looking at wedding venues throughout Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but not seriously. It wasn't until unforeseen circumstances in my family (illness) that made the decision-making process more critical. Thus our wedding date moved up sooner than we originally intended. We only had a few short weeks to fully plan our wedding. After looking at what seemed like an endless sea of options (e.g., deciding between a large vs. intimate space, in-house catering/decor vs. using outside vendors, etc.), we were overwhelmed to say the least. We decided if we were going to get married in just a few short weeks, we had to go with something that had it all so we could have peace of mind. I finally came across The Gatehouse and ultimately chose it for several reasons. The location was suitable for most of our guests, available parking, the indoor space was just right for the amount of expected guests (~75 people) with an outdoor covered space for overflow, and it was all-inclusive for food/beverage, decor, hospitality/coordination, and DJ/entertainment. Christi made planning for our big day seamless. Before the wedding, she guided us on what was customizable/provided options, and allowed us to include our preferences on what we wanted. She provided a timeline of the day which was a huge help and weight off our shoulders. This allowed us to focus on other things like getting our marriage license, wedding attire, music playlist, extra decor/flowers/guest favors, and booking our officiant, photographer, and videographer. The day of the wedding was smooth. Christi and Jen were our Day of Coordinators. Before and after the Ceremony, we were walked through what was to happen so we didn't have to think much about what was coming next. It really helped with my nerves. After the Ceremony, we had so much fun at our Reception, and our guests had a blast. It was an absolute hit, from the food and cake to the music. Everyone had many nice things to say about our wedding day and loved how beautiful the space looked. They still talk about it to this day. We want to thank Christi and The Gatehouse crew for making our day special and a truly unforgettable experience. We recommend The Gatehouse to those looking for something more intimate and a stress relief from planning such an eventful day like a wedding, anniversary, or party. Thanks again!

The only downside is that all of your guests may not be able to see all of the reception activities if they do not peak in or come inside. That was not a deal breaker for me. The coordinator, Christi, is great at delivering her services. She also allows vendors to come in if you would like to do things she doesn't provide. If you are looking for something more modern, she is willing to be flexible and try to achieve that vibe. I definitely asked plenty of questions and for things outside of her normal services to achieve the modern, romantic feeling I wanted. She was patient with me and met with me outside of our normal meeting times. I really appreciated that. The food was great! Everyone loved it. If I had to focus on something that I really wished was different, it would be the tone of the conversations. It can feel a bit snippy sometimes. The focus can also feel like it is about her wedding and vision, rather than yours. If you let her, she will pick out decor, signage, setup, etc. If you are okay with that, go for it. If you want more of a say, just say so. I did, as I planned my own wedding. If you can be open to hearing her out (sometimes she offers great perspectives based on her experience), stay true to your vision, and speak up, I would definitely recommend the place. d and cakes were delicious and the d.j. was able to accommodate some of our unusual requests. Christie is the owner/coordinator and she was always on top of things. My son and his wife could not have asked for a better beginning to their marriage!

us happiness spread to my future-in-laws leading us to book sight unseen. Christi made sure to work with us on a date and time so myself and my Fiancé could be present to view the venue in-person. Although we were 13-14 months ahead of our anticipated date Christi played the role of “Fairy Godmother” from the “Yes” moment until the “I do’s”and “Farewells”were said. She went above and beyond to make sure we understood the process, knew what to expect and made the entire wedding planning experience such a breeze. Our first meeting we were ushered in and immediately put at ease, waiting for us were planners with everything laid out. She was prepared and ready to make our dream a reality whether we had 50-100 guest. We were given 2 options to choose from The “Classic”package & The “Premium” package. For someone that wanted a beautiful wedding without the stress we choose the premium package that catered to our ever need. Which worked out perfectly when we found out we were expecting 5 months before the event. We didn’t have to go through the stress or hassle, we got to sit back and enjoy the ride and didn’t have to lift a finger except for cake tasting. We would recommend The Gatehouse our event was everything we could have asked for million times over. Christi made sure the event went off without a hitch even with unforeseen circumstances like losing a groomsmen 2 weeks before and having an extra bridesmaids, Christi waved her wand and I didn’t have to worry. The guest are still raving on about the superior food, beautiful ambiance, lively music and the wonderful experience. Our day was one to remember ❤️

The DJ was great and played every song requested. And the staff was friendly and attentive. I really can't say enough good things. I've been to plenty of weddings that were disappointing so I am so happy to say that I, my parents, my husband, and all of our guests had a great time and enjoyed every aspect of our wedding and it's all thanks to Christi and her staff at The Gatehouse.

The venue handles so much that you really just have to worry about your attire, guest list, photographer, and florist. I was originally drawn to this venue because of how beautiful it is, but after having my wedding there, it is so much more than that. You get so much for an affordable price. I could not have asked for a better wedding!

in 6 months. My first meeting I was greeted with a planning binder and a list of "to-do's". Throughout the planning process all I had to do was shoot an email or a quick call to go over what we had in mind. Our cooridnator, Christ Edwards is the best I've ever encountered. All of our guests were able to be guests and not have to worry about setting up or taking down a thing. The day of the wedding was seemless! She checked up on me making sure everyone was having a great time, kept the timeline going perfecting all the while my family and friends danced the night away. I would 100% reccomend getting married at The Gatehouse if you're on the fence. Best experience of my life

Second, Christi was absolutely amazing! She has the events down to a science and truly makes each event focused on the bride and groom. Third, (again about Christi, what can I say she is a rockstar) she was always available to us when we had a question or concern, and even had many helpful suggestions when we looked into certain things for our special day. Our wedding was PERFECT. The food was outstanding, the venue beautiful, and the entire staff went above and beyond. I could go on and on about how wonderful The Gatehouse was, and I will say this, if you don't book with this venue, you are doing yourself an injustice. Even my now husband is still raving about how perfect our wedding was and how impressed he was with everything.

From the first phone call to her walking my family out to the car at the end of the party, Christi's many years of experience were fully realized. After meeting with her at the venue, all details of the party were planned via email/phone calls. All details were carried out with excellence & joy. Courteous and prompt attention to every minute detail took all stress from me for this most important life event for my Mom. Christi treats her clients as her own family. She provides all vendors, services for a seamless event custom made for full enjoyment by all. The Gatehouse is truly an all inclusive venue, no surprise add ons, no surprises, period. Communication for a large event is primary. Christi leaves nothing assumed, nor unconfirmed. In my experience, she confirmed confirmations ! She answers her phone on the first ring or replies to messages/emails within an hour or 2. The Gatehouse ballroom and grounds provide the perfect setting for any occasion. Parking is more than ample for your event, easily accesses the ballroom. We had many elderly guests who were able to get around easily. The covered drop off area made impending rains no threat at all for arriving guests. A lavishly appointed "brides room" provides quiet for anyone needing it, including nursing moms who were at the party. Any special needs are attended to for your guests(including strained relationships within the guest party) The ballroom & well designed grounds are the ultimate in Southern charm and beauty. Christi and her team reflect the same throughout the event. The grounds are lavishly designed for year round use. Our numbers exceeded what we expected. Christi assured me it would be ok. She threw open the French doors and invited guests to enjoy the tables, gardens, gazebo, fountains outside. Not much is needed for this spacious beautiful venue, as a perfect picture moment is at every turn. However, Christi shines in suggesting from her varied array of fine linens, candelabra, florals, votives, anything for tablescapes, music, etc. If you desire a "WOW !" detail, she has it for you. She will creatively design for your look. Flowers: Christi quickly referred me to Billy Heromans about 5 minutes away for the most excellent flower creations. On the day of the party, Christi received the order and perfectly placed all flowers as we'd discussed. Christi quickly gets to know her clients, then works to create the custom celebration that perfectly reflects the guest(s) of honor. Food/wines/beverages: I watched as our 100+ guests returned to the delicious huge food buffet, not once, but twice in many cases.. The bar was very busy pouring some of the most lovely wines. It all reminded me of Thanksgiving with my big family! Eat, drink, and be very merry. The packages offered are most helpful in planning this part. Traffic flow is well thought out in this venue. There is no feeling of crowding at all. All the while Christi & her team are moving about, making sure guests have what they need/want. I've hosted many large parties, 2 large weddings for our daughters. I'm a control freak! But at The Gatehouse, I totally let go, gave it all to Christi, relaxed and enjoyed everything. The Gatehouse truly has it all. Christi made Mom's party so special. Because of Mom's limited mobility, Chisti set her up in an antique setee where she could see all her guest, and they could see her. She could sit as guests came throughout the party to sit & visit with her. Mom's party fun continues today as family &friends continue to call her to talk once again about all the details and beautiful things that The Gatehouse did for her celebration. It was a most memorable 90th birthday. Mom was honored well. I'd return here for any type of gathering in the future, because of the excellence in client service, professional planning, lavish setting, outstanding food/beverages, stress free, perfect fun ! We also brought in a caricature artist and she was flexible with coordinating everything with him. The food was amazing, the venue was gorgeous and our guest raved about how perfect everything was, especially for a group our size, 60. If we had to do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing. time. The venue was/is beautiful and the food was perfect. I got so many compliments about how professional and personal everything was. We were married on November 11th, 2017 and about 2 months we had a cold snap come through into the 40's (I am not a fan of cold weather). I ask her to promise that on my wedding day the temperature would be in the mid-70's. She joked and said she would try and she did. The weather that day was 74 degrees. What more can I say she is awesome. The staff even came out and danced with us and the guest. They made our wedding day just perfect. Please if you are looking for a beautiful place to have your wedding, with a wonderful caring staff, will listen to even the minor details try the gatehouse. We had our reception there and I really thought that Christi was just going to introduce us and make sure that we stayed on schedule. Well we were wrong she exceeded our expectations. She ran around the entire time making sure we were on schedule, had everything that we could possibly want and that everything went perfectly. When we left she put a basket of our food (because we had to much fun and no time to eat) and a bottle of champagne! I can’t express how great our experience. If you want a stress free wedding go here!
