Splendid! I could write a book on our 3 day event at the Governor Hill Mansion. We planned our Maine wedding from the west coast, sight unseen, no wedding planner, and not much tho...
ught on the details. Elaine, Taylor, and chef Josh delivered magic on an easy breeze. Speak from my past career as a fine dining professional, let me list a few highlights of the many things that blew me away. Taylor approached our vision with so much enthusiasm and attention to details that we're convinced the entire staff cared more about our wedding than ourselves. Everyone was professional, attentive, unintrusive, and anticipated our needs at every point. The space was intimate, opulent, and spacious. Every architectural element exuded fineness of a historical treasure well loved. Everything was so elegant that additional decorations seemed unnecessary. The food, THE FOOD, ruined everyone's palate for the better. Chef's extensive experience and talent elevated the classic dishes to new heights. From our plated rehearsal dinner, getting ready snacks, lunch, appetizers, dinner buffet, to brunch, it was a surprising 3 days of culinary extravaganza. Dan, the mixology extraordinaire, made the perfect bloody mary! I'm super picky when it comes to bloody mary, and Dan's concoction was simply perfection in a glass. Pictures and words don't do this place justice. The whole clan attended our wedding are eagerly planning on hosting future events at the Govern Hill Mansion! We will see you next time we visit east coast!
I am so glad that my now husband and I chose the Governor Hill Mansion as the location of our wedding. The venue is historic and has so many gorgeous visual elements. But, we were ...
also thrilled to work with their coordinator Elaine Sounier. From my first email she was very helpful and informative, and made sure every detail was taken care of. We were allowed to set up on Friday afternoon and have the rehearsal, which allowed for our Saturday wedding to flow seamlessly. My bridesmaids and I loved getting ready in the Bridal Suite, and the Mansion has so many charming elements. We were also able to clean up on Sunday morning, and did not have to rush to leave the event on Saturday night. The rates are very reasonable, and it was helpful to have all of the catering in one place. I have received lots of good feedback from guests about how good the food was, and we couldn’t be happier that we chose to have our wedding here. Thank you GHM and Elaine!
The venue itself is beautiful, and the staff is great. They were great to communicate with, usually responding in just a few hours if not sooner. The food was wonderful and plentif...
ul. The wait staff the day of were fantastic, being extremely kind and waited on our every need. With the great service and below-average cost, I would highly recommend this venue to any couple who wants an eloquent reception for a decent price.

ur budget. I would host any kind of event here, but it was PERFECT for our wedding reception!
We loved having our reception at the mansion! Elaine, the manager/coordinator of the mansion, was willing to work with us and helped keep things on track. The food, done by the che...
f of the Liberal Cup in Hallowell, ME, was delicious! Especially the beef tips! And the catering staff was obliging, making sure that we had everything that we needed. The mansion itself is beautiful, making a great backdrop for photos.
The only downside was the men's bathroom needing a substantial update, but it still works so it wasn't a big issue.

ere always available for questions and support for the event. All of our guests raved about how beautiful the space was and the menu options were just fabulous! The staff really went the extra mile to make our big day special, we were so lucky to have them. I would definitely recommend this space to anyone looking to plan an event in the Augusta area, you won't find a better deal.
The Governor Hill Mansion was exactly what we were looking for: sophisticated and elegant while still warm and inviting. The front mansion rooms were great for the cocktail hour wi...
th plenty of space for guests to mill about. The banquet hall was a little bit too rustic for my taste, but when decorated it looked lovely. The buffet food was good, though a little dry as is expected of buffet food. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive both during the planning stages and throughout the rehearsal dinner and the reception. Overall, it was a great venue and I am very happy we chose it.
