g to the extraordinary food and the care of the owner, Melissa, it was everything we could have hoped for. The beautiful old stone house overlooks the Hudson River, with a gorgeous 4,000-square-foot deck and colorful fall foliage all around. We were fortunate to have a warm, sunny October day, so the ceremony took place outside with the river and autumn trees as the backdrop. Watching my daughter get married in that setting is something I will never forget. The banquet room where we held the reception was equally beautiful—spacious, wonderfully lit, and decorated so perfectly for the wedding. The food deserves a review all its own! For cocktail hour, gorgeous displays were set up throughout several rooms on the main floor and in the bar area, and our guests enjoyed sitting both inside and outside. It was honestly the most delicious food I have ever had at a wedding, and our guests could not stop raving about it. Ellen’s signature cocktail was a cosmopolitan—a perfect choice for my “Sex and the City” girl—and it was a huge hit. We chose an upgraded sit-down dinner with four entrée choices, and the salmon and short ribs were absolutely outstanding. Every plate was beautifully presented, the portions were generous, and the accompanying sides were just as delicious. Even after all that wonderful food, the wedding cake and the additional flourless chocolate cake were unforgettable. Having the entire property to ourselves made the celebration feel so personal and special. And Melissa brought everything together beautifully. She orchestrated the whole event seamlessly, with everything timed perfectly, allowing us to enjoy this incredibly important day. Our guests told us over and over that it was the best wedding food they had ever had and one of the best weddings they had ever attended. I know my friends, and they would not say that unless they meant it. As the mother of the bride, there are no words to fully express what it means to see your daughter have such a beautiful wedding day. Melissa and Hudson House Distillery helped give Ellen and Anthony memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives, and I will always be grateful. If you are considering a Hudson Valley wedding, especially during fall foliage season, I cannot recommend this extraordinary place highly enough.

Even though we don’t live in New York anymore, she was able to give us constant reassurance that everything was going to plan, and helped us with vendors, making sure they were the right fit for our vision. Regarding the venue, the Hudson House offers so much beauty, inside and out, which left our guests amazed to see it in person. Despite our wedding happening in November, the cold weather did not stop us from enjoying the beautiful view both the house and the river provided. One of our favorite parts of the entire process was finally making it to the big day, and my husband and I did not feel stressed about things not going to plan. Melissa runs a tight ship and did everything in her power to make sure that any issues were resolved by her and didn’t let us worry about anything. A memorable moment from the wedding was definitely just before I walked down the aisle. I had the chance to secretly record a message for my husband and our guests to hear. His reaction was priceless and made that moment so special. A big plus was allowing us to have our sweet pup Charlie a part of our day as well, accompanying our ring bearer down the aisle. The staff at the Hudson House did a remarkable job making sure our guests were helped at every moment, especially the bartenders! We are so grateful to have worked with the wonderful people at the Hudson House, and could not have asked for our special day to go any other way. A huge thank you to Melissa and her staff for all the great work they did.
