Weddings are emotional and overwhelming, your venue coordinator (Amy) should not add more stress to your day.
Highlights
Major issues with Amy:
•Extremely poor communication – Un...
responsive for days to weeks, even during the paid “month-of” period
•Disorganized – Forgot the groom in a room during ceremony lineup; groomsmen had to stop the procession
•Unprofessional and rude – Rude to MOG, shushed guests with hostility, scolded FOG and MOH
•Neglected responsibilities:
•Did not stock bathrooms with toilet paper
•Forgot to refrigerate champagne
•Mishandled binder with marriage license and ~$2k in tip money left in grass
•Rushed couple’s portraits and caused stress over candles
•Screamed at and made maid of honor cry during binder search
•Had the couple’s alcohol in her office with unknown people drinking it
Here’s the story:
I got married on 9/28/24. Don’t get me wrong — our day was perfect thanks to our loving family & friends. Amy caused stress beyond belief with her behavior, attitude, & lack of organizational skills.
The Grande Victorian is stunning & is perfect place to get married. It was everything we hoped for.
We booked in 12/22. Amy seemed great at first, punctual & professional. She sold herself well, and we were excited to add her as our monthof coordinator. As our wedding approached, her communication dropped. I went days without replies, which delayed other vendors. I hoped it would improve during the month-of. It didn’t. I expressed concerns, and communication briefly got better, then silent.
Wedding day:
Amy briefly said hello but didn’t check in on us much. She was rude to my kind & respectful MIL.
The bathrooms weren’t stocked with toilet paper. We texted Amy (couldn’t find her), & it took forever to get it.
She forgot to chill our champagne, so my maid of honor and I had to do it ourselves.
We chose to do private vows. While I appreciated the effort to keep the area quiet, Amy rudely shushed our party and scolded my FIL.
Then, during ceremony lineup, she separated me and my husband into different rooms. The ceremony began, and my husband was missing, Amy had left him in a room and forgot about him. A groomsman had to stop the procession.
After the ceremony, we got 3 photos in front of the house before Amy rushed us and our photographer to start the reception. I had worked hard to prep taper candles so they’d stay lit. Amy knew this. “If you don’t hurry with your pictures, those candles you worked so hard on are going to blow out.”
The reception was great until I realized around 8:45p that we hadn’t signed our marriage license. I asked Amy where the binder was, the one with our license, tip money, and itinerary. She had no idea. I had intentionally kept those items together so nothing would be lost. Amy had taken the binder from my MOH earlier, then forgot where she left it.
I spent 30 minutes of my reception searching for it.
Eventually, my MOH found
herself in Amy’s office looking for the binder — where unknown people were drinking our alcohol, known due to a bottle of Rain Vodka. When my MOH entered, Amy yelled at her & made her cry. She blamed her for the missing binder.
Amy later found it outside in the grass, where she’d left it during rushing my husband and I’s portraits.
Despite everything, our day was still perfect, thanks entirely to our family and friends.
I don’t want this to discourage you from booking it’s a beautiful venue. I strongly recommend you do not hire Amy as your coordinator.
The Grande Victorian has the word "grande" in its title for a reason! My daughter got married at this venue May 31st, 2025. From start to finish it was seamless! Amy Plyler, the v...
enue's owner, was gracious, professional and on top of EVERYTHING! The venue itself was impeccable and our guests continue to brag on its beauty and splendor. From the bridal suite to the groom's suite, to the ceremony space, cocktail hour and reception area...it's all close in proximity and easy to navigate. There are too many photographic spots to count and it would be any photographer's dream to shoot a wedding here. If having the BEST venue is top priority, make sure The Grande Victorian is on your list of places to visit. You'll be glad you did!
The most gorgeous venue, and the most perfect staff for our wedding day! The venue was so beautiful, there was more than enough room for me, my bridesmaids, my mom, and the mother ...
of the groom. The boys had an amazing cabin on the property to hang out in and get ready. They played poker and watched tv all while the girls were getting ready. It rained on our wedding day and Amy was AMAZING making sure everything was perfect even in the rain. She provided us with umbrellas and make sure the guest book wasn't getting wet outside. The ballroom is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and was fit my vision of my wedding day perfectly. The staff worked endlessly so my family nor I had to do anything on the wedding day to prepare. 10/10 would recommend The Grande Victorian to anyone looking for a classic wedding!
The most beautiful venue, perfect for our day! We have been told by all our guests how stunning the venue was and how it was perfect for my dream wedding. The bridal and grooms sui...
tes had the perfect amount of space for getting ready. We had 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen and it never felt like we were tight on space. There was also the perfect amount of space for our guests during the ceremony and reception (we had 160). One of my favorite things was that the ceremony area is covered, which helped calm my nerves when the weather was calling for rain.
I cannot say enough amazing things about this venue and Amy, the coordinator. Our wedding was absolutely magical and stress free. It was more than we could have ever asked for! The...
venue was drop dead gorgeous and Amy was wonderful to work with! I was a bride who wasn’t the greatest at planning and Amy (along with my mom, of course) absolutely knocked this wedding out of the park! I cannot recommend this venue enough to everyone. If you want a beautiful, sophisticated, classy wedding- this is the way to go! It is truly worth every penny. Your wedding day is one that should be magical and one you want to remember, and there is truly not forgetting it when you chose this venue. Everyone that attended our wedding 2 weeks ago is continuing to say how amazing it was!
Wanted to say again how amazing Amy was also.. I had a horrible dress mishap where my dress would not zip up.. and she sat and safety pinned my dress for me until it was perfect again. Amy and this venue really go above and beyond for their brides and grooms… 1000000/10 for the Grande Victorian! 🫶🏼🥰🥹
Brides and Grooms, be wary, this was probably the worst experience I’ve had with a place yet. I scheduled an appointment almost a week out, and arrived 10 minutes early to my appoi...
ntment, I was not greeted, and waited 20 more minutes for someone to talk to. I ended up searching through the venue to find someone and found Angie, who was amazing and helped me, even though she didn’t work there full time. I did get a tour, but only a quick run through, and when I waited for the coordinator to speak to me privately, she started asking me questions almost like she was just trying to finish my visit so that I’d leave. All while in front of another group, super embarrassed.
After reaching out to Amy, I was greeted through text after voicing my concerns, that I should’ve been more reasonable because they were short staffed and she was behind. She said that Angie was qualified to help me, but I disagree, because Angie herself said that she was not qualified, loved Angie though.
I responded that I would’ve gladly rescheduled my appointment, instead of driving the almost two hours to tour, but that it wasn’t my responsibility to check in and make sure that they’re on schedule.
Truly disappointed. Even spelled my name wrong.
Future brides… be weary when considering this venue! Although it’s beautiful, we had concerns from the beginning when we initially started exploring this venue as an option.

r booking the venue tour over a week out, we received nothing from the venue (pricing packet, etc.) until we were on the way there. Once we arrived, no one was there to greet us and we had to walk around the venue searching for someone to host the tour, which other reviews have mentioned.
After the conclusion of the tour, I was told the date I was interested in was available. Two days later, I contacted the venue and expressed my intention to pursue booking the date. After not hearing back for quite a few days, I called twice and was finally able to get in touch with the event director, who again verbally confirmed my date was available. After getting excited about having a date and moving forward, I received an email that there was a miscommunication and the date was indeed booked by someone else. I understand mistakes happen, but it should not have been confirmed without further review. On their behalf, they did offer a discount on an additional date.
After we finally received the contract for our new date, we felt the need to add addendums to include facility maintenance due to the fact that lightbulbs were out over the ceremony space when we toured (with a wedding taking place in three days). Once we presented the addendums, the entire tone of the event director changed. They became very defensive, rude, and condescending. We toured plenty of venues that would be willing to bend over backwards to make your wedding day the best it can be. Seemed to be the total opposite here.
It felt as though we were viewed as just another number and they wanted to be very hands off. In my opinion, be advised that you may struggle with communication, lack of professionalism and disorganization.
Just an amazing place. Felt the love in every detail! Amy and her staff were spot on with all our needs! Look no further! This is THR place for your special event!

One of the best experiences included collaborating with Amy Plyler. Her attention to detail, follow up, and care for our daughters wedding should be in the front page of the Charlotte Observer.
Dream come true venue and we continue to hear rave reviews from our guests!
