This charming barn venue contains a grand wooden dining hall with natural lighting, decorated beautifully with detailed table settings. It has both indoor and outdoor event spaces, including an outdoor patio for ceremonies and a cocktail floor in the Main Barn. The property also includes a groom’s suite in the Main Barn and a separate bridal suite beside it.

    Hello! My name is Brent, and I am the venue manager here at The Historic Wakefield barn! My passion for event planning has led me into the wedding industry and I couldn't love it more. Not only do I get to wear my boots to work, but I get the chance to meet so many amazing couples from all over the state, and the East Coast! Working at the barn could not be more peaceful. I love the rolling hills and historic buildings that I get to call 'my office'.

osphere for both us and our guests. Our wedding planner, Dana Clayton, truly went above and beyond for every single request. Her attention to detail, care, and dedication made the entire process stress-free and enjoyable. The staff was amazing from start to finish — especially Brent, who helped make everything run so smoothly. One of the most special parts of our experience was getting to stay on the grounds in the new suite above the bridal house. It was absolutely beautiful and made the entire weekend feel even more memorable and relaxing. We are so grateful for this venue and team and would highly recommend The Wakefield Historical Barn to any couple looking for an unforgettable wedding experience.

resence of the horses on the grounds — created a setting that felt almost unreal. A huge part of the success of the day is thanks to Brent Shelton. His sense of humor was key throughout the process, especially during many moving parts. He was fully invested in the decision-making from start to finish and incredibly honest, thoughtful, and supportive with every creative choice. Our biggest priorities were that the wedding felt elegant and deeply meaningful, and that our guests experienced the absolute best celebration a wedding could offer. Brent guided us toward trusted vendors he had worked with in the past, and that experience proved invaluable. From weekend and weeknight calls to in-person meetings, vendor coordination, and detailed walkthroughs as the big day approached, he was present every step of the way. He served as a steady, reliable litmus test for what would — and wouldn’t — work, offered smart backup plans when needed, and helped keep everything calm and running smoothly, even under pressure. h away. The venue is naturally stunning and requires very little additional decor to make it beautiful. Every member of the team we interacted with was exceptional. From our first tour to the wine tasting, final walkthrough, and the wedding day itself, the staff consistently made us feel valued and well cared for. They went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran seamlessly. Working with The Historic Wakefield Barn truly felt like working with friends — a comforting and reassuring presence on what could otherwise be a stressful day. We are so grateful to their entire team for helping make our wedding everything we dreamed it would be.

I just got married here in December, 2023, and it was the most incredible day of my life. The staff were professional and helpful, and I was allowed to incorporate all of my custom...
ideas that really made my wedding my own - including a meet and greet with the horse and adding a custom, 8 foot family tree display to the wall. The venue itself was beautiful, clean, and spacious. Even though I had a huge wedding party, the groom and I were never in each others way before the ceremony, and everybody had plenty of space for dancing at the reception. There are dozens of places for photos, including the bridal suite, the outdoor reception area, and the loft. I had over 150 guests and was able to see all of them, yet still have a private few minutes with my husband in the upstairs room before the grand entrance. I would highly recommend this venue for any couple - there's nothing better than a place where you can do your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one gorgeous place.
