Need to get ready for your event? Plush and refined, with cushy seating and magnificent dressing mirrors, the Celebration Suite offers the perfect place. A powder room and well-stocked refrigerator (champagne, anyone?) round out the amenities in this very special suite, which accommodates 20 guests and offers secure storage for belongings. The Celebration Suite is complimentary with The George rental, but is also available on its own for small gatherings such as dress fittings, showers and more.
Drawing inspiration from a London club, the Madcap Lounge is a walk-down within the National Block building and just one floor removed from The George. Thoughtfully designed to offer guests a thoroughly unique and intimate experience, the space is made up of multiple vignettes. Imagine sipping bourbon in the library, indulging in healthy conversation over a game of billiards or sampling craft cocktails at the bar. Like The George, the lounge will feature works by vintage and contemporary Wisconsin artists.
The Madcap Lounge is available as a complement to The George or on its own and can accommodate parties of up to 120. Space within the lounge may be partitioned to create the desired atmosphere. Also perfect for corporate meetings and post-meeting dinner/cocktail parties, rehearsal dinners and other special celebrations.

The George and Madcap Lounge is unmatched compared to any other wedding venue! My husband and I were married at The George in April 2024 and it was the best decision we ever made!
Both The George and Madcap Lounge are beautiful in their own way and make for great wedding photos! Our guests also loved the spaces and all the art as well.
The entire George team was professional and helpful from the start of planning to the day of. They were always on top of things and made my family, husband, and I feel so welcomed and comfortable. There was no pressure from their team on deciding what package to go with or how things should be done. They also gave us ample time to make decisions. No matter the time, they were always available for questions and meetings.
I would highly recommend The George and Madcap Lounge to anyone looking for an upscale wedding venue! We had the best experience!
The George and Madcap Lounge were awesome for our wedding!
We got married at The George in August, 2024. While the groom is originally from Milwaukee, the Bride is from the East Coast and we currently live in Colorado, so many of our guests travelled from afar to attend which posed some challenges.
The George was a great solution for us! The ability to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception under one roof simplified logistics for us and our guests.
More importantly than the convenience, the venue is SPECTACULAR - what a gem! The George decor is classy, elegant and a bit (but not too much) eclectic. The George is impeccably decorated with works from local artists and restored to at least as nice as any former glory it had. The George space easily and comfortably held our ceremony, dinner and reception (~120 people), and the beautiful west-facing picture window lets in abundant light making the ceremony very photogenic.
Our cocktail hour was held in the Madcap Lounge and absolutely WOWED our guests. The multiple rooms, each immaculately and comfortably furnished, were very impressive and each room is cooler than the last. It fostered our guests circulating as they wanted to explore the space. There's some Milwaukee history as well which just adds to the unique and authentic feel of the space.
There's a VERY nice celebration / preparation suite that the bride and her Mom and "girls" got to do hair / makeup and pregame - all catered to ensure they had enough energy for the long day.
The "room flip" (changing from ceremony to dinner / reception) was very prompt and frankly jaw dropping. The reception space was every bit as beautiful as the earlier ceremony space, and was easily ready in time to call the guests up to dinner from the Madcap Lounge.
Crystal (Manager of The George/Madcap Lounge) has an absolute wealth of information about the building, it's history and ways to best utilize all the resources the venue has to offer. We found her approach as quite "can do" and accommodating as we had some special needs guests.
Finally, we used Saz's Catering for the food and beverage piece. Michelle and her team were awesome. They really took care of us and the food and drinks were great - our guests were VERY impressed (and well fed...).
If you're looking for a cool, unique and beautiful venue that allows you to have ceremony, cocktail party, dinner and reception under one roof, then you can't go wrong with The George and Madcap Lounge. It has all we could have hoped for and more, and our experience with the staff was absolutely top notch.

Working with the team at The George was a blessing! They made the process so easy. They reviewed every detail of our day to ensure they brought our vision to life. We had some untraditional aspects to our wedding and The George team was more than happy to accommodate. This venue is so unique and full of flare but still showcases the historic charm. We could not have asked for a better venue or a better team for our big day. Food, drinks, staff, function of the space, all spectacular!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The George and Madcap Lounge in Milwaukee, where we celebrated our wedding in April 2024. We hosted both our ceremony and reception here, and it was absolutely perfect. Every single guest was blown away by the venue’s beauty and the kindness of the staff. The team genuinely went above and beyond, making our friends and family feel incredibly welcomed – we saw staff laughing with our guests, helping everyone feel at ease, and treating everyone like family.
My wife is vegan, and we had several guests with other dietary restrictions. The venue didn’t just accommodate these needs – they ensured everyone had thoughtful, high-quality options. My wife felt truly included in the meal, and the vegan and other special menu items were delicious. Even now, guests are still raving about the cheesy grits we had at dinner!
Working with their team was a dream. The staff coordinated seamlessly with our wedding planner, so my partner and I had absolutely no stress on the day of the wedding. The space itself is breathtaking, from the grand event areas to the bathrooms, where even the smallest details in interior decoration showed such intentionality. We exchanged vows overlooking the stunning picture wall filled with local Milwaukee art, which added such a special touch and a real connection to the community.
One of the most important things for us was having an inclusive environment, and The George and Madcap Lounge were incredibly respectful and affirming of our queer wedding. We felt safe, respected, and supported throughout every part of the process. My fiancé & I toured The George & Madcap Lounge for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party. The space is absolutely stunning and very well maintained! It is SO unique. We met with Jaime from Saz's as she stepped in to give us the tour due to our very limited availability and she was LOVELY! Such a wealth of knowledge not only on the space but also the industry as a whole. She even took the time to show us another one of their properties as we were still looking for a wedding venue - so kind! I highly recommend checking it out!
Having my wedding at The George was the best decision I could have ever made... Not only is the venue a completely unique experience and absolute spectacle, the in house staff and caterer are second to none. We worked with Crystal and she was extremely detail oriented, flexible, responsive and incredible to work with from start to finish. Not to mention, our contact at Saz's catering, Michelle, was a dream come true. She was like a built in planner and answered my MANY questions and made the planning process absolutely seamless and stress free. My guests were BLOW AWAY by The George and are still talking about the venue months later. I promise you will wow your guests and have the most special day here. My husband I were married at The George on New Years and the entire experience was a dream from start to finish--from the very first tour until midnight. The food was excellent, the service was incredible (attention to detail was amazing!) and the event planning was very well done.
We had such a wonderful time and could not have picked a better venue. Michelle (the event coordinator) was incredibly responsive and took all of our minor changes easily in stride. Everyone who worked the event was kind and diligent. Beyond service, the venue itself is beautiful and we received many compliments from guests. The bridal suite was wonderful to get ready in. Could not have imagined a better place to get married!
My husband and I hosted our three year anniversary post Covid at the George. This was our postponed wedding. The first time we walked in the building, we fell in love with the place right away! The upstairs ballroom is elegant and classy. The lower level lounge is fun and full of London bar vibe. We ended up renting both floors. When the guests arrived, they were very surprised and shocked of everything!
The Saz catering team did a great job. From planning to serving, they were very detail oriented and strive to the best. The end result was excellent. Everything was in the details and the catering team all were happy for us and took a good care of us!
This is an indoor venue so good for all seasons. Non need to worry about rain or snow. Would be a good choice if you are looking for a classy, fun, the great gatsby vibe. We had a Jazz band and the whole place turned into a Jazz night club!

My husband and I got married at The George a week ago and our wedding could not have been more perfect! Michelle and Crystal were fabulous to work with and truly went above and beyond. The venue is gorgeous and requires little to no additional decoration. Our guests especially loved the unique Madcap Lounge downstairs. The food was delicious (not at all your typical mediocre wedding dinner) and the service staff was fantastic. Getting ready in the Celebration Suite was an absolute dream. We feel so lucky to have gotten married in the most spectacular place and cannot recommend The George highly enough!
My husband and I just had our wedding here this past weekend and wow everything was above and beyond. Michelle and crystal were so easy to work with and super responsive with every question leading up to the wedding day. Pictures of the venue itself does not do it justice. It is beyond beautiful, if you are looking for a wedding venue take the time to tour this one and you will see for yourself the beauty and detail that this venue has to offer. Our guests were giving us SO many compliments all night with how amazing of a space it is both upstairs and down in the madcap lounge. This is not your generic wedding venue. It’s got class, elegance in the main reception area and a cool speakeasy hip vibe in the downstairs area for cocktail hour. I can’t say enough good things about this place. It was the most perfect night!
We do not have enough positive things to say about The George and Madcap Lounge!! We were married on 9/22/23, and from start to finish, our day was an absolute dream come true. We worked closely with Crystal (the building coordinator) and Michelle (event planner with Saz's hospitality). Both of these ladies were STELLAR to work with- so organized, communicative, and informative. They put our minds at ease with all of the overwhelming choices, and helped us make informed decisions, while also staying true to our vision.
As for the George and Madcap Lounge- All of our guests were raving about the event space the entire night. There is truly nothing like this in the Milwaukee area!! We had our ceremony in the George, and it was so beautiful and regal with tons of natural light. But the real star of the show was the Madcap- our guests LOVED this cool speakeasy vibe for cocktail hour. We kept the event space open all night too if people wanted to relax, play pool, or take a break from the dancing and fun upstairs. This fit our theming absolutely perfectly and made an impression with EVERYONE! Not to mention, the building was spotlessly clean and brand new- they even have their own signature candle scent that was burning the entire night!
If you want a unique wedding or event venue in Milwaukee, look no further. This place was worth every penny and more. It made for an absolute fairytale of a day.

We worked with Saz's for the catering and it was a wonderful experience. Katie was our Senior Event Planner, and she made the process incredibly efficient and pleasant. She provided great, pragmatic and honest advice during our tasting, which helped us hone in on exactly what we wanted for our wedding. She was always reachable, and she communicated with the urgency that was required when we needed to provide information ahead of an upcoming deadline.
The servers, the food, the signature cocktails, the late-night food--everything was perfect.

The George blew our expectations for what a venue could be out of the water. Super sophisticated but also eclectic, the vibe is elevated and unique in the Milwaukee area. The Madcap Lounge adds an extra special ambiance to the evening if you choose to use it for the room flip or even after dinner dancing. Saz's offers a wide variety of meal selections and preparations which made the food and beverage selection a breeze. I would recommend this venue to anyone getting married in Milwaukee. 10/10!!

I am obsessed with The George and cannot say enough positive things about the venue, the decor, the ambience, the food, the service, and the team. My fiancé (now husband) and I had our dream New Year’s Eve wedding here and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. From getting ready in the celebration suite with my girlfriends and family to our first look surrounded by stunning artwork, sunset pics on the rooftop, and a dance party to ring in the new year, this venue has everything you could want. Not to mention the unique endless photo opportunities throughout the whimsical Madcap Lounge. HIGHLY recommend. There was never any stress about coordinating catering at the venue because as a Saz’s venue they had all their bases covered and made our lives easier.
The George was the perfect venue for our wedding. We were set on another venue until we toured here and decided we had to cut down our guest list to fit in this venue. It is truly remarkable how every detail of every room is carefully decorated and thought-through. Our wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. Saz's was also helpful in planning our wedding day. During the planning process, most of our decisions or requests were totally accommodated. There were a couple of hiccups where we felt that some things we were pitched as possible ended up not being possible or came with a fee that wasn't disclosed earlier. Overall, though, we would recommend this venue to anyone. The food, the drinks, the service and staff on our wedding day were all as perfect as the space itself!

SO much history and beauty within every single crack of this place. Once my husband and I viewed The George, we knew instantly this was the venue for our wedding. The staff was amazing - helpful from the start of the day to the end. We ordered food for both the bridesmaids and the ladies in the morning and lunch, both SO delicious. Our event coordinators were truly incredible leading up to the wedding and day of. I am a details person and they were SO detailed throughout the entire process and very knowledgeable.
Food the day of our wedding was honestly still one of our favorite meals to date. We got the Almond Crusted Walleye which half of our wedding ordered and it was to die for. We hosted the cocktail hour in the Madcap Lounge and received SO many compliments about it feeling like a New York speakeasy. This place is extremely elegant and artsy all in one. The bathrooms are even amazing. I would recommend this place time and time again to absolutely anyone. There is truly no other venue like this in the area.

The George and Madcap Lounge was the perfect venue for our wedding! We were looking for a unique ceremony and reception site, where we could have a "magical room flip" while guests enjoyed cocktail hour. The venue was the perfect fit for us - The George is gorgeous and doesn't need much additional decor because of the artwork and structure. The Madcap Lounge is the best for cocktail hour - it makes it feel as though the cocktail hour is a special event on it's own, not just an afterthought to get the reception venue ready. Both the staff at The George and Saz's were so great to work with. They were quick to answer our questions and provided all the support we needed leading up to and during our big day. All of our guests were blown away by the venue and the food. It truly was an unforgettable wedding; we have no complaints other than that it's over!

The venue itself is so beautiful and unique. Our guests would not stop talking about the food, and I highly recommend the five course meal option and of course the late night apps. The celebration suite is gorgeous as well and spacious for your bridal party's things. The waitstaff was great, and continued to check in with us throughout the night. We were worried about location/parking but everything worked out and we did not hear any complaints from our guests. I wish we could do it all over again!

This is an unique beautiful venue. Beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The staff were fantastic, went above and beyond by standing in the rain for crowd control. The food...wow! People are still talking about the how delicious the salmon was. Mac and Cheese bar was a hit! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
What an AMAZING venue!!!!! We held our holiday party here and everyone loved it! The Madcap Lounge was the show stopper. Very unique and beautifully designed. The service was top notch. We will certainly be brining our annual holiday party back to this venue.
I'm a local photographer and have had the chance to photograph the George and Madcap Lounge a few times, and I can say is WOW. This new venue is a wedding photographer's dream. There are so many areas within the venues to take stunning photos- every inch of the space was intentionally designed with excellence in mind. The natural light that comes through the George ballroom is stunning, and the Madcap Lounge gives a fun, moody feel to photos that you'll be fawning over for years to come. This is a must-see wedding venue that will be the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos!
I recently toured this space and I am left speechless. The whole venue is breathtaking. The details are impeccable and I will dream about that bridal suite every day! The madcap lounge on the bottom floor is unlike anything I have ever seen in Milwaukee! Truly, the whole space is something that can’t even be described! Run, don’t walk!
