The Hook Club - Strings

Run, don’t walk to work with The Hook Club! We had a very specific vision for the type of music we wanted played during our ceremony and cocktail hour at our wedding this past August (2023). We spoke to many vendors, and no one got it quite like The Hook Club (THC) did. Dan, Adam and the team MORE than delivered. Our only regret is that we did not get professional video coverage to be able to relive the moments! As we were planning our wedding, we were on a quest to find a NYC-based string trio that could play modern music in an elegant fashion. Our goal was to find a group that could perform the type and quality of music heard on West World, Bridgerton, or from the Vitamin String Quartet. The Hook Club was just what we were looking for. The second we spoke to Dan, we knew we found our perfect match. I also wanted a specific/bespoke song for me to walk down the aisle to. THC took what was in my head and made it a reality. I still get goosebumps when I think about it! THC took the time to understand our needs and delivered far beyond our expectations. They are true professionals who were one of the most talented, pleasant, responsive, communicative and accommodating vendors we got the privilege to work with. We cannot recommend them enough and are already clamoring for an opportunity to work with them again.

My husband and I got married in Brooklyn, New York in Fall 2023. We quickly identified The Hook Club as our top choice because of their affordable prices and extremely customizable packages. Despite not having the largest budget, Dan and Adam worked to create exactly what we needed. We had two different sets of instruments throughout the evening. For our ceremony, we had a violin, cello, and piano. The band then switched to a saxophone, bass, and piano for our cocktail hour and reception. We honestly couldn't be happier with our choice. There were so many different songs to choose from, and the band are even willing to learn a song or two if you have a favorite that's not on the list! Communication was always so friendly and professional. We cannot recommend them enough!

The Hook Club was absolutely incredible! We wanted a combo band + DJ and they nailed it. Everyone on the dance floor had a great time (it was literally shaking) and the photos were excellent. The band members were all highly skilled and professional, and were a pleasure to work with. Adam, the bandleader, was very responsive to our requests and made sure that we had a great time. Dan and he were both terrific during the planning process, always responded to our emails, and we especially loved the color-coded Excel. We would highly recommend The Hook Club to anyone looking for a great wedding band. They are talented, professional, and bring that Brooklyn energy! You won’t regret it.

Dan was a wonderful person to work with when planning and executing our dream wedding plan. He was collaborative and curious and brought lots of ideas - and songs! to the table. He met with us on several occasions during busy schedules and was a calm, prepared and informative influence on our chaotic journey to getting every final thing together for our big day. One thing Dan was so open to which we will forever treasure was a collaboration with my brother to play the recessional on the day. We wanted a very specific song - John Denver’s Annie and without hesitation Dan made work, even talking my brother through his thoughts on the work as well as suggesting they play together during the cocktail hour too. It made the whole day so very precious to us and we’ll be forever grateful to Dan, his beautiful playing skills and his wonderful and organized manner. Thanks to Dan and The Hook Club!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Hook Club's string quartet, who we hired for our cocktail hour. I loved that they played pop songs instead of classical music, because the guests recognized the tunes. They also had to play in a challenging setting (outside on the water) and still sounded excellent. Their playing was elegant, skilled and fun! I would recommend this group to anyone!

Absolutely fantastic. We had several pieces outside the traditional canon, including custom arrangements, and they nailed each one beautifully. Truly helped us ensure there wasn’t a dry eye at our wedding!

THC's Strings group played our ceremony and it was perfect. The timing of everything was perfect and they were able to play our requested songs. 100% recommend.

The Hook Club were just the best! My wife and I thought a quartet would be a fun addition to our intimate ceremony, and I am SO glad that we ended up finding The Hook Club. We were a little worried an all string quartet would be a little too formal for what we were looking for, but The Hook Club had options for a bunch of different instrument quartets to our preference. Dan and Adam were great at helping us plan the songs we want and even taking a couple requests. They're AMAZING musicians as well, and we were so happy to have them play for us and our guests. I definitely recommend everyone to give them a shout, couldn't have had a better team of musicians at our ceremony!

If you have the opportunity to book these guys, do it now!! They were a highlight of the wedding. I can't say enough about Dan's professionalism and how thoughtful he is when he comes to his clients. Dan and Adam were so personable, accommodating, and friendly, during the planning process as well as the day of the wedding. They helped us plan out which songs we wanted and made sure we were happy with the set list. We had a lot of things go wrong at our wedding-- including a traffic jam that caused major delays prior to the ceremony. Dan and Adam took it in stride and played music off the cuff while waiting for guests to arrive-- way longer than expected! So not only are they terrific musicians, they took all the chaos of the wedding day in stride. They also worked with us and our budget, knowing we really wanted live music for our horah but could not afford the full band to do so. They came up with the creative solution to play with two musicians accompanying recorded music and it was another highlight of the wedding. It's so important to get the music right on your wedding day, and I'm so grateful I got it right with this vendor. I really can't say enough about the Hook Club -- book them for your wedding -- it's a no-brainer!

10/10! I first booked The Hook Club for my wedding as I was impressed with Dan. He is mega organized and responded attentively and never critical to my crazy requests at times LOL. He made us feel like we were the only client with the amount of detail and follow ups he provided. I opted for classical musicians for ceremony and Hybrid Band for reception and was given the best team ever. I tear up watching videos of Adam and Jesse playing Forever Young while my bridesmaids walked down the aisle at the ceremony every single time! And L'Marco, our charismatic singer/MC even went around to greet my guests throughout the night and made sure they were comfortable and enjoying themselves. They are not only incredibly talented, but they make the planning process seamless, and they're available each step of the way to help. We cannot imagine our wedding without them and we can't thank them enough for making our ceremony so beyond special.

We hired the Hook Club and added their string quartet for our procession, recession, and cocktail hour. They sounded great and loved their arrangements and renditions of All You Need is Love, Lovely Day, and Can't Help Falling in Love. Would definitely hire them.

If you want a fun, energetic, and talented band at your wedding, you must have The Hook Club. The ceremony was intimate and the violin + guitar combo was a perfect compliment to it. The dance floor was packed the entire night and played all of our favorite songs. They added so many personal touches to the night and made the evening special. As a couple who loves music and dancing, we literally couldn’t have asked for a better band to play at our wedding. Our guests have not stopped raving about how incredible they are. We cannot recommend them enough. HIRE THEM! You won’t be disappointed, I promise you that.

The Best Bespoke Quartet!! The Hook Club was one of the best decisions we made for our little wedding! Dan and Adam were super responsive and attentive to our questions and requests. The planning process was a breeze, they had an organized questionnaire to collect all the songs we like. The song list provided was already extensive, and they were willing and happy to practice additional songs catered to our requests. Our bespoke quartet compose of a cello, violin, keyboard, guitar, and even a saxophone! All four members of our quartet were amazingly talented and a pleasure to have at our event, all our guests loved them! The music really set the mood for our celebration, and they even helped made announcements to according to our planned schedule. We couldn’t recommend The Hook Club enough, especially Dan and Adam who helped us throughout the whole process! Our day was made extra special because of them and that’s something we will treasure for a long time! Thank you team!!

We were lucky enough to have The Hook Club as our dj and band at our wedding. Dan and the team were so easy to work with and took the time to get to know us and throw an amazing show on our big day. We’re 2 brides and it was important for us to find a diverse and queer band. There were no other bands that even came close. They’re such talented musicians and downright awesome people. We’ve even become friends with several members of the band after we started working with them. We had envisioned classical strings during our ceremony, a jazzy upbeat vibe during cocktail hour, and a bumping dance party during the reception. The Hook Club was able make that all come true with their amazing cast of skilled musicians. They even helped logistically during the reception in terms of advising us to break up toasts so that there aren’t too many all at once. So many people came up to us to tell us how rad the band was. If you’re on their page, look no further. This is your band.

We hired the Hook Club String Quartet for the ceremony for my daughter's wedding on March 27, 2022 and they are excellent. I highly recommend them. They have a beautiful sound and are lovely people. I would give them 10 stars, if I could. They added so much to the processional and recessional, as well as the cocktail hour. Dan is great to work with and is very responsive and detail oriented. They are the best!!

If we could give more than 5 stars, we certainly would! We hired The Hook Club to play as a trio (violin, cello, keyboard) for our intimate wedding (~40 people). Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. We corresponded with Dan, who is extremely professional, along with being a talented musician. All aspects of working with Dan -- from planning to day-of entertainment -- was fantastic. We had comments from many of our guests, expressing how much they enjoyed the music throughout the course of the evening. We cannot recommend The Hook Club enough!

The Hook Club was easily the easiest vendor I dealt with the entire time I was wedding planning! They were perfect, and even took time to learn a couple of songs I requested that weren't on their existing list. I would hire them a thousand times again!

We were very pleased with The Hook club! We wanted classical live music for the ceremony, trendy playlist for cocktail hours and DJ for the reception. It was one stop shop for all! Dan was great and our guests had a blast!

The Hook Club was both absolutely amazing to work with. Dan was extremely responsive and patient, made sure we understood the entire process, and made it as easy as possible for us. The Hook Club strings were amazing for our pre-ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour – they created a perfect atmosphere and experience leading into the reception. Dan and the entire team were phenomenal to work with. Every thing we asked for, they delivered on, down to the confetti cannons. Don't overthink it- this team is amazingly professional, highly skilled and really, really fun!!! You won't regret booking them! We had a ceremony piano which was gorgeous on the beach and a string quartet that performed from the upstairs balcony during the cocktail hour - both of which incorporated our specific requests and more general stylistic requests (e.g., more modern songs that you might not expect to hear a string quartet play). The Hook Club really brought the party for our reception and after party- we had an incredible band with amazing stage presence and the after party DJ was great about taking our in-the-moment requests which made for an amazing night. I personally missed the confetti earlier on and Dan was kind enough to do a little more for me even as we approached the end of the night. Again- can't say enough good things. If you book them please invite me to your wedding so I can enjoy it all again!!!

THC played our ceremony and could not have done a better job. Dan joined us on a planning visit at the venue months before the big day and coordinated everything perfectly. The group nailed the songs we chose for the procession and recession. We are so grateful to them for making the ceremony so memorable and easy. Could not recommend more!

As a planner, I truly cannot put into words how pleasant our experience with the Hook Club DJ/Band truly was. Their communication clear and kind, their team was prompt, they were so incredibly easy to work with on the day-of, and they kept the dance party rolling all night long! When it comes to securing a vendor for your wedding day entertainment it can stressful and scary especially never having witnessed the group in person before. Stop what you are doing right now and book this group. They are worth every penny and you will not be disappointed. We would recommend them to any of our future clients!! We can't wait for our next event with THC!

Wow wow, the best experience we could've asked for. First off The Hook Club was absolutely awesome to communicate with and coordinate with. They were super responsive and professional but at the same time so laid back, we trusted them completely with their vision. They were great through the pandemic and made sure we all were on the same page. The musicians are so talented, we had live music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, right before my ceremony started they played a beautiful song I had requested. The cocktail hour was beautiful, the music was at a perfect volume where we all could hear and enjoy them but people could carry on in conversation. The reception was off the charts, everyone wouldn't stop talking about how awesome they were with the music choices. Ash the DJ was absolutely on point, read the room and the talented live musicians integrated with the DJ was perfect, we had never seen anything like it but it was better than we even imagined. Big thanks to Dan who checked in all the time and even followed up after the big day. This group was one of a kind, thank you all so much.

We had Dan and Adam from the Hook Club playing our small outdoor ceremony, and while we only needed musicians for a short time overall, they were phenomenal! We couldn't have asked for more. Not only was their performance spectacular, they were prepared, professional, and incredibly accessible and easy to work with. They really did everything they could to enhance our wedding. We can't recommend them enough.

We're so glad that we hired The Hook Club for our wedding. Dan was super responsive, professional, friendly, and really understood what we were looking for for our ceremony. Joe did a wonderful job playing acoustic guitar - our guests loved the music! On top of all that, Dan even helped make sure that our Zoom ceremony went off without a hitch. Having a violinist at our ceremony was so special! We chose to do a duo along with the piano to play as our guests were arriving and throughout the ceremony, which really elevated the overall experience. They were able to play a mix of classical and some more recent songs which was super fun. The Hook Club was great to work with and even accommodated a few special song requests. It was perfect!

Where to begin--the Hook Club was perfect. We used the Hook Club for both strings and a wedding band and are SO happy with how it turned out. Our guests were raving about them from start to finish. Their performances were a highlight of our night and something we'll remember forever. On the strings in particular, the result was amazing and helped make our ceremony as beautiful as could be. We asked them to play Holocene by Bon Iver and they learned the song and accommodated the request. Will absolutely recommend them to anyone!
