Absolutely the best venue for a medium/small wedding. The property is gorgeous. We rented the house and barn for our wedding. The ceremony in the garden area was perfect and the barn was so pretty. We couldn't have had a better location for our guests. The Property Manager Victoria was super to work with. Her recommendations were spot on and her level of detail was spectacular. If you are looking for a unique, special venue for you event or wedding- I highly recommend the Holliston Historical Society!
Bill and Stewart were incredibly helpful before and after our wedding. The site was GORGEOUS and well-maintained. Only issue is that a few of the tables were wobbly and since we have to do all the set up and break down, those tables were a little troublesome.
Holliston Historical Society (HHS) helped make our dream wedding come to fruition! The location is a short ride from Boston, is full of lush green grass, flowers, and trees. We wanted a reasonably priced location with a barn, spot for an outdoor ceremony, with a rustic feel. HHS delivered that and so much more! Bill and Stewart, the caretakers at HHS, are friendly, knowledgeable, and walked-us through the details of our ceremony, reception, and possible decorations.
The barn was cool for our early July wedding evening into night, and having a tent in-front of it blended into the aesthetic of our wonderful wedding day.
Quite a few of our venders had worked the space before so it allowed for a smooth flow from pre-ceremony to our send off!
Absolutely beautiful venue for our small wedding (around 70 people). Rustic charm and at an amazing price! The grounds are beautiful and were perfect for pictures! Also wonderful to be able to rent the entire property for the day (including the first floor of the historic house next door to the barn for getting ready prior to the ceremony/reception).
I spent a lot of time looking for a venue that had the vibe I was looking for while also being in our budget. I kept coming back to HHS and am so glad we ultimately chose them! Our wedding was exactly how we imagined it thanks in no small part to the venue. If you're looking for a beautiful garden for your ceremony and an awesome rustic barn for your reception look no further! Our guests couldn't stop raving about how lovely everything was and my husband and I were able to have everything we wanted without the restriction of having to chose a certain caterer, etc. Bill and Stewart were a pleasure to work with throughout the process and helped to make sure everything would be ready for our wedding day. Can't recommend the Holliston Historical Society enough!
When we first walked into the barn, we were in love with it. We toured it during a snowy winter, so you could not see how beautiful the grounds were, but we knew just by walking on the property and by how Stuart and Bill had described it to us, that it would be incredible in full bloom. We went back in the summer just to see it in bloom and were in awe of it's beauty. They were so kind as to leave the barn open for us so we could go in again and just see it and think about how we wanted to set it up. The day of our wedding we had booked the first floor of the house to get ready in and have the extra bathrooms, but when we walked into the barn it was even more beautiful! There were lights strung around the beams but they added extra lights on the posts as well, when everyone walked in there was collective ooh-ing and aaah-ing. It was breathtaking. The grounds really need no decorations (although my mother in law is a florist so it happened anyway!) The barn itself was so easy to decorate. The barn becomes the focal point. I added extra antiques and touches that I had purchased for it like a wagon wheel that we strung lights around, some crates we decorated, milk jugs, a spool, and the table centerpieces. We fit about 75 people in there very comfortably, a large buffet table, dj, bartender, and photobooth, and still had room for a dancefloor! The house was large enough for all of us to get ready in, although it was a little tough to do my make up, so bring a lighted make up mirror if you can. The kitchen is a full service working kitchen, you have two large ovens, multiple burners, several fridges and a large freezer. There was room for all of us to cook (bring all of your own stuff if you are cooking and leave ample cleaning time) We prepared most of the food at home and brought it to warm there and used as much disposable items as we could, be aware you take your trash, so you need a place to dump it. The town has a noise ordinance so no music after 10pm..however.. Right down the street is the Holiday Inn, and if you book a block of rooms, you can get the shuttle service and book the granite room to have an after party with all of your guests! Bring all of your leftover food and alcohol..it is allowed. We had the most perfect wedding at the HHS and OMG...the pictures!!!!
This place was so good to us. They have the tables and chairs already (if you have 50 guests you don't need to rent anything!), there's a caterer's kitchen and bathrooms built on, and there's a gorgeous house on site you can use as staging/ready rooms! The location really made the day. We got married in the little garden, and then had our reception in their beautiful historic barn. The lights are already strung up and it's a nice, solid concrete floor. Check them out. We and our guests loved it!
Our wedding venue was above and beyond what we expected... the ground were beautiful, and the caretakers were friendly and great to deal with.
For our wedding we rented out the entire property at the Holliston Historical Society. We had our ceremony in the beautiful garden, and our reception in the barn. My bridesmaids and I got ready in the house. Bill and Stewart keep the entire property looking immaculate. We had access to the property all day and they only book one event a day. They also have beautiful wooden folding chairs, and tables that are included in the rental fee. Our guests all commented on how gorgeous and full the garden was, they loved the historic house, and the entire property. Thank you so much Bill and Stewart, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to celebrate our love.
Absolutely perfect for what we wanted! Our ceremony was in their garden with their fountain going and with the nice wood chairs provided. Our cocktail hour was in the rustic barn and then we paid a seperate company to put up a tent outside the barn for the reception. My one and only complaint was there is no AC and we got married on a 95 degree day! The price is right though and they work hard to keep the landscapie looking great!
