Beautiful building with friendly staff. Lots of parking and easy enough to find. Worked with us on floor plans and planning. They weren't very good at communicating as it took some time to get emails back and found out we had a new coordinator. Day of our wedding we had requested the art gallery to be open but it wasn't. Had to find someone to ask and was told it was damaged. Would have been nice to know ahead of time. We asked for separating doors between the long gallery and Spanish Court to be open but weren't.
Such a wonderful wedding venue! We had our ceremony outside in the gardens under the big oak tree. It was beautiful and the tree is so majestic on its own, not a lot of decor is needed. We did have a rain plan inside though, which is equally as nice if you choose to have it inside. Guests really enjoyed the laid back and comfortable vibe of the venue.
We had our wedding ceremony & reception at the Thomas center, and I'm so glad we did! The venue is beautiful, we had our ceremony by the water fountain and reception inside. We worked with Erica through the whole process and she was super helpful and made it as easy as possible for us. This place makes for some amazing wedding pictures too!
Erica Chapman is a wonderful and amazing person! She's the coordinator for the Thomas Center. Every time I emailed her she got back to me with 24 hours within business days. Location is very cost effective and beautiful. Only thing many may not like is that they don't allow you to use sparklers or throw anything for your send off. Overall, wonderful and amazing experience.
The Thomas Center was the perfect venue! I used the Turtle Court for my reception, and it was lovely. Having a "mocktail" hour on the veranda while we took pictures on the beautiful grounds was just one of Erica's wonderful suggestions. The Spanish Court and Long Gallery served as an excellent reception space. The historic vibe was just perfect for my wedding.
There are simply not enough words to express how amazing and helpful Erica is. With her help our wedding was better than anything we could have ever whipped up without her. It was an absolute blessing that we chose the Thomas Center early on. There isn't a nicer setting in the Gainesville area and it's such great price. Once we were settled on the location Erica helped us find all the best vendors and the people at the Thomas Center made sure our day was perfect in every way!
We chose the Thomas Center as our wedding venue because we had a large guest list and wanted a really nice outdoor wedding. Erica was so easy to work with, answered all my questions and the staff was very helpful during the wedding day. The location was perfect and the price was very reasonable!
The Thomas Center was a beautiful location for our wedding. The staff was very courteous and professional.
We were looking for the perfect place to get married in Gainesville, FL. After much searching, we decided to have our ceremony and reception at the Thomas Center. Even though there would be limitations on how many people we could have at the wedding, the fact that no one had to drive to a different location was ideal. The staff was very nice and welcoming and did everything they could to accommodate us. Erica, the coordinator, was very nice even through my tons of different emails and requests. I loved that we could bring our own liquor and have a bartender and we could also choose any caterer that we wanted.
All in all it was a wonderful day, filled with lots of love and family and friends. Our friends say it was one of the funnest weddings they have ever been to = mission accomplished!
Erica the event coordinator for the Thomas Center is great. We changed our mind on details a bunch of times and she rolled with the punches. We chose the Spanish Court and Long Gallery for our ceremony. We barely had to decorate because it is such a beautiful room. Our friends and family commented on what a beautiful venue we chose.
the setting was gorgeous and just right for our reception of just over 100 people. There was plenty of room to dance and the glass ceiling over the center of the main room made for a beautiful view of the night sky. Erika (coordinator) was great! she was always ready for my random emails and phone calls and answered all of my questions about the big day!
My daughter and her fiance were married three weeks ago at this beautiful facility. We were originally scheduled to be outside by the fountain however the weather did not cooperate and we ended up moving things inside to the Spanish Court. The city employee was so helpful in helping us get things moved and set up after it being completely set-up outside prior to the rain. Erica, their coordinator, was very communicative and a joy to work with. We could not have picked a better location for this special day!
My husband and I were married at the Thomas Center on January 19th. We had our ceremony in the Turtle Court on the balcony. It was very romantic! We took all our pictures on their beautiful grounds-especially by the fountain while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the porches. We had the reception in the Spanish Court which is one of the most breathtaking rooms anyone will ever walk into. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the staff was great!
The Ceremony was held outside in the Turtle Court and the Reception inside in the Spanish Court. We had planned for 90 guests and both of these "spots" were perfect for that number, though could easily accommodate100-110 guests. The Facilities Coordinator (Erica Chatman) is so easy to work with and no details were missed. The onsite Staff was very accommodating, making the whole process "stress-free"! The venue is gorgeous, resulting in beautiful wedding pictures
The Thomas Center is an amazing venue. We got married by the fountain and hod our ceremony inside in the Spanish Court. We received so many compliments on the venue and we were so happy to have our wedding there!
Everything was perfect and beautiful!
The staff of the Thomas Center were very professional and curteous. The Thomas Center is a beautiful location for the ceremony and reception.
The Thomas Center is perfect if you are looking for a smooth transition between ceremony and reception. There are various outdoor spaces that are suitable for the ceremony, but the Spanish Court can also be used and transitioned easily if you prefer inside or in the event of rain. This venue can comfortably hold up to 100 guests. All you have to do is google "Thomas Center Weddings" to get a sense of how beautiful this venue is. I highly recommend it!
I absolutely loved having my wedding at the Thomas Center. We did our ceremony outside, in front of the building, with our backs to the fountain. We were able to capture the beauty of historic building and the gardens without the noise of the fountain. I grew up in Gainesville and it was always my dream to get married at The Thomas Center - so glad that my dream came true.
The Thomas Center is a beautiful, historic building and gardens which was absolutely a dream for our wedding June 2011. It has several locations in their gardens for outdoor wedding ceremonies, a historically decorated period room for preparation photos, and a gorgeous reception area with cast iron skylight which creates such a lovely atmosphere. The staff are accomodating, friendly, and will help with anything and everything during the planning process which makes planning less stressful. We held our ceremony and reception here, which was great because our guests didn't have to drive anywhere! Our wedding day was beautiful and this was the perfect place to hold it!
gorgeous place. Erika (the planner/scheduler) was super sweet and helpful. Got our deposit back to us before we were even home from the honeymoon. the venue didnt do a whole lot, but it was gorgeous which was all i needed :)
The Thomas Center is a gorgeous historic mansion (hotel, actually) with beautiful gardens, porches, and a glass ceiling. It is very light inside and people flowed comfortably from room to room. It has a grand piano. The staff is great.;If you have more than 50 people there is not a large space for dancing. You can still dance though. You can always put people upstairs looking down over the reception but they may feel isolated.
The Thomas Center is a beautiful historic building, spanish colonial style. We wanted to be married outside, so we chose the West Gardens, around the fountain. Thomas Center is nestled in Historic Downtown Gainesville and the gardens offer a multitude of breath-taking backdrops for photographs. In addition, the buildingnow has an art gallery and a more modern feel. The building was perfect for us....classically beautiful with a modern, casual feel; The venue is gorgeous, with sky lights and a warm ambiance. . . . however, because it is a historic site, we couldn't hang anything, have candles or other decorations. The site itself was so pretty we didn't need much in the way of decor, but we did have to get creative with battery-operated candles to provide the right lighting and stay within the building code.
It was so beautiful that we did a minimal amount of decorating. Plus, it had several locations to excellent photos.;Reserve enough time to set up for the wedding because they do not allow you to arrive any earlier than you request.
The ballroom was elegant. The entire room was washed with sunlight from a huge sky light.;They Thomas Center will not let you have a keg of beer inside the center. You have to put it on the porch, and you have to rent the porch additionally.
