We used the Inn for our ceremony & reception, as it saved us having to book separate vendors for ceremony, reception, catering, & bar; all of these are included. Our experience lea...
ding up to the day was positive-our sales rep Angie worked well with us; she was responsive to questions and honest about what was and wasn’t possible. However, she was unavailable the day of the wedding (she did warn us about this in advance), & during the entire weekend, there seemed to be a skeleton crew of staff operating. We had a hard time finding someone to let us into the Conservatory on Friday & Saturday for setup. Additionally, the staff working at this event venue all seemed utterly perplexed by the fact that…there was an event happening. There was no one around to meet the vendors who were arriving, there was no one to let us into the building at the agreed upon time, & we had to give the same setup instructions multiple times as we kept getting punted to different people when we asked a question. No one seemed to know who was in charge.
A few other things to keep in mind before booking this venue :
- You are required to use onsite catering. This was a plus for us as it meant one less vendor to book, but I highly recommend going to as many of the tasting events as you can to get a good idea of the food.
- There is no designated getting ready space, which is difficult if you are planning to have your ceremony there. Booking the garden does come with a stay in the Lavender Suite, but check in is 4pm, standard for a hotel, but quite late for getting ready. When I asked about space to get ready, the staff recommended booking a room for Friday AND Saturday night, to ensure we'd have the room all day on Saturday. This is something that was never mentioned in all of our booking conversations and only came up after I specifically asked about it at one of our final meetings.
- There is an additional fee to book the space for setup on Friday. Our sales rep told us that although they try not to book Friday events when there’s a Saturday wedding, sometimes it is unavoidable. We gambled & ended up being able to set up on Friday as hoped. On the positive side, it is not expected that you will tear down all of the decorations on Saturday night.
- If you book a room block, ensure that guests know in advance that they must CALL to reserve those rooms. Most of our guests opted to book online, & nearly all of the rooms we had blocked sat empty.
- The garden is not well maintained. Perhaps it looks better in the spring or summer, but lots of plants were overgrown, & we would have spent the ceremony ducking & high stepping around them. Although the website says the garden can hold up to 150 people, it is a better size for a small, intimate ceremony (50 or less) & small wedding party.
- If weather makes an outdoor ceremony inadvisable, the alternative is to hold the ceremony on the dance floor. This ended up working out MUCH better than the garden, and in fact I am relieved it rained! There was much more space, we had chairs for family on the dance floor and everyone else sat at their assigned tables. There was an actual aisle for the wedding party to walk down, & plenty of space for everyone to stand without having to straddle a large overgrown bush.
- The owners are selling off all of their properties, including this one. This may have contributed to the lack of staff and general lack of preparedness.

be creative and were flexible. We had an idea and the team guided us through all the steps needed to provide our daughter’s perfect event. Food was great, served attractively and at the right temps. Bar staff was wonderful. On top of that our stay and the suite was everything we needed. Don’t bother looking elsewhere.

lped us reschedule our event due to COVID. At the event, the staff serving the food and drinks and the day-of event coordinated were all amazing. The food was wonderful, too, and we got many compliments on it from our guests. Probably one of the best parts was having a beautiful room to stay in the night of, because the Inn itself is just gorgeous! Highly recommend the Inn at 835 for your wedding or next event.

& accommodating! The layout and flow of the ballroom and bar offers efficiency and plenty of space for you and your guests to eat, drink, visit, dance etc. In addition the Inn itself is breathtaking!
As a Covid bride and groom who had to postpone and replan, we cannot thank you enough, For all the organizing and back and forth we had to do because of the pandemic.. thank you so much for being so understanding and working with us! ❤️
The food was delicious- everyone loved it! Also the bar made fantastic drinks for everyone to enjoy! The atmosphere is vintage yet chic and our reception felt so whimsical under candle light.
Also, thank you for being so great to work with the other vendors who helped make the day run smoothly!
A very happy bride!

ng tables and assisting with last minute requests. Julie and her team are the absolute best and I am so happy we chose the Inn for our ceremony and reception venue!
My husband and I had our wedding here. The seemed very disorganized. We felt like we weren't being listened to, had to repeat ourselves multiple times and ask questions multiple t...
imes before getting an answer. You have to look through your contract with a fine comb because the coordinator makes many mistakes and upcharges. Multiple guests said that trying to book the room was difficult and staff was rude. The day itself was good, besides wait staff taking our food away before we finished (as we had to get up and see a few guests who had to leave). We asked wait staff to not take our food. They did and then were rude and said they could make more, however, the schedule still had to go on and we couldn't wait for more. Parts in our contract that stated we would receive certain things day of like coffee and water station was never there. When we brought this up they essentially said "whoops" and we did not get prorated. We also were told by the bartender (who was great) that not many people drank wine so we had money left over on our tab. When we reached out to Julie (coordinator) about this she said that we didn't. She sent scans of receipts. I explained that it was weird because the bartender said otherwise. We never heard back from her again.
Excellent venue for reception with awesome staff! This space was also our backup for rain. They were super accommodating and helped us make a last minute call (like an hour before)...
. The central dance floor gave our guests an intimate look at all the happenings and kept people on the dance floor all night long. My parents said this is the best wedding food they've had and I was the 4th of 4 sisters to get married!

ise. Nick was our contact at the reception itself and made sure everything went seamlessly. I spent most of the evening in the reception room but heard later that the bar area was a lot of fun - nice to have a separate area for guests who didn't want to dance and wanted to visit. We wanted it to be a special evening and good time for everyone and that's the feedback we received. The photos in front of and on the grand staircase of the Inn itself are stunning! I would recommend this venue to anyone!
Perfect in every way! Hands down the best venue around for a lovely reception. Julie, the Sales/Event coordinator is so wonderful to work with. The food is fabulous. The staff were...

our wedding there, it’s beyond special. Every step of the planning was so easy with Julie and Nick. Even the day of the wedding when it looked like the weather wouldn’t cooperate, everyone was so patient and nice. We had a relatively small wedding, so the garden area was perfect. We’ve gotten so many compliments on how beautiful our wedding was and how amazing the food was. I had the wedding of my dreams and the Inn at 835 played a big part in that.

nd the Inn is by far my favorite venue to work with. They were priced very well for the value and perfect for our small group of 85 people. From the start Julie and Nick made the planning process easy and low pressure. The food was great, the servers were awesome and the bartender kept everyone happy. I could not be more pleased with the overall experience and service. If we had to do it all over again, I wouldnt change a thing.

ere, and amazing food. Their staff is undoubtedly the best and I cannot imagine our big day without all of their help. The elegance of the venue room, pairing with the high reputation of the catering options is something that makes the Inn way over the top from any other venue in the Springfield area. The night of our wedding, I had so many guests talk about how amazing the food was and it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Plus, with their seasonal tastings, there are multiple opportunities to taste their selections, but seriously, there is no bad option with their food.
Also I would love to point out how helpful and thoughtful Cody was during the night of our wedding, he handled everything with such ease. The servers and the bartender were so incredible to my family and friends and just very attentive to the night which was great that I didn't worry about anything.
Julie is incredible. She works so very hard and met with my family and I multiple times and was always attentive to changes, even at the last minute. She has so many great ideas and is very knowledgeable and experienced which was super comforting. From the very start I knew I was in great hands. I sing nothing but the highest of praise about the Inn and I cannot imagine my wedding any other way.
If you're planning a wedding reception or any event in Springfield, IL, you MUST use the Inn at 835! I've personally attended a wedding as a guest at almost all of the Springfield ...
area wedding venues, so at the time of my engagement, I didn't even look at another option! I knew that we would be in good hands with the team at the Inn, that the meal would be wonderful, and that the space would be unique and beautiful!
We hosted our wedding there on 10/28/17 and they ensured that everything was perfect- from the food to the service! The event was so memorable and special because of the staff's support throughout the process. We received many compliments from our guests on how unique and beautiful the Inn is. They also commented on how friendly the staff was.
The Inn is romantic and a beautiful space, perfect for a wedding. I could not have asked for a better wedding reception venue! Many thanks to Julie, Nick, and Cody!

They took so much stress out of the wedding day. They asked for all the contact info of the dj, baker, etc, so they coordinated all the day of stuff. It was almost like having a built in wedding planner.
Nick, the day of coordinator was amazing. He was super helpful and made sure everything looked amazing.
They also put aside a plate of appetizers so we wouldn't miss them them while we were taking pictures.
BTW, their food is amazing. Go with their buffet option, because your guests will want seconds. They had mac and cheese bite that my husband loved. Also, when my mom went up for seconds, she got an entire plate filled with their garlic mashed potatoes.
All of our guests agreed it was a perfect wedding reception, and that wouldn't have happened without the Inn. All of their staff was amazing.

e to get in early (by a couple days!) to decorate for the festivities, and Nick was around for the entire duration of our reception to handle things. We ran a little ahead of schedule and that did not seem to be a problem at all, they had a plan in case of rain, and they kept in contact with us throughout the whole process. Our guests had only good things to say about the look of the venue and how delicious the food was! I can't wait to book another event with the inn, everything was amazing.
The Inn at 835 was a wonderful venue for our wedding reception of 150 people. Julie helped me plan everything months in advance, and Nick helped me the day of my wedding to ensure ...
that everything ran very smoothly. Everyone raved about the food that we chose and how pretty the reception was decorated, along with the excellent service from the waiters/bartenders at The Inn. I would highly recommend the Airline chicken with red pepper cream sauce, Baked ziti with sausage, Garlic smashed potatoes, California medley vegetables, House salad and the Strawberry Chantilly dessert. We stayed in The Lavender Suite the night of our wedding and it was very pretty and super cozy. If you want great service from really nice people then choose The Inn at 835! :)

We have also gotten many compliments on the food, as it was amazing! We had planned for a wedding in the garden, however the weather did not cooperate with us on our wedding day. We had to move the wedding inside the Inn, but it still looked amazing and worked out so wonderfully!! Having our wedding at the Inn at 835 was a wonderful decision!

I was able to buy several kegs and a champagne toast while keeping my budget where I needed it to be. I can't thank them enough for how great the night went. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and Nick was so accommodating to our requests! It honestly couldn't have been any better. I can't tell you how many people came up to me that night and raved about the food and good service. The bar staff was excellent as well! We look forward to staying there in the years to come and would highly recommend it to others. Great job and many thanks!

the staff made it so easy. We were able to enjoy the wedding & reception without worries about anything. The Inn is absolutely beautiful. We held the ceremony in the garden area outside which was perfect. The reception hall is beautiful in itself so minimal decorating is needed. The food by Conn's was awesome, not one complaint. All of the staff, servers and bartenders were so polite and helpful with any request. Everyone really went above and beyond to make our daughters wedding perfect, and it was exactly that! A lot of guests commented that they did not know about the Inn @ 835 and how beautiful it was. I can guarantee anyone looking for a venue, especially for a wedding, will not find anywhere else in Springfield that beats the service or price. This is a top notch venue and would highly recommend to anyone.

ception. From the first meeting through the end of our wedding day, the staff was there to help with whatever we needed, big or small. The planning for a wedding can be very stressful, but the reception hall coordinator walked us through the entire planning process and gave us much appreciated advice and guidance. During the whole process, she was in close touch and worked with us on any issues that unexpectedly popped up.
Our reception itself went incredibly smoothly, and the coordinator was there throughout the day to assist with anything that was needed. She stayed in touch with our other vendors and coordinated set up for our DJ and photographer, as well as delivery of our cake. Being able to relax and enjoy the evening without worry was great. We absolutely would recommend the Inn to anyone planning a wedding in the Springfield area!
The staff was very helpful. They had a beautiful courtyard for a garden ceremony. The banquet room worked perfectly for our dinner and dancing reception.
