The Icing On The Cake

We've been long-time lovers of icing on the cake, so naturally, we knew they had to make our wedding cake. We were amazed by their final design, which perfectly matched our birch tree cake vision. Best cake we've ever had! Unfortunately, we only got a bite of our cake before the catering serving staff cleared it away and never wrapped it up. The serving staff also dropped and smashed our top tier that we were saving for our 1yr anniversary. Highly recommend icing on the cake amaretto and mocha chocolate with extra raspberry!

The cake was beyond beautiful. We did a small ceremony cake and then had more cake in the back to cut down on costs. But everyone commented on how beautiful our cake was. It was also very delicious (we did 2 different flavors) and there were almost no leftovers. We had to have our caterer set some aside for us to make sure we got to eat it.

I would highly recommend The Icing on The Cake for anyone looking for wedding cake! My only complaint is we had none left at the end of the night and wanted to enjoy some the next day! BUT that is a testament to how good this cake was!!! Paula got our vision immediately and the cake was phenomenal

I would highly recommend The Icing on the Cake to anyone looking for a wedding cake in the Boston area! First of all, cake tasting at the bakery in Newton with Paula was definitely one of the most fun moments of wedding planning. We felt like we were in good hands with Paula and she helped us come up with a design that was perfect for us (even included an outline of the Boston skyline on the top tier!) and matched the icing flowers on the cake to the colors of our florals. The cake was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite memories from the wedding reception. We found the bakery through our hotel and I'm so glad we did! I'd definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a gorgeous cake that also tastes amazing!

THERE WAS NO CAKE LEFT! That's how you know everyone loved it. People were absolutely raving about the cake during the wedding. Working with Patti at the bakery was wonderful, she was very helpful in helping us figure out what we wanted, and her assistant gave us the amazing idea to use metal flowers for our industrial-style wedding. They were by far the easiest vendor we worked with, and I never needed to worry about the cake. If I ever need another event cake, they will definitely be were I go. Did I mention that they are affordable?

This was such an easy part of the process for us. We had one meeting where we tasted all the various combinations and set our preferences for how things would look. We interacted via email and phone a few times, and they took care of everything else. Everyone at the wedding loved our cake, and we can't wait to eat our top layer a year from now!

Our stylish and delicious cake was a big hit, even for people who don’t usually eat wedding cake! Our experience at Icing on the Cake was extremely simple. Paula has been in the industry for decades and her experience was made clear by the clarity she provided in the course of our decision process. At our tasting, we sampled a wide variety of flavors and reviewed hundreds of photos of past cakes seeking inspiration. We elected for a three-tier cake with a different flavor for each tier, complete with a fondant outline of the Boston skyline. Very happy with the results, and walked away with beautiful photos!

Working with IOTC was super easy, and they were very responsive to our inquiry. The tasting (even in COVID) was fun and the cakes tasted amazing! They had several example cakes depending on what you want and we were stunned at the cake she drew for us, but then on wedding day it was even better. Would recommend them to anyone getting in the greater Boston area! We had so many people compliment the cake staff at how great it was!

FANTASTIC CAKE!!! Paula, the owner, was so helpful in making decisions on how much to get, style, size, etc. (I'm a terrible decision maker. My fiance doesn't like desserts at all and he LOVED the cake. We chose 3 different flavors and then did a backup sheet cake for a 4th flavor. Everyone who tried it said it was the best cake they've had. We will never go anywhere else for a custom cake!

Starting with our tasting, Paula was great to work with. We were able to have multiple flavors, which were all delicious, and we loved the simple design of our cake. Icing on the Cake made the best cake we have ever tasted/seen! It was so beautiful! The owner made it with a lot of gold to go with our NYE theme! The owner even made us little cupcakes that we enjoyed the whole weekend! We will be using Icing on the Cake for all of our parties & events!

We love Paula and The Icing on the Cake! I got my Bat Mitzvah cake from TIOTC back in 2005 and I knew when I got married I wanted my Wedding Cake from there too. From the moment we walked into our tasting back in Feb 2020, Paula has been a dream to work with. Our cake was gorgeous and DELICIOUS. Paula at Icing on the Cake was the easiest vendor to work with! Not only was our cake gorgeous, it also tasted amazing. We met with Paula less than 2 weeks before our wedding, and she assured us we had plenty of time and there was no reason to stress. At our tasting, we sampled 5 flavors but were told we could do pretty much any flavor combination of cake/ frosting/ filling that we wanted. We also ended up changing our vision for the cake after seeing their inspiration photos - and we’re so glad we did! We will absolutely be using Icing on the Cake for future celebrations and are beyond thrilled they made our wedding cake. Thank you!

Paula and her team were fabulous from start to finish. The tasting experience both fun and beyond delicious. Paula was great about giving suggestions but allowed us to make our own choices. The cake was ultimately fantastic - both in taste and visual style. We opted to get some gluten free cupcakes as well for guests and they were incredible as well. Everyone was thrilled with the dessert options and we couldn't be happier that we relied upon Icing on the Cake for our big day.

Paula was so great to work with from start to finish. We got a smaller two-tier wedding cake and then 4 kinds of wedding cupcakes...they all looked fantastic and more importantly tasted delicious! We were very happy with our experience!

BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER!!!! Seriously can't emphasize enough how fantastic The Icing on the Cake is. First, Paula was super fun to work with, immediately understood our vision and sketched up our dream cake perfectly when we first met her. The cake itself was BEAUTIFUL and exactly what we wanted. Importantly, it was also DELICIOUS. We had many guests comment that it was the best-tasting wedding cake they'd ever had. Everyone was so impressed that it both looked amazing AND tasted amazing. Definitely highly recommend!!

I got married this past Sunday & my wedding cake was made by The Icing on the cake and to say it was delicious and a hit is an understatement. The issue I have with many bakeries are that their cakes are too sweet, especially the frosting. The sugar overpower the flavors and you can’t even eat a whole slice or the cake is dry. That is NOT an issue with this bakery. It was moist and even the guests with the most sensitivity to sugar had 2 slices. The flavors were also AMAZING. Especially strawberry, orange, and raspberry. (Each tier had a different flavor filling which was the best advice from Paula and decision). In my culture the wedding cake is central to the reception, even more so than the food. The Icing on the Cake did not disappoint me or my guests. The quality of their cakes are so good, I took the wedding topper home and shared with co-workers, it is now 3 days after my wedding and the cake is still as good as it was on my wedding day. Still soft & moist even after being refrigerated. I will definitely be ordering from them for future occasions, & I strongly suggest you do too.

Paula was such a pleasure to work with - she was so professional, quick to respond, and kind. She ensured we felt safe and comfortable during our cake tasting (due to the pandemic). Plexiglass was installed, gloves were worn when reviewing her photobooks, and she and her staff all wore masks. The cake design we had in mind was fairly intricate and she created such a beautiful cake! It was exactly how we imagined it would be and our photographer and guests were really wowed. Moreover, the cake was absolutely delicious! We're definitely looking forward to getting more cakes from Paula in the future - my husband already knows which flavor I want for my birthday!

Paula was amazing - so efficient and professional. We had to do our cake planning last minute due to changes in our wedding on account of Covid and The Icing on the Cake was flexible and willing to help however they could. Plus, the cake was delicious!

I am in absolute awe of how our wedding cake from The Icing on the Cake turned out! Paula was fantastic to work with! We had a very specific vision for our cake, and they truly brought it to life. Since my husband and I are from two different cities, we asked that the skylines of both be incorporated, and they did a wonderful job making this happen with incredible detail. Our wedding was at the Museum of Science (I am a scientist myself), and so instead of traditional piping on the other tiers, Paula suggested we do some science themed piping -- DNA and molecules. It was absolutely amazing, and the work put into it was incredible. To top it all off, the cake was delicious! All the guests loved it, and everything was finished the night of the wedding!

I met someone who had previously worked in the wedding industry and I asked him if he could recommend one place for us to get our cake, what would it be? His answer: The Icing on the Cake. They did not disappoint! Paula was a pleasure to work with and made the process so easy. She helped us decide what would be most efficient for our guest count while allowing us multiple flavor options. Several guests said they always expect wedding cake to be dry and were blown away with how incredible the cake was. My Dad has my Mom sneak him extra pieces! We truly could not have been happier with every piece from the tasting, design, and delivery. Highly recommended!!

I would not be lying to say that the cake was by far the easiest part of our wedding. From the second I talked to Paula on the phone to set up a time to come in and discuss the details she could not have been more accommodating! We had to reschedule a few times due to the Bruins playoffs (Paula’s a fan too so it worked out), but when we met with Paula in person everything just fell into place. She asked all the right questions, and advised us on things we didn’t have answers for (what size cake do you need for 200 guests?), showed us some examples of cakes she has done in the past and asked the big question, “what did you always dream your wedding cake would look like?”. It’s like she could read my mind because the cake could not have been more perfect! The colors matched our decor, the rope and grommets matched our nautical Cape Cod theme, and the cake itself was delicious! The best part of meeting with Paula was of course getting to taste the different flavors of cakes they make – this was the real hard part – deciding which ones to choose, they were all amazing! After that meeting we knew we could check one big item off our to-do list and never look back. Now we just need to come up with reasons we need cake to work with Paula again :)

We ordered our wedding cake from Icing on the Cake. The cake was so good. Guests were telling us how much they loved the cake. Icing on the Cake was able to make cupcakes that were nut free and egg free to accommodate some of our guests.

Our wedding cake was fabulous! TIOTC was one of the options as part of our venue's catering package, and we are so glad that it was! Paula was fun to work with, and my husband and I had a great time at our tasting. She helped us to pick a design that blended traditional and modern styles, and that would fit well with the reception space. We chose the amaretto filling and strawberry filling with gold cake, and both were delicious.
