When my husband and I decided to get married, we were extremely overwhelmed and had no idea where to even start with planning such a momentous event. We knew that we wanted the wed...
ding to be intimate (not to many guests), in a setting that was surrounded by trees, and in a location that felt like home. Out of all the wedding venues in Vermont, the Hermitage Inn captured everything we were looking for. A gorgeous space and an attentive staff… making the day feel as effortless as possible.
After a short call with the Events Director, Gina, we knew our big day was in good hands. She not only spent multiple hours on the phone with us, but she also provided amazing visuals for us as we were planning this wedding from out of state. I have never met a more dedicated person who works in a hospitality field. Gina is the definition of “going above and beyond” — even meeting us to tour the space on her day off last minute, so we were able to take the big leap in deciding this was our future wedding venue. She puts her entire heart in listening to her couples, understanding their vision, and bringing their dreams to life.
And now to the part of the magical touches… this space is truly one that people are passionate to work for. Everyone who works in the space takes time to learn who their patrons are, so much so, that my husband and I has several interactions with the owners Mary Lou and Tim of the Inn before the wedding even occurred. The Hermitage Inn is not just a space where they churn guests in and out… the waiters to the bartenders to the check in staff all knew who we were, and did everything in their power to make the day special. On the day of the wedding, Tim personally delivered lunch to the bridal party and grooms party. The day after the wedding, when picking up our decorations to bring home, Tim himself was walking the grounds and taking care of some landscaping on his own in the quiet hours of the morning. It’s moments like that where you realize you are receiving first class service without the impersonal aspect of larger hotel and venues.
On the wedding day itself, everyone was available to help where needed. I was looked in the eye, asked what I needed, and was never made to feel alone or out of sorts. Gina herself took our vision and DIY table settings, flowers, and glassware, and within hours had her entire staff create the space into the vision that we wanted. Lucky for us, we got married in the month of October, so the Hermitage Inn already was decorated with beautiful flowers, pumpkins, and corn stalks to provide additional ambience. The food… my husband and I have eaten at the Inn’s restaurant multiple times, and you are truly in for a treat. The high quality, amazing flavors, are exactly what you are served at your private event as well.
I could go on and on about the amazing experience we had with the Hermitage Inn. So many of my guests stated… “this place is like a postcard.” We could not be more impressed with the attention and care we received with our wedding event. Even with a wedding of 30 guests, we were able to have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception in the gorgeous Birches dining room. We highly recommend this space for a future event or even a weekend away in Southern Vermont. It is now a place where we call ‘home.’ Thank you Tim, Mary Lou, Gina, and the entire staff of the Hermitage Inn for making our day one we will never forget!

ation, she was warm, professional, responsive, and incredibly accommodating. Gina went above and beyond to answer my questions, share thoughtful ideas, and provide beautiful details about what a celebration at the Hermitage could look like.
I have no doubt that any couple lucky enough to work with her will be in the best of hands.
Thank you again for everything — you made a lasting impression, and I’m so appreciative.

s nothing short of magical, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting to say “I do.”
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the picturesque views that surrounded the property. The fall foliage in full bloom painted the landscape with rich reds, oranges, and yellows, creating an unforgettable backdrop for our ceremony. The crisp autumn air and the golden light of an October afternoon made everything feel like a dream come true.
The Hermitage Inn itself is a hidden gem—an elegant, rustic retreat that blends charming alpine décor with luxury. We held our ceremony outside, just steps from the Inn, where the breathtaking mountain views were the perfect frame for our vows. The staff were attentive, professional, and incredibly kind, ensuring everything ran smoothly from the first moment we arrived until the very end of our celebration.
The reception in the Inn’s cozy yet spacious dining room was equally enchanting. The wood beams, warm lighting, and gorgeous floral arrangements created an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely divine—each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, showcasing Vermont’s freshest ingredients. Our guests are raving about the seasonal dishes, especially the artichoke beignets!
What really stood out was the attention to detail. The team at The Hermitage went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of the day was flawless. From coordinating the timeline to recommending the best local vendors, they made the entire planning process feel effortless. They truly made our wedding day a reflection of our personal style and vision.
Whether you're looking for an outdoor ceremony with breathtaking views, an intimate indoor reception with top-notch service, or simply a venue that offers the best of Vermont’s fall charm, The Hermitage Inn is the perfect choice. Our wedding was everything we imagined and more, and we are so grateful to have had our special day there.
Today is our three month wedding anniversary and we are still talking about how perfect our wedding was, with a huge part of that due to The Hermitage Inn. The team at The Hermitag...
e made the entire process easy, calming and fun and made the weekend lovely, memorable and perfect. Gina was with us from moment one and was a constant professional who was warm, non-judgemental and available whenever needed. She made sure the day of went on without a hitch and took care of all the big and small details, making sure we didn’t need to worry about anything. I was very specific about wanting to start hair and make up later in the day and Gina adjusted the schedule and made sure I had my morning to myself. During the weekend Mercer, Jan, Sarah, Katia and so many others, along with Gina, made it the best weekend with all of our guests saying the same thing. From the rehearsal dinner, breakfasts in the morning, bar service and, of course, the big event, it was all excellent, personal and thoughtful.
Location and venue wise The Hermitage was again, perfect. The property and inn are beautiful, luxurious and luscious. It was incredible to have the entire inn to ourselves with our closest family and friends. The carriage house was a perfect home base to not only get ready in but to have drinks at and to have a little welcome event for just those staying at the inn on Thursday night. I have pictures of my parents and aunts and uncles sitting on the porch telling stories which I will cherish forever. The grounds were beautiful for the wedding and even though the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were at the same venue- each part of the weekend felt unique and intentional as the venue offers so many options.
Its been fun to look at the other weddings that have happened since ours on Instagram because not one of them have looked similar. That must be the magic of The Hermitage Inn and Gina, as they truly allow you to bring your own wedding to life.
Can’t wait to come back for a weekend and reminisce. My aunts and parents also fell in love with the venue and are planning a trip up the winter.
We had the absolute best wedding day!
I could not have asked for more from our venue. The staff was amazing and the on-site coordinators, Gina and Mercer, were truly the best to ...
work with! They were incredibly attentive during our two-year long planning process. I always felt like a priority and it was amazing to have people to ask questions, chat through logistics, and have in our court.
Our guests loved the space and having the ability for our wedding party to all stay at the venue was absolutely everything we hoped it would be. The food and aesthetic were PERFECT. It was everything a bride could have ever asked for!!
The location, Inn, tavern and grounds are easy to see and, if anything, get even better all dressed up with your wedding guests there. The food is incredible- from a lunch to a wed...
ding for 200 people. It’s the same incredible consistency. But the standout part of it is the attitudes of everyone there on your wedding weekend. Everyone feels a part of it and genuinely wants it to be an amazing experience.
On top of that, the wedding planner (Gina) misses no details from Vendors to timeline to logistics, day 1 until well after the big day. Could not recommend the whole experience any more- from a small wedding to a larger one.
My husband and I got married at The Hermitage in August 2023. It was a perfect New England mix of weather. Rain all morning until noon, wind and unseasonably cold! We wouldn’t have...
changed a thing. The team at the Inn was fantastic. They turned on heat lamps and had all the pretty fire pits going. It made everything glow and felt so special. Gina, the Inn’s wedding planner, is just so lovely. She’s professional and organized and executed everything we asked and more. We picked this location because it’s beautiful, and had indoor and outdoor wedding space. We wanted to get married in Vermont, but we weren’t looking for rustic. This was a really good fit for us. Overall it’s pricey, and that was a factor that we weighed heavily. Our guests raved about the food and drink, and loved The Hermitage. And we’re still dreaming about the wedding cake, carrot cake to be exact from the Inn’s pastry chef, Maya.
My husband and I couldn't recommend The Hermitage Inn more. The service is unbeatable - not only was the onsite planner we worked with (Gina) caring, professional, quick to respond...
, and a great problem solver, but on the wedding day itself, every employee at the Inn truly cared about your day and making it as smooth and perfect as possible. In our eyes, their professionalism and kindness cannot be beaten, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the service. On top of that, the food was exceptional, and we can't begin to explain how beautiful yet also delicious our cake was.
On top of having our wedding there, we also had our rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar and hired the Hermitage to do the florals for the night. The food was also delicious (this is a sign to pick the chocolate lava cake), the ambiance made for a more intimate dinner with those we loved, and the florals were stunning. Also, our wedding party stayed at the Inn for the entire weekend, and the rooms were immaculate. So, stop your search now and get married here!

The Hermitage Inn is run by a team of passionate professionals.
(Jo Putnam, Event Coordinator, is the absolute best!)
They delivered a first-class experience for our guests, and ...
they were a pleasure to work with from day one, making our vision come to life. Trust that they will deliver a one-of-a-kind Vermont experience: intimate and cozy, elegant and classy, modern and up-scale all while also honoring the location of the mountains. This is a gem of a location, as are the people! The space, the design, the food...it doesn't get better than this!

p to the day, and made sure to have everything in place, and a fire roaring when we got there. Everyone was so warm and accommodating and made us feel right at home. We had dinner on property both nights (we stayed at the Inn), and our friends and family were raving about the food and drinks!
As an event professional myself (who notices all the small details, and knows all the strings they needed to pull behind the scenes), I can't recommend Hermitage Inn enough. Looking forward to returning next year, and the years to come, what a special place!
