About this vendor
Those dreaming of a unique wedding venue in Atlanta, GA, will fall head over heels for The Historic Atlanta Utility Works By Cultured South. Dating back to the 1900s, this one-of-a-kind destination was one of the premier industrial businesses that put East Point, Georgia, on the map. The site served as a manufacturing plant for farm equipment, fertilizer, and mill machinery from 1901 to the 1970s and had a small foundry on site. Recently, the abandoned factory was used in filming the TV shows Ozark and Stranger Things and continues to be popular with the film industry. The site is now being preserved and converted into and farm brewery, taproom, and events space.
The Historic Atlanta Utility Works By Cultured South offers various gorgeous settings to live out your dream wedding experience. As East Point's first brewery and taproom, you'll have your pick of perfectly rustic indoor spaces. The main building, known as the Fermentation Station, spans 27,000 square feet and features plenty of natural light, wooden pillars, and exposed red brick walls. Whether you envision a blend of rustic and classic styles or a distinctive industrial-chic aesthetic, the hall can be transformed how you like. During the warmer months, the Foundry Ruins is an idyllic place to hold an outdoor ceremony or reception. You and your guests will feel utterly transported when dining beneath a spectacular blanket of stars.
The dedicated team at Historic Atlanta Utility Works By Cultured South love to provide couples with plenty of flexibility when curating their dream wedding. During a walkthrough of the venue, they'll help you select the perfect space for your ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception.

If you want a place that is beautiful and unique, but also nearby; allows you certain freedoms (such as hiring a mechanical bull or letting you choose your caterer); a place that comes with someone who is excellent at communication (emphasis on great communication-really important for brides!), then this is the spot and the person you want. The reason I originally went with this spot is because I really wanted a place that allowed me to choose my own caterer. Not many places let you and that meant a great deal to me, since our friends have a catering business and we really wanted to use them. But when I went to view the space, I started to see my wedding unfold. The foundry ruins are beautiful and we even had a backup plan to use the warehouse in case of rain (which is also a really cool and unique space with tons of vintage furniture). Melanie is the reason why this place is so perfect; she's really the jack of all trades. She ran the venue, helped plan the wedding, communicated with the vendors, had the tables/seating chart/table cloths, did set up, break-down, even had parking attendants and signs! At one point, I had mentioned that I was stressed because I waited to long to book a florist and was getting turned down, and she even did my floral arrangements. Not like last minute floral arrangements... they were exactly what I wanted. She is really accommodating: let us hire a mechanical bull (photographers loved that), gave us a platform to input the guest list, view seating plans, budget, etc, let us come to practice our dance on the turf because I was nervous about my heels, let us use the brewery space and warehouse space to take our photos, which... holy cow, turned out so good. The little freedoms I was allowed went a long way. This place is truly not like most event spaces. I really can't say enough about Melanie and this space. All the boxes were checked.
For our wedding we wanted a space that was unique and a reflection of us as a couple. The Foundry Ruins at Atlanta Utility Works was the perfect place! It was the perfect mix of rustic industrial and elegance. The space is laid with Astro-turf so you don't have to worry about mud or sinking heels and the string lights give everything such a cozy glow in the evening.
In addition to the space, we also hired Melanie (the owner) and her staff to help either planning and act as our day-of coordinator. The whole night went off with out a hitch thanks to their hard work and Melanie was my saving grace in the week leading up to the event, helping me make those final few decisions.
Thank you all so much for helping us have such a great wedding.
Melanie was absolutely amazing and the space was spectacular! Even through the construction and renovations happening at the time, it was just about as seamless of a process as possible. Our family and friends were in awe as they rounded the corner and saw the setup and were amazed at how the space was transformed. The train was moving but very slowly and quietly throughout the day and actually added a cool vibe to the space, the kids and the men at our wedding all loved watching it 🤣
All in all, it’s an incredible space and team and I’m so glad we picked Atlanta Utility Works for our wedding! 🖤
