- Derrick PattonBass/Vocals/Band LeaderDerrick Patton is the bass player, a vocalist and co-founder of The Funk Junkies. Derrick and Q Tee Cole started the group in Mississippi in 2014 and brought the band to Nashville in 2024, bringing in new personnel and a full horn section! Derrick began his professional music career in 1998 while attending Alcorn State University on a music education scholarship. He became active playing in blues clubs and casinos before joining a Motown tribute band, The Compozitionz. His tenure with the group lasted from 2001 - 2012. Derrick continued to work as a freelance musician, playing for serval bands and artists, until founding The Funk Junkies. The majority of Derrick’s performing life is now spent with the Funk Junkies and he continues to be a substitute for different groups in his spare time.
- Q Tee ColeVocals/Band LeaderFirst Lady of The Funk Junkies, QTee Cole is a vocalist and co-founder of the Funk Junkies. She is also skilled as a lighting technician and tambourine virtuoso! QTee was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, where she began her musical career as a lead vocalist. Q Tee has years of performing experience, fronting bands at festivals, concerts, corporate events and weddings throughout the Southern Region. She dedicates most of her time to The Funk Junkies and giving back to the community through mentorship and music education.
- Tim GriemeTenor Sax/Booking ContactTim Grieme plays tenor saxophone and flute occasionally for The Funk Junkies. Tim also helps out behind the scenes, acting as social media manager, booking contact, a little bit of everything; when you reach out, Tim will be the one you communicate with! Tim hails from the metro Detroit area. He grew up learning to play by studying with local pros and attending sessions in the city before going to music school. He was an active performer in and out of school, playing local venues and events as well as stages at the Detroit Jazz Festival and Dizzy Jazz Club in NYC. He also served as band manager for In The Blue for many years. Tim now dedicates his time as both a performer and educator. He plays and fills in for numerous groups in Nashville: Triple Dare Jazz Band, Reeve Stimpson, The Funk Junkies and more!
- Erik FrykmanElectric GuitarErik Frykman is the guitar player for The Funk Junkies and can be heard ripping solos all night long. Erik originally hails from the Bay Area in California. He spent many years as both a performer and educator. He has been a part of several cover bands and corporate event groups, including Catch 22 and Magnetic Talent. Erik now dedicates the majority of his performing life to The Funk Junkies.
- John HunterKeys/SynthJohn Hunter is a true Nashville native, music producer and keys/synth player for the Funk Junkies. You can also hear John supporting the group with background vocals! His performing career has spanned more than 30 years and has taken him abroad on international tours, as well as domestically at NAMM industry showcases, local music festivals and venues such as Exit/In, TPAC, and Printers Alley. John is an active member in numerous music communities in Nashville and is largely involved in the resurgence of the Historic Jefferson Street corridor.
- Joseph FriersonDrums/Sound EngineerJoseph Frierson is the keeper of time, groove goat, and drummer for The Funk Junkies. He also helps out with sound production and making sure The Funk Junkies sound great, no matter the room. Born and raised in Nashville, Joseph started playing drums at the age of one years old. Joe has a real passion for playing the drums and has shared the stage with some big artists in the gospel and secular worlds. Joseph is an active performer and can be heard playing with a wide variety of groups around Nashville in addition to the Funk Junkies!
- Bill TransleyTrumpetBill Transley plays trumpet for The Funk Junkies and has been performing for decades, both domestically and internationally. He got his first big gig at just 16 years old, joining the Jimmy Church band and is still an active member today! Bill joined The Endavors, a soul group from Cincinnati, Ohio before becoming a member of the B.B. King Allstar Band in Nashville. His tenure with the band would take him internationally, performing in Germany, Portugal and Romania. Bill remains active in the Nashville music scene, playing with the Jimmy Church Band, Nashville Soundz, Funk Junkies and more.
- Geoff CoxAlto Saxophone/FluteGeoff Cox is the alto saxophone player for The Funk Junkies. He plays many of the woodwind instruments and can even occasionally be heard playing flute with the group. Geoff was born in a suburb of New York City and spent his early years playing in blues, rock, and after hours clubs and casinos along the east coast. Geoff stays active in the music scene in Nashville. He can be heard playing sax, flute, Irish whistle, and wind synth on lots of albums and movie scores. He keeps a busy performing schedule, playing with a wide assortment of groups and artists, most notably The Jimmy Church Band.
- David HumbertsonTromboneDavid Humbertson is the Trombone player for the Funk Junkies and holds down to the low end of the horn section! David comes to Nashville from Maryland where he performed with numerous ensembles and groups, most notably the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra and the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Since relocating to Nashville David continues to add to his extensive resume, performing with various group and on stages at venues including the Grand Old Opry and Bridgestone Arena. David is also an educator in the public schools and the Professor of Trombone at local universities.
