was no need for big pomp and circumstance, just a casual meeting between prospective client and himself. He spoke freely, never shying from using words or expressing his opinions. Again, this made everyone feel very comfortable. It wasn’t a sales pitch, more like a conversation. We found out his background and that what separated the Farmhouse from other establishments was the food. Food was the priority. After about two hours, the meeting ended and we had pretty much made up our mind. We were going to go with The Farmhouse as our location. Sure it wasn’t a huge ballroom, but it was quaint and simple. The garden where ceremonies are held was perfectly landscaped, and enough trees lined the road to keep the noise level to a minimum. Since our meeting, we have also had a tasting dinner with both sets of our parents. This was held at the restaurant which is part of the Farmhouse. The food was fresh and delicious, which was even more commendable since we our dinner was on the day of a huge power outage in the area. Sandie, the wedding planner, was on premises to make sure we were well attended to. She was very friendly and open to answering any question we might have. Kim, quite the planner herself, has kept in constant communication with Sandie about dinner details, what to do about RSVP cards, and suggestions on vendors. Sandie has been available at all times to answer all questions and has done so in a timely manner. She and Shane have also reminded us on numerous occasions that the day is about Kim and Chris. They gave us suggestions but reminded us, “it’s up to you two what you want.” Needless to say, we feel quite relaxed and comfortable going into 2011 and our upcoming wedding. Sandie and Shane have never forced any of their ideas on us or forced us to use a certain vendor. All of our vendors have come from their list, except for the photographer who is a family friend, but we chose the vendors based on our conversations with them not on any pressure from Sandie or Shane. Why? Because there was no pressure! I would highly recommend the Farmhouse at People’s Light to anyone looking for a quaint, small, food oriented place for their wedding. The reception hall will easily fit the 150-200 people we are inviting, and the outdoor patio and garden are added spaces. It has been such a delight working with Shane and Sandie and we look forward to all our time with them leading up to our wedding on July 16, 2011

the planning process was awesome. They always made us feel comfortable and important. The Farmhouse was the perfect setting for our late fall reception. The grounds surrounding the venue provided our photographer many opportunities to capture some unique and beautiful shots. We also wanted to serve food at our wedding that was both high quality and delicious and we were most definitely satisfied! Many of our guests commented that our menu selections were "the best wedding food ever". Overall, a great place, friendly staff and excellent service and a very happy bride and groom!
