We had our ceremony and reception at the Governor's Inn and we were so pleased with how everything turned out! We planned our wedding out-of-state which made an already difficult process even harder. But Lisa did an amazing job responding to any questions we had and made us feel at ease. Even when a few last minute worries popped up, Lisa was so helpful in smoothing things out. The food was wonderful and the staff during our reception were very kind and helpful. Thank you so much for helping to make our day so special!
The crew at the Governor's Inn was really top-notch and helped ensure our special day went without a hitch. They have a beautiful gazebo/garden that is perfect for an outdoor ceremony and a tented area that is always available which meant we did not have to worry about alternate plans in the event of rain. The ballroom was spacious and well-appointed.
Lisa, the coordinator, was great throughout the whole process, quickly answering my endless "control freak" questions and helping reassure me that everything would be taken care of by their experienced staff. The food was delicious and the waitstaff that handled our reception could not have been any better. They were thoughtful and attentive, making sure the wedding party had something to snack on during picture time, checking in exactly the right amount of times over the course of the night to ensure things were going the way we wanted them to, and working hard to keep all our guests happy and fed. The GI had another event scheduled before ours, so the staff set everything up for us and, even though I would never have imagined it possible (because I can be a little bit particular about things), they did it exactly the way I wanted - it was such a relief I was almost in tears. At the end of the night, the staff broke everything down and packed it up for us so the only thing we had to do was pick everything up the next day.
The bridal suite was very reasonably priced for the size of the room which was more than big enough to accommodate a bride, several bridesmaids, a couple flower girls, and all of the stuff that goes along with all those people.
The only thing that would have made our special day better was if the air conditioning in the ballroom had been on/turned up as it got pretty hot as the night went on and everyone was dancing.
Definitely recommend!!
Had my bridal shower here...the space was beautiful!! Food was good and so was the sangria. Only complaints were that it was too quiet and they couldnt get the radio to work and it was expensive
The Governor's Inn did an amazing job hosting our wedding on October 12, 2013. There were so many different places to enjoy within the venue that all of our guests had a fabulous time. Some of our guests arrived the night before and got to see a comedy show in the ballroom, which they loved. There was a bar where people gathered pre and post wedding to celebrate, and a restaurant where we all had lunch that day as we got ready. The service was outstanding and everyone there went out of their way to make sure we had a perfect day. The lawn area with the gazebo was beautiful and we were able to decorate how we wanted throughout the venue. The ballroom was great and having the outside area under the tent was perfect. We were able to put our photobooth under the outside area and have another bartender out there, so no one waited for drinks. Everyone could hear the band from outside as well, which was great. The room fit our large number (over 135) of people comfortably for dinner and the band had plenty of room to set up. The cake came with the food package, so that process was great for us, we just had to show up, taste and decide! All of our guests loved the venue! We rented every room for the bridal party and families, so we had the run of the whole place. We opted to have an after party in the bar attached to the lobby, which turned out great; we were an entire wedding watching the Red Sox Playoff game after the reception! The food was outstanding and everyone raved about it! We served the herb stuffed chicken and the prime rib, and both were fantastic. The passed hors d'oeuvres were great also, we had a tough time deciding what to serve! We had eaten there the night before the wedding as well, which was fantastic. The entire staff was wonderful and made the process so stress-free. Lisa was amazing through the whole process, and was able to recommend vendors to me in the area as well, for other services. I would recommend this venue to anyone that loves a quaint and cozy atmosphere, private setting and amazing food. I was able to really focus on having the time of my life instead of worrying about details, and everyone we have seen since said it was the most fun wedding they've been to, since there were so many things to do/places to gather.
We looked at several venues before we found the Governor's Inn. From the moment we stepped on to their lawns we knew we had found the right place. The price was reasonable. The owners, event planner and staff were all laid back, but professional at all times. Although our guest list was only 90, many of our guests were from out of state and spent the entire weekend at the inn. We have heard nothing but good things from all who attended and stayed at the inn. The food was outstanding and the staff went out of their way to do all we asked, and we had some unusal requests (like playing tailgating games in the courtyard)! The inn and grounds make for a perfect backdrop for a wedding, whether you are looking for casual (like ours) or formal. We had our ceremony in the gazebo, the cocktail hour under a tented courtyard and the ballroom was perfect for the reception (with plenty of room for an event larger then ours). Did I mention the food was OUTSTANDING?! We highly recommend the Governor's Inn for any function.
I cannot say enough about the venue and its staff. They were BEYOND accommodating. I was a bride who needed everything in its place and everything ready to go - the Inn took care of everything that I thought of but hadn't yet done myself. They let us go through their haunted house after our rehearsal the night before, delivered us gourmet pizza under their tent for our rehearsal dinner, took care of ALL set up and clean up of that night plus the wedding, opened their pub after hours after our reception for us to get a drink, assigned a staff member to stay with me all day to fix my dress, serve us food while taking pictures, and so much more. They really are a gem. Their food was tremendous and our family and friends said the same. I will forever recommend The Governor's Inn for events. They really took care of the small things that made the big things that much more perfect. Not a thing went wrong. As a bride dreaming about her wedding day since she was 10 - the ability to trust in their staff and gorgeous venue has no words.
