I would highly recommend The Icing on The Cake for anyone looking for wedding cake! My only complaint is we had none left at the end of the night and wanted to enjoy some the next day! BUT that is a testament to how good this cake was!!! Paula got our vision immediately and the cake was phenomenal

I would highly recommend The Icing on the Cake to anyone looking for a wedding cake in the Boston area! First of all, cake tasting at the bakery in Newton with Paula was definitely one of the most fun moments of wedding planning. We felt like we were in good hands with Paula and she helped us come up with a design that was perfect for us (even included an outline of the Boston skyline on the top tier!) and matched the icing flowers on the cake to the colors of our florals. The cake was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite memories from the wedding reception. We found the bakery through our hotel and I'm so glad we did! I'd definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a gorgeous cake that also tastes amazing!

THERE WAS NO CAKE LEFT! That's how you know everyone loved it. People were absolutely raving about the cake during the wedding. Working with Patti at the bakery was wonderful, she was very helpful in helping us figure out what we wanted, and her assistant gave us the amazing idea to use metal flowers for our industrial-style wedding. They were by far the easiest vendor we worked with, and I never needed to worry about the cake. If I ever need another event cake, they will definitely be were I go. Did I mention that they are affordable?

This was such an easy part of the process for us. We had one meeting where we tasted all the various combinations and set our preferences for how things would look. We interacted via email and phone a few times, and they took care of everything else. Everyone at the wedding loved our cake, and we can't wait to eat our top layer a year from now!

Our stylish and delicious cake was a big hit, even for people who don’t usually eat wedding cake! Our experience at Icing on the Cake was extremely simple. Paula has been in the industry for decades and her experience was made clear by the clarity she provided in the course of our decision process. At our tasting, we sampled a wide variety of flavors and reviewed hundreds of photos of past cakes seeking inspiration. We elected for a three-tier cake with a different flavor for each tier, complete with a fondant outline of the Boston skyline. Very happy with the results, and walked away with beautiful photos!

Working with IOTC was super easy, and they were very responsive to our inquiry. The tasting (even in COVID) was fun and the cakes tasted amazing! They had several example cakes depending on what you want and we were stunned at the cake she drew for us, but then on wedding day it was even better. Would recommend them to anyone getting in the greater Boston area! We had so many people compliment the cake staff at how great it was!

FANTASTIC CAKE!!! Paula, the owner, was so helpful in making decisions on how much to get, style, size, etc. (I'm a terrible decision maker. My fiance doesn't like desserts at all and he LOVED the cake. We chose 3 different flavors and then did a backup sheet cake for a 4th flavor. Everyone who tried it said it was the best cake they've had. We will never go anywhere else for a custom cake!

Starting with our tasting, Paula was great to work with. We were able to have multiple flavors, which were all delicious, and we loved the simple design of our cake. She listened to what we were looking for, gave great advise and steered us towards a great decision without any pressure one way or another. We would definitely recommend the Icing on the Cake!

We love Paula and The Icing on the Cake! I got my Bat Mitzvah cake from TIOTC back in 2005 and I knew when I got married I wanted my Wedding Cake from there too. From the moment we walked into our tasting back in Feb 2020, Paula has been a dream to work with. Our cake was gorgeous and DELICIOUS. Paula at Icing on the Cake was the easiest vendor to work with! Not only was our cake gorgeous, it also tasted amazing. We met with Paula less than 2 weeks before our wedding, and she assured us we had plenty of time and there was no reason to stress. At our tasting, we sampled 5 flavors but were told we could do pretty much any flavor combination of cake/ frosting/ filling that we wanted. We also ended up changing our vision for the cake after seeing their inspiration photos - and we’re so glad we did! Paula and her team were fabulous from start to finish. The tasting experience both fun and beyond delicious. Paula was great about giving suggestions but allowed us to make our own choices. The cake was ultimately fantastic - both in taste and visual style. We opted to get some gluten free cupcakes as well for guests and they were incredible as well. Everyone was thrilled with the dessert options and we couldn't be happier that we relied upon Icing on the Cake for our big day.

BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER!!!! Seriously can't emphasize enough how fantastic The Icing on the Cake is. First, Paula was super fun to work with, immediately understood our vision and sketched up our dream cake perfectly when we first met her. The cake itself was BEAUTIFUL and exactly what we wanted. Importantly, it was also DELICIOUS. We had many guests comment that it was the best-tasting wedding cake they'd ever had. Everyone was so impressed that it both looked amazing AND tasted amazing. I got married this past Sunday & my wedding cake was made by The Icing on the cake and to say it was delicious and a hit is an understatement. The issue I have with many bakeries are that their cakes are too sweet, especially the frosting. The sugar overpower the flavors and you can’t even eat a whole slice or the cake is dry. That is NOT an issue with this bakery. It was moist and even the guests with the most sensitivity to sugar had 2 slices. The flavors were also AMAZING. Especially strawberry, orange, and raspberry. (Each tier had a different flavor filling which was the best advice from Paula and decision). In my culture the wedding cake is central to the reception, even more so than the food. The Icing on the Cake did not disappoint me or my guests. The quality of their cakes are so good, I took the wedding topper home and shared with co-workers, it is now 3 days after my wedding and the cake is still as good as it was on my wedding day. Still soft & moist even after being refrigerated. I will definitely be ordering from them for future occasions, & I strongly suggest you do too.

Paula was such a pleasure to work with - she was so professional, quick to respond, and kind. She ensured we felt safe and comfortable during our cake tasting (due to the pandemic). Plexiglass was installed, gloves were worn when reviewing her photobooks, and she and her staff all wore masks. The cake design we had in mind was fairly intricate and she created such a beautiful cake! It was exactly how we imagined it would be and our photographer and guests were really wowed. Moreover, the cake was absolutely delicious! We're definitely looking forward to getting more cakes from Paula in the future - my husband already knows which flavor I want for my birthday!

I am in absolute awe of how our wedding cake from The Icing on the Cake turned out! Paula was fantastic to work with! We had a very specific vision for our cake, and they truly brought it to life. Since my husband and I are from two different cities, we asked that the skylines of both be incorporated, and they did a wonderful job making this happen with incredible detail. Our wedding was at the Museum of Science (I am a scientist myself), and so instead of traditional piping on the other tiers, Paula suggested we do some science themed piping -- DNA and molecules. It was absolutely amazing, and the work put into it was incredible. To top it all off, the cake was delicious! All the guests loved it, and everything was finished the night of the wedding!

They did not disappoint! Paula was a pleasure to work with and made the process so easy. She helped us decide what would be most efficient for our guest count while allowing us multiple flavor options. I would not be lying to say that the cake was by far the easiest part of our wedding. From the second I talked to Paula on the phone to set up a time to come in and discuss the details she could not have been more accommodating! We had to reschedule a few times due to the Bruins playoffs (Paula’s a fan too so it worked out), but when we met with Paula in person everything just fell into place. She asked all the right questions, and advised us on things we didn’t have answers for (what size cake do you need for 200 guests?), showed us some examples of cakes she has done in the past and asked the big question, “what did you always dream your wedding cake would look like?”. It’s like she could read my mind because the cake could not have been more perfect! The colors matched our decor, the rope and grommets matched our nautical Cape Cod theme, and the cake itself was delicious! The best part of meeting with Paula was of course getting to taste the different flavors of cakes they make – this was the real hard part – deciding which ones to choose, they were all amazing! After that meeting we knew we could check one big item off our to-do list and never look back. Now we just need to come up with reasons we need cake to work with Paula again :)

We ordered our wedding cake from Icing on the Cake. The cake was so good. Guests were telling us how much they loved the cake. Icing on the Cake was able to make cupcakes that were nut free and egg free to accommodate some of our guests.

Our wedding cake was fabulous! TIOTC was one of the options as part of our venue's catering package, and we are so glad that it was! Paula was fun to work with, and my husband and I had a great time at our tasting. She helped us to pick a design that blended traditional and modern styles, and that would fit well with the reception space. We chose the amaretto filling and strawberry filling with gold cake, and both were delicious.

We worked with Paula on our cake, and she was a sweet and easy person to communicate with. At our tasting, we tried just about every single cake option they had in the store (all very good) and picked out our flavors. We also loved that we were able to use a topper and some of our own flowers on the cake to keep the look simple and elegant. The cake arrived in plenty of time on the wedding day (early enough for my MOH to place the flowers) and they even put in our topper when they arrived! The whole team was great to deal with, and to top it off the cake was one of the best wedding cakes I've had. Very light and flavorful - we had multiple people going up to get a second (or third) slice! Highly recommend The Icing On The Cake.

We wanted a local cake baker to make our wedding cake and were thrilled with the Icing on the Cake in Newton. Paula sat down with my mom and I to discuss (and try!) their cake options. By the end of the consultation, she had drawn by hand what our cake and icing design might look like, and we were hooked by how delicious every flavor combo was. There were so many scrumptious varieties to choose from. We ordered a tiered cake with several flavors. Some of our guests tried all of them, and days later more raved about how tasty the cake had been. All around, it was an easy experience with excellent outcomes.

My wedding cake is what I was looking forward to most (other than the groom) as someone who bakes quite a lot herself. The tasting was great, she worked with us to combine our different ideas of what we wanted to create an absolute masterpiece. We had a four tier cake (each with different flavors) and four different types of cupcakes, all with different designs. Every single flavor was phenomenal and the look was amazing as well. One week out from the wedding we had a bit of a snafu with the hotel and she was quick to come up with a great solution. Would absolutely use her again, she was the best!

We loved working with Paula! We ALL loved the cake!! She made very helpful suggestions with our budget and wedding plan. Also, Paula did a great job duplicating the look of our inspiration cake. I have nothing negative to say. Pros: - DELICIOUS CAKE! - Very reasonably priced for the great quality and services. The other 4 vendors priced it hundred of dollars more expensive. The details matter. We really appreciated that Icing on the Cake did not charge for $$$$$ for a simple ribbon or simple design. - Took the time to match the colors and texture sides based on our inspiration photos. General advice: - Silk flowers are great! Much more cost effective than fresh flowers that will wilt in heat and over the course of an entire wedding day. - Avoid fondant. It doesn't taste all that great and gives it a plastic look. - Sheet cakes help decrease the price. - Send fabric swatches if want to match a color. Happy wedding planning!

This place is so amazing! Their cakes taste so fresh and look so beautiful. They will work with you to create your perfect cake. They tell you any extra charges that may happen before doing them. I brought in a color swatch and they matched the icing perfect to it.

The best experience ever from start to finish!!! Our Venue gives three cake bakery's to choose from so The icing on the cake was our first to choice and made it our last never even bother to go to the other two that's how fantastic the cakes tastes!! Paula is super nice and will guide you through the process she asks you after you pick your flavors and size how many layers and how many tiers How many people will be going an estimate until you find out what your final count is , whats your vision and starts sketching up a drawing of your vision omg she is truly amazing And such a professional a true gem !! She drew a five tier cake I had four layers and three different kinds of cake the vision was it's all about the bling , bling !! Glitz and glamor... I brought in real rhinestones dress belts to wrap around each cake Two large rhinestones pieces for the front of the cake We even framed her artwork it came out gorgeous!!! I actually told her I wanted extra cake so we would be able to eat cake for a week , every bite is to die for!! I found myself waking up in the middle of the night just to eat more cake . Only had 107 guest I got a cake that feed 175 yummy can we say cake cake cake !!! The morning of the wedding I walked into the reception room to see the cake ahead of time I was blown away it was absolutely stunning and it was sparkling everywhere I still can't get over how amazing it looked it was grand with a touch of elegance It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen and the best part it taste fantastic!!! We love our cake!!! everyone that came to the wedding was impressed and said to us Now that's a wedding cake you will never forget !! We were extremely pleased with Icing On The Cake! Their cakes are SO delicious and look absolutely beautiful as well. They offer a huge variety of sizing and different ways to save money if you are not serving just cake as your wedding dessert. They are not there to make the sale, but instead want to ensure that the cake represents your personal style as a couple. We were able to sample at least 6 delicious flavors (that we chose from a longer list), and we flipped through tons of design books they had of past cakes. Paula then drew up a sketch of our cake, and I could tell she knew exactly what we wanted. We connected on the phone about a week prior to the wedding to review final details. Delivery was prompt and professional, and everything turned out absolutely stunning & delicious! I'm still getting compliments on how delicious it was. I'll also mention that TIOTC will make you an anniversary cake in exchange for a professional photo of your cake. That's unheard of and SO nice. We highly recommend TIOTC to all!!

This bakery had a partnership with our venue and so we were told the cake included in our package would be coming from here. We already knew that they made great cakes, as my husband has a family member who works here. When we came in to do the tasting, we were completely blown away by our experience! Paula was wonderful from showing us the pictures of all the different options to helping work with us to make our cake truly special. She was able to match the purple my sister was wearing in the ribbons in our cake without even seeing the dress in person! In fact, I’m pretty sure she just did it based on the description. We had three different cake flavors, all of which were wonderful, and we are already looking forward to the free anniversary cake that we got as a gift for giving them a picture of our cake! As a side note, we had a pretty tricky cake topper that was supposed to be two pieces (a bride and a groom) that easily fit together. It was clear from when I took them out of the box that this was not going to be as easy to make work as it looked in the picture – and Paula and her team make it work AND make it look effortless. Working with this bakery was a joy and we will be sure to support them in the future!

Summary: Our guests were blown away by how tasty the cake was. My wife and I chose Icing on the Cake after trying out 2 other cake vendors in the area. Aside from obviously enjoying the cake tasting, we appreciated the small, personal vibe we got from the bakery. As for the big day itself the cake exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful designed and accurately represented our vision for the cake. We ended up paying a bit more for the additional layers on the cake and I would say that it was worth it. When we did our cake cutting and I had my first bite of the cake I remember being pleasantly surprised - thinking WOW! This is really good! Many of our guests said the same thing, even those that don't normally enjoy wedding cakes. I would recommend The Icing on the Cake.

Icing on the Cake was one of 3 bakeries that our reception venue works with. After visiting each location and tasting at each, choosing Icing on the Cake was an easy decision. We found that not only did their cake taste the best (probably the #1 decision factor), but they gave us a much more personalized cake (as opposed to some other bakeries that are more like factories with no personal touch) that really met our vision. We found Paula extremely easy to work with - she made our entire experience delightful. Would highly recommend Icing on the Cake!

We loved The Icing On The Cake from the moment we went in for our tasting. It was a one on one with the owner and she was amazing. We went over what we wanted and what our vision was. We tasted several incredible cake flavors and not once felt any pressure. At our wedding the cake was everything we dreamed and everyone just loved it. Paula was amazing to work with! She made our cake for 8/18/18. A little rain drop got on one of our icing flowers and my coordinator told me she called Paula and she rushed right over to fix it to make sure we had the perfect cake! The flavors are out of this world. She was easy to work with and felt like family as soon as we arrived at icing on the cake!

From our first meeting with Paula, Icing on the Cake did not dissapoint! Paula was very helpful in picking out cake flavors for us to try and she made suggestions for combining icing flavors, which is what we decided to do for our wedding cake! Raspberry and lemon icing is delicious!! She was also extremely helpful in picking out designs for the exterior of the cake. We sampled cake at other bakeries but did not get the same support as we did from Paula who sat with us the whole time and helped us through the process. Plus, the cake at other bakeries just didn’t compare to The Icing on the Cake! Our guests were raving about the display and the flavors at our wedding. The best part... if you send a picture of your wedding cake from your wedding, Icing on the Cake will provide you with a small cake on your one year anniversary instead of having to eat the frozen cake!! We recently had a cake from TIOTC at our wedding. The cake was delicious- perfectly moist and the frosting is to die for. We were a bit disappointed in the decorations on the cake (city scapes), as the skylines were very small on our relatively large cake and very pale in color, making them hard to even see. This was partially our fault, as we should have been more explicit about wanting the skylines to be very visible to all guests. Overall, we had a good experience!

As the granddaughter of a baker, I had a very specific idea of what my wedding cake would taste like and The Icing on the Cake was the perfect fit! During my consultation, Paula worked with me to design the look of my cake and select the best flavors. In addition, she took special care to support me in taking some designs from my grandfather’s previous cakes to incorporate into my wedding cake. I am very grateful and would 100% recommend The Icing on the Cake!

We ordered our wedding cake from TIOTC for our recent Boston wedding. The cake was delicious- it was definitely one of the best wedding cakes we've tasted. We were a bit disappointed with the decorations (city skylines), but we should have communicated better what we want. The skylines ultimately ended up being very small and pale in color on what was a large cake. I don't think our guests even noticed that there were skylines on the cake. Overall, we had a good experience with TIOTC and would recommend them.

Everything about working with Paula was fantastic! From the cake tasting to designing our cake, she made the experience so much fun! Paula is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, so it was an absolute pleasure working with her. Did I mention that our cake was absolutely stunning AND delicious? Paula was great! We met with her to do a cake tasting and she was fabulous from the start. She was willing to work with us so that we got exactly what we wanted. We went with 4 different cupcakes flavors and each was better than the next, we had no leftovers. Her pricing is very reasonable as well! Would highly recommend Paula and Icing on the Cake, so delicious!!

TIOTC was our FAVORITE part of our wedding. From the day we did the tasting with Paula and experienced so many delicious flavors, we knew that this was the place to get our cake. We had a large wedding (~225 guests) and wanted a small ceremonial cake for cutting, and then sheet cakes in multiple flavors to serve our guest count. Paula was so accommodating in this! She helped us imagine the perfect design for our cake, and drew on a beautiful Boston skyline as part of our wedding theme. We got so many compliments on the cake and really only wish we could have eaten more!

My cake from The Icing on the Cake came with the package at my venue and boy am I happy it did. Paula organized a very comfortable and informative tasting with many flavor choices and a full book of her past work to gauge our likes/dislikes. My blue and silver evening in the city wedding was taken to the next level with a crisp white cake, with silver bling, and the skyline outlined across the center. Inside, my plain husband's taste of just chocolate or vanilla was taken to the next level when Paula suggested funfetti cake/frosting for one of the main layers. She organized the entire delivery with the venue and I was left to just eat cake! Many guests told me the worst part about the wedding was that they were not allowed to have two slices of cake, because it was SO good. Overall, Paula was the perfect baker to turn my big day into an edible treat for my friends and family.

Paula at Icing on the Cake was a pleasure to work with!!! Our cake was included in our venue package. We arranged a tasting where we selected at least 5 pieces. Before my tasting I absolutely did not want fruit in the cake!!! But after we tasted the chocolate cake with mocha ganache and a thin raspberry tart - I was SOLD. It was moist and flavorful and the same on our wedding night. We even left our tasting with a sketch of our cake, ribbon sample and any extras we wished to include. We did bring out wedding invitations and cake topper with us to give her an idea of our theme. We received so many complements on the cake the night of!!! Can't wait for our anniversary topper!
