This Hall is falling apart. Search google and see the pictures from the horrible leaking ceiling.
We had a holiday party there a few weeks ago and it was raining on my employees ...
and their guests. There were trash cans by the tables catching the water pouring down from the ceiling.
It was embarrassing and the only thing the Mr Primavera kept repeating is that this is a new problem and it is because of a flat roof. Well, he lied because my wife and I were there a month ago and the ceiling was leaking. My daughter was there 2 years ago for a fund raiser and guess what... the ceiling was leaking. The manager Carole said the same thing. "This is a new problem and it is because of the flat roof. Every building with a flat roof leaks, it happens to everyone."
Stay away unless you are looking for a wet experience!
My husband and I had our wedding reception here 1 week ago today! We both were extremely happy with how everything turned out! The event coordinator was easy to work with and made ...
sure everything was perfect for our special day! The staff that was working the night of our reception was great, very attentive, professional and kind. All the food was fabulous and we got many compliments about it!! The green beans were my favorite!! The cookie table was beautiful!! We both would not change anything about our experience with The Georgetown and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a venue for any event!!
When I was looking for a venue for our reception, I knew I wanted a reputable establishment where I had good experiences before. I called The Georgetown & when they were available,...
I booked. I knew they were a reputable business, with long term staff to take good care of us & the day. I have a hospitality degree and manage my family's restaurant & small banquet facility. I do this for a living, so I know attention to detail & customer service is key to any event, especially weddings. A few weeks after booking & meeting with Carol, the banquet manager, she unfortunately retires. This is not concerning for me, as she has every right to retire, for putting in so many hours, weekends, & knowing from experience, this isn't an easy profession as some may assume. So, when I called to question the rumor, she assured me she would still be on a few weddings & mine was one of them, although this wasn't the case. When we went in to pick out the menu, there was a woman there being trained by the retiree-nice, but not overly bright-started to worry at this point, but still had faith. Called a couple months later to make a payment, was told the lady I met with before was fired & I was introduced to yet another woman, who assured me everything was going to be taken care of. Was then introduced to two male family members of the establishment, who were supposedly going to be present at my reception (they were not.) The day before my reception, we dropped off cookies, guest book, etc., there is yet another employee I had not met before. So from start to finish, every time I contacted them, I had to deal with a new person. A bride that has to repeat herself 20 times over the same things gets old real quick. We show up the day of the wedding, the hall is 1000 degrees, quite literal. So hot, I had to go into the restroom, take off my gown, just to cool off a bit, and my cake was melting. There were not enough seats for my bridal party, the hall was not set up at all the way they had emailed me so it totally messed the seating chart up, the menu we picked stated 2 dressings (only Italian was served), no butter for rolls, tables were not skirted as advertised in our package,we were supposed to have candelabras on our buffet (they couldn't find them, then found them, then I had to go get candles because they didn't have any, I show up & they already had them-total waste of my time & money), the bar shelving was coated with dust, they "forgot" to give me the top of my cake & said I never asked for it (I think I had enough to worry about-it was their job to make sure we had it), they tried taking my cake stand, and best of all we paid for 300 people for the buffet and only 240 rsvp'd (we were told we could not lower the #, which was fine so we paid for the 300 people-only 220 showed up and at the end of the night, we only got 1/2 pan of pasta, 13 meatballs, 1/2 pan of potatoes, none of the top sirloin, 18 pieces of dry chicken with no sauce, a pan of lettuce which was browning, & small bowls of fruit, veggies, and cheese from our appetizer tables. This is NOT enough food for 60 people. Again, I do this for a living & where I work, we don't cheat people out of what they pay for. And on top of ALL of that, they are lucky I was easy going, because we ended up letting it go & having a good time, but the majority of the memories I have of my reception is talking to my guests & them tell me how hot it was. To say I was disappointed would be a definite understatement!!!
This banquet hall was perfect for my special day. The food was hot and delicious (buffet style). The room was set up beautifully. They set up a wonderful cookie table. They also...
run specials and packages, we got a great deal including bar, food, chair covers and other perks that saved us a great deal of money. It doesn't look like much from the outside, especially since it is on the end of a strip plaza and the parking lot needs work, but it is a whole different world inside. I had a wedding for 325 people
The food at the Georgetown was fabulous. However it was not served on time. I wanted dinner served at 7 it was about 20 minutes late and even though it was only 20 minutes it threw...
us behind for toastes and dances and such.
The lighting package was beautiful and the way they spot light the cake was great too. However. They did not serve cake to half the hall. When my mother spoke to a worker there they said they would be right back and never came back. Nor did they leave any form of knife out for people to cut the cake themselves.
They threw away some of my decorations from the cake table when I specifically asked what they were going to do with the stuff since we couldn't get in till Monday to pick it up. They didn't say they would throw it away.
The food was absolutely delicious and amazing! The staff was very friendly and attentive. They listened to everything that we wanted. Further, the set up of the cookie table was...
beautiful, the lighting above the dance floor and on the cake table was gorgeous and the table and chair linens were perfect. Couldn't have asked for anything better or more!!
the staff is nice, and the food is good.
The Georgetown is an amazing banquet facility! My husband and I were so happy we had our wedding here. I heard nothing but fantastic reviews about how good the food was and about t...
he excellent bar service from our guests. With that being said, I can not say enough about how horrible the General Manager is. She is rude, unorganized and makes you feel that is a chore to help you. She had our reception down as going from 6-10 pm even though our contract said 7-11 pm. Thankfully, we figured this out the day before the wedding and saved a disaster from happening. She also insulted my mother-in-law about how many cookies they had to tray. Granted we had over 3,000 cookies, but my husband's cousin had her wedding a few months before at Mr. Anthony's with the same amount and nothing was said to them. She also told me that the cookie and cake tables are not lighted so I paid our florist to do so. It wasn't cheap either. I find out the day before that they are both lighted by the Georgetown. You're the general manager how to do you not know that?! Wedding planning is stressful enough and this lady made it 10 times worse. When we originally booked here we had the best consultant in the world. Sadly, she took a position with another company a few months before our wedding and we were left to deal with this nightmare of general manager. If we would have met her during our original consultation we would have NEVER booked there. Bottom line, Georgetown has the best food in Youngstown and they do beautiful weddings, but buyer beware. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with the downright rude management when you can go a number of other places and be treated much, much better.
I worked with Stacey at The Georgetown and she made sure my every wish came true! She worked so well with me and my reception was beautiful! I couldn't have done it without all her...
help and advice! Not to mention the food is the best in the area! Great place to have large weddings and with the lighting package the place is just beautiful! Everyone had a great time and I couldn't have asked for anything better!
A bit pricy, but worth it. Food was absolutely amazing, servers/staff/bartenders went above and beyond. Get the lighting package.
The room looked great! The food was good. The kindly packed a to-go back for the bride and groom. Very accommodating and easy to work with. Lots of packages to choose from. Th...
e only downside is the location, it's in an ugly strip-mall. The Georgetown has a very 70's feel, but it worked for my wedding.
I had so many compliments on how great the food is here. The staff is extremely helpful and are willing to do whatever it takes to make your vision a reality!
I love the ambience!! I love the chandeliers and the food is amazing!!!;Make sure everything is in writing for the specifics of the evening.
