One reason we really liked The Hotel is that each part of the wedding [ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception] was in a different part of the venue, so our guests got a change of scenery. The ballroom for the reception had fantastic views of the UMD campus.

o the food and most importantly, the customer service was excellent and top tier. During our wedding and immediately after, I asked my wife about the day. She expressed pure joy and specifically mentioned Kelsey Lepore's leadership and customer service. As an example, as my wife was about to enter the room for her grand entrance, she realized that she was missing her bridal bouquet. Kelsey immediately ran up stairs, found the bouquet and gave it to my wife in time for her entrance. This really speaks to Kelsey’s work ethic and customer service during the entire planning process. It was responsive and exceeded expectations. We could not have chosen a better venue and event's manager. pointed lobby bar, and luxury hotel accommodations. Our wedding was held on November 11, 2022. We hosted our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at the hotel. The hotel is beautiful. However, it was the warm and friendly greeting we received during our initial site tour from Kelsey Lepore, the catering sales manager that sealed the deal for us. At the end of our tour, she even presented us with a handwritten personalized thank you card. Every time we spoke or met in person, she was professional, so attentive to all of our needs, and made our wedding planning process so smooth. Kelsey made us feel like family, always responded to our emails/calls within a timely manner, and made sure our wedding day went off without a hitch. Initially, we wanted to have our wedding on the penthouse level terrace. However, there was an 80% chance of rain for our big day. As predicted, it rained all day on the day of our wedding. Kelsey had a rain plan in place and helped us envision a beautiful wedding ceremony indoors and gorgeous reception on the Penthouse level. Kelsey's attention to detail is unmatched. She made sure everything was perfect for our reception even down to the table linen. Kelsey also assisted us with booking the presidential suite for my husband and I. Which has outstanding views of the University of MD campus. It was a great suite to get ready in with my  bridesmaids, entertain guests, and end our night as newlyweds. At the end of the night, we came back to the presidential suite where Kelsey left us a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a handwritten card with well wishes. She is truly an asset to The Hotel at the University of Maryland. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue with delicious food, outstanding staff and an amazing catering manager look no further. Our guests could not stop talking about  our wedding. They said that it was one of the best weddings they had attended in a long time and that the food, signature cocktails, and service at the reception were amazing. Special thanks out to Marcus, Ezi, and Micheal at the front desk. They were so friendly, very helpful, and made sure all of our guests received the welcome bags we created. ly in an area I did not know much about (I have no ties to University of Maryland or College Park). Décor, flowers, fancy invitations, food, etc… it’s just not my thing. But I still can be picky with others making decisions. Kelsey, the event coordinator, made everything so incredibly easy. She was able to paint a picture of a beautiful weekend, with amazing food, fun, and love. And it was just that… We got married June 11 and had our guests spend the weekend (Friday – Sunday). We did the entire wedding at the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted so pleasantly. We did welcome bags and the hotel made sure every single guest received one even though we told them it wasn’t a big deal. They went completely above and beyond from start to finish of the weekend Friday night was a rehearsal dinner of about 35 people followed by Welcome Drinks for everyone invited to the wedding at the hotel bar (ended up being about 120 people). We did a charcuterie board and a 3 hour open bar for all. It was incredibly reasonably priced, and there was not one issue! We didn’t plan much décor, but the hotel made the bar area look GORGEOUS. What a way to kick off a weekend of fun! Saturday was a dream. We woke up and my 8 bridesmaids and I headed to the spa to get ready. The spa staff made everything so fun. Shanna, Kendra, and their team are incredible!!! Not to mention the pictures in the BEAUTIFUL spa turned out perfectly. We were scheduled for 70% rain the day of the wedding. It rained and rained and rained all morning. Checking the radar, it looked like the rain would stop in the afternoon. The hotel staff was incredibly flexible and kind. They knew how badly we wanted to make outside work (although the inside setup they had was beautiful as well). For the first time ever, the weather forecast was right! It stopped raining and we were able to do the wedding outside. And O-M-G was it beautiful. I will never forget turning the corner and walking down the aisle with 165 of our closest friends watching. Everything from the chair set up to the views were perfect. There was so much incredible energy on that rooftop, and we owe most of that to the hotel staff & planners. The staff was so gracious, attentive, and genuinely happy to be there. They didn’t make it feel like they were there for a shift (like you may feel at some restaurants). They truly wanted everything to go right for complete strangers. It was incredible. From the amazing cocktail hour with live music to the dinner and dancing, the night was perfect. The staff did not have to, but they always had eyes on my husband and I to ensure we were happy. And we were SO happy!! Every guest that left the hotel left with such a great experience. Many comments we heard from our guests were “food was incredible,” “bar & drinks were the best they had ever had at a wedding,” and “they loved staying for the weekend without ever having to drive.” We also heard how wonderful the rooms, staff, and location were. A huge thank you to the Hotel at the University of Maryland for the best weekend of our lives! We can never repay the staff for their selflessness and graciousness. Do yourself a favor… get married here ASAP!

like a bride and I felt like Cedric took all of the worrying off of me. I felt like we had the "dream team" from the catering staff to the bartenders - just simply awesome! You can tell that Cedric knows the business, even when I was stressed like towards the last week of the wedding he reassured me that everything is going to be just fine and that I would have an amazing wedding and it was just that. When my husband and I did our first look at the room, which we had the Crossland Ballroom, but any of the ballrooms are really nice. At any note, when we did our first look and went into the ballroom, we were speechless! Two words, elegant and romantic... Cedric also referred an amazing florist... My husband and I are still receiving phone calls, and texts telling us how the food was really good and not only that but the catering staff did everything in harmony and with smiles, just so professional. They treated my husband and I like royalty and our guest, they ensured that we had everything that we needed... All I can say is that you cannot go wrong with this hotel, as I said they have the gem "Cedric". I do not normally write reviews, but I felt I had to give credit were credit was due. Cedric Frazier was in charge of our event and we could not have been in better hands. He was patient and generous and has an incredible background in the hospitality/catering field. He was thoughtful and respectful about our needs while also contributing his creativity throughout the process. The staff throughout the hotel was pleasant and everyone was helpful. Having hosted numerous events this size, my daughter's wedding 2 years ago being the most recent, I can honestly say that the pricing is fair and the food was excellent. Our guests were quite complimentary about the event and their stay. Do not overlook this venue and definitely seek Cedric out. You will not be sorry.

night. When we first booked our wedding we were working with Sheila. After about a year Sheila left The Hotel and we were paired with Cedric. We were so happy that Cedric inherited our wedding! He had all of our prior communication with Sheila and ensured anything we agreed on before was seen through. I'm also very Type A and pay a lot of attention to details and Cedric was very patient with all my questions/inquiries. Cedric made sure to keep in touch with us throughout the whole process and even gave us his cell phone number for the whole wedding weekend in case we had any questions! He was quick and responsive, which is something any couple needs for the venue coordinator. He is also calm/relaxed instead of a very high strung wedding planner. It is a nice change of pace. You could tell Cedric cared about making sure we were happy. At the food tasting, he surprised us with appetizers to taste because I couldn't figure out how we can serve appetizers if we didn't taste them. Also, we booked the governor's suite Friday night so the girls could get ready Saturday, and he gave us a complimentary additional night in the suite. This was AMAZING because we did not have to worry about being displaced or moving our items from hotel room to hotel room. Obviously the venue is gorgeous and if you are a UMD alum this is the perfect venue, but working with Cedric is the cherry on top. Thank you Cedric!!

Some places just want to take your money and as long as that happens, they don't really care how it turns out. But Cedric really cared and owned it. All the other staff we came in contact were also very friendly, and looked out for us to make this event special. The chef was also very accommodating and worked with us to make certain requests happen. This venue has many ballrooms so it can pretty much fit any size wedding. They also have a very nice penthouse with a terrace overlooking College Park campus. This is where we had our ceremony. So depending on the size of your wedding, there are many options. I also liked the fact that many of the areas where a wedding could happen, it's more secluded from the guests of the hotel, so you can have that private feeling. I would highly recommend this place to anyone thinking about wedding, events, etc.
