Michabelle Inn was an excellent choice for our wedding venue. We rented all of the B & B rooms for the night of the rehearsal and wedding. It was really convenient having the wedding party on site and the entire property to ourselves. The rooms were all clean and comfortable. The breakfast and fresh coffee were delicious. The bridal room in the reception hall was perfect for all of the girls to get ready. The main inn and grounds made for beautiful wedding photo ops. We had the ceremony on the front lawn. It was a 4:00 ceremony, and the amount of shade was ideal. The reception hall was a score, too! The seating was plentiful and well-laid out. We especially liked the light curtains on the back wall. We had a live band set up in the front corner and still had plenty of room for dancing. The buffet served by the inn was hot, plentiful, and delicious! We opted for the open-bar and were impressed with how quickly the bar tenders worked through the line of guests. Other staff also worked diligently, bussing tables and keeping serving line stocked. While some parts of the property/grounds do need a bit of TLC, I think that for the value, Michabelle Inn is an excellent choice. Most of the other venues we considered were TWICE the cost of Michabelle Inn. Thank you, Michabelle Inn staff, for a wonderful wedding weekend experience.
The venue was absolutely beautiful for our reception. David was always willing to answer questions that I had. There is a room especially for the bride and party to get dressed in with great lighting and space. Everyone kept raving on how great the food was. I would've given 5 stars, but it was a little warm with the amount of people that we had invited. The air was set on 73 and I would've liked it to have been at least on 69. That's the only problem that I had with the venue.
My wedding turned out amazing and Mr. David was so helpful through it all.
Positives: The grounds are beautiful as well as the reception area. Tons of compliments from our guest. The staff if exceptionally friendly, and they were beyond helpful. Champagne glasses were provided for toasting, and our wedding cake was cut and served by the staff.
Negatives: The bride or wedding party will not have a place to get ready the day of the wedding unless you rent out the suites at the bed & breakfast which is an additional cost;however, the bride and groom will get one night free if they rent a room for multiple nights. The food was not very good. Burnt cheese pieces in the pasta sauce, jambalya was mushy, and the bottled beer was hot. Additionally, since it is a bed & breakfast, other guests besides the wedding party may be staying on the grounds so you will not have exclusive use of the plantation house.
I had originally planned to have my wedding in Baton Rouge but the venue was booked up for the entire year. My fiance and I looked everywhere from Baton Rouge to Covington to New Orleans. Something was not right with every venue we looked at. Either the menu was too plain, the cost per head too high, the venue too far or the space too big/small. We finally decided to visit Michabelle. I met the owner, David, and immediately felt at ease about the entire event. He answered all my questions and made me feel like what I wanted was very easily accomplished. I had some special dietary needs that I was afraid they wouldn't be able to accommodate but he assured me it would be no trouble. It's a bed and breakfast so there were other guests at the inn the weekend of our wedding but they did not bother me, my bridesmaids or family at all. I didn't get a chance to eat the food because of the wedding craziness but they made us plates and put it in our refrigerator in the suite we stayed in. I made sure to ask my guest what they thought about the food (because food is my love language =) and everyone said it was great! Honestly, I didn't worry about a single thing the entire night. Everything went fantastic. The staff was great and friendly. They wrapped my cake for me and transferred a few of my things from the room I got ready in to our suite at my request. David checked on me throughout the day as I was getting ready to make sure I was okay, and was available to make those slight changes that happen last minute at any event. I would absolutely recommend this venue!!
Everything was just beautiful! The owners were great to work with and made sure everything was as perfect as it could be on my wedding day!
It is a beautiful plantation style bed and breakfast. Can't complain about much except the food. Was horrible. I am not a food snob either. I can honestly say the best thing to eat was the fruit and cheese. Also when I arrived there to get ready for the wedding there was another bride there taking pictures in her dress. Did not appreciate that at all!
I was supposed to have my outdoor wedding here. However, due to uncontrollable weather, we had to move it indoors. The facility was very accommodating for that, and my wedding turned out very nicely. Note to future brides, don't plan an outdoor wedding, in September, in Louisiana! ;)
Michabelle Inn is an absolutely beautiful location for an outdoor wedding! Everyone kept complimenting my husband and me on how gorgeous everything was - from the scenery to the decorations (which the venue provided). There were a few small issues on the day of the wedding, though. The reception hall was originally decorated with the wrong color chair bows which is a minor detail but something I discussed prior with the coordinator. I was able to get it changed without a problem. Then, they had the wrong cottage room reserved for us even after they called and confirmed the details 2 days before. Finally, after the wedding my husband and I went back to our cottage to change clothes while the reception hall was being cleaned. When we got back to the hall about a half hour later, the staff was about to throw out what was left of my wedding cake which was quite a lot (of cake & money)!! This upset me very much, especially because they knew we had a room on the grounds and we were still seeing off our parents and bridal party! Despite these little issues and the cake (which I think is a huge issue), I would recommend Michabelle. The staff is courteous, the grounds are beautiful, the food is amazing, and all of the decorations and set-up is provided!
This place is great to have your wedding and ceremony in one location. There are also rooms/suites available for your family to stay ($99-$125 a night).
My fiance and I are getting married at Michabelle and we cannot wait. My family rented out all 8 rooms and Michabelle has been more than accommodating to our needs. The venue is beautiful and the architecture really replaces the need for lots of decorations. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married in Louisiana.
I was very sckeptical at first because we had to plan it from out of town and booked the place sight un seen. Our wedding at Michabelle's was magical! The ceremony was outside in front of the house. Candles lined the walkway, between the white chairs, beautiful fountain behind you, and gorgeous antabellum home in front. The reception area was in the pavillion. It was perfect. Plenty of room for dancing, mingling, and enjoying the most wonderful food! Everything was exquisit! The owners were very accomodating, the serving staff very attentive, and the bartender kept the drinks coming. We also spent our wedding night in one of the suits. Very comfortable and romantic!
Everything was great, except the owner's husband/chef mingled at our reception TOO long.
The owners of this historical home and pavilion are amazing to work with. They will work with you to ensure you have the wedding that you want.
