From the moment you arrive at The Glen House, you’re greeted with sweeping, majestic views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Range that make you pause and take it all in. It’s not just a hotel stay – it feels like stepping into a postcar...

The property itself blends modern boutique charm with New England warmth. Whether you’re relaxing by the fire or enjoying the cozy, elegant touches throughout, it feels intimate and thoughtfully designed – never crowded or overwhelming.
And the food? Absolutely outstanding. Whether you’re here for brunch or dinner, every dish is prepared with care and creativity. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, the dining experience rivals the best restaurants in the White Mountains. It’s rare to find a place where the culinary experience matches the scenery, but The Glen House delivers on both.
From service to setting, this is a place that makes you feel taken care of while letting you fully enjoy the natural beauty around you. A truly amazing boutique experience that I can’t recommend enough – perfect for a weekend getaway, special dinner, or just treating yourself to something unforgettable.

The only reason for the three star review is because we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant called the Notche Grille but rather than eat in the restaurant area, you are allowed to eat in the bar lounge, which is a beautiful ambience....
It has a fireplace and it is joined by the lobby also.
So there is no separation between the lobby and this seating area, which is comfy and cozy at night when the fireplace is going.
We got in late and by the time we finished our dinner, it was 10 o’clock and that is the time the bar closed. No problem, we are not heavy drinkers anyway.
So we took out water and sat over next to the fireplace on the couches. A gentleman named Roland, who evidently works there, shut the lights off at approximately 10:15pm. He came over to the fireplace and was going to turn it off.
We asked him why is he’ shutting the fireplace off? we would just like to sit here and enjoy the nice fireplace. He told me because the bar is closed. We’re not allowed to sit in the same area.. We told him we were weren’t even drinking.
We were almost begging him to stay and could not give us a good enough reason.
He was crazy. He asked us what room number we were staying in. We refused to give that information out. So I asked him what his name was. He told me it was Roland and then he rudely came back and asked me what my name was. I only gave him my first name.
I don’t know why a hotel would close down a seating area up in the mountains where there’s a fireplace to sit at and enjoy! I paid over $300 for the room and paid over $400 for the meal!
We will not patronize this hotel again!

This past weekend (October 17–19, 2025), my husband and I stayed at The Gleen House for the first time and brought our dog with us. We specifically chose this hotel because it is advertised as pet-friendly and “welcoming to animals.” When makin...
g the reservation, we even had to prepay a $40 daily pet fee — which made us believe pets were truly welcome.
However, our experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived on the evening of October 17th around 7:40 p.m., we were greeted by a front desk attendant who was anything but friendly. She had just returned from the restaurant with a plate of food and seemed far more interested in eating than helping guests. Her responses were short, dismissive, and unpleasant.
After checking in, we left our dog in the room to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. About 15 minutes after placing our order, the same receptionist called my husband saying there had been a complaint that our dog was barking and that we “needed to deal with it.” My husband politely explained that we were having dinner, and she rudely replied that she didn’t care what we were doing — that we had to return to the room immediately or she would call the police.
He tried to reason with her, explaining that barking is a natural behavior for dogs and that, in a pet-friendly hotel, some tolerance is expected. She continued to be rude, saying we “should know how to control him,” and abruptly hung up after saying she would call her manager.
This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. She could have spoken to us politely or tried to understand why the dog was barking — instead, she ruined our evening. We had to abandon our dinner and go back to the room.
We don’t know the receptionist’s name, and honestly, we didn’t even want to ask after the way she treated us. Our weekend was completely ruined, and we paid a high nightly rate only to be treated with such disrespect.
We will never return to this hotel, and I truly hope management addresses this behavior so no other guest goes through what we did.

Incredible place, good rooms, great food, great people. Staff does not know what they are doing.
When I arrived to check in, they had already checked a random person into my room because they had a similar first name. This mistake meant that I ...
had to sit around in the lobby for an hour after traveling 14 hours to get there before they could get me into a room. I was not offered anything to make up for this mistake. The staff member that was working to rectify this situation did not know how to adjust my reservation and I had to come back the following morning to have it done.
I had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated at the restaurant because staff was too busy to address me.
When I checked out I requested a printed receipt but the person at the desk could not figure out how to do it and said I would get an emailed receipt by the end of the day. It is now 4 days later and I have not received a receipt. I have called the hotel 3 times since then but nobody answers the phone. The one time I did get through, the woman I spoke to said she would email the receipt soon. I still did not receive it.
Again, this is not a failing of the staff. This is a failing of the management. There is not a sufficient amount of staff, the systems at the hotel do not work very well, and the training level is not where it needs to be.

I booked this hotel for 2 days arriving on January 2nd 2025 departing on January 5th 2025. I made the booking through Expedia where it clearly stated that it was fully refundable up to December 30th. I had a change of plans so I canceled the bo...
oking on December 1st. I get an email from the Glen house saying My refund was going to be processed minus a $30 transaction fee. I was very puzzled and I called them about it and they said that any cancellations no matter how far in advance or automatically charged a $30 fee. After some back and forth they realized that I had booked through Expedia so they couldn't enforce the $30 fee. This was another example of why I canceled my booking with them and decided to go with another property. When you read the reviews, especially some of the one, two and three star reviews, you really get a sense of the lack of value at this hotel. For instance, there is a $20 per room per night resort fee. This fee apparently is for the use of the pool which many have complained is much smaller in person, not very hot, cloudy and poorly maintained water. Apparently they also provide a newspaper even though most people get their information from their cell phone. There has also been complaints about the restaurant and bar in terms of both service, quality of food and the fact that the bar closes early with the restaurant. The three star reviews are very revealing in that they do mention the the hotel is in a good location with mountain views but there are problems either with noise, closures for wedding, and overall disappointment. I'm glad I canceled my reservation and I would caution others to read the reviews carefully for insight before booking. It doesn't seem to be a good value for the high price that they charge.
