Just got married at the Inn this past May, Doug and Karissa were amazing to work with!! Incredibly easy, communicative, accommodating, the works! The Inn is gorgeous, the grounds ...
were gorgeous, and we stayed at the Inn along with many of our guests, a whole wedding weekend getaway, and we couldn't be happier with the service. Highly recommend even if just for a weekend getaway, a rehearsal dinner, and absolutely for a wedding! We will likely celebrate our anniversary here for many years to come!
We needed a break from our hectic work schedules. I knew what I was looking for – beauty, scenic views, Peace and Tranquility but I just couldn’t find something that touched my so...
ul. Somehow fortunately the internet led me to the Inn at Woodstock Hill. The website photos are true. The reviews are true. I hope I can share my photos with you.
Doug was the man who answered my call. Witty, professional, noble.
I called the Inn and Doug answered. I explained my situation – I wanted the best for my wife who was approaching a life milestone and wanted to celebrate, if only for 24 hours.
Doug recommended the best room in the house. OMG! This is not your typical B&B. The funniest part is that, I would never have expected vaulted ceilings and exposed wood beams, Ceiling Fan, A/C, Fireplace, Windows galore and all the modern day conveniences. The bathroom is spectacular. The Four Post King Size Bed and Pillows are the best. Absolute Home Run!!
I was concerned about my Wife’s ability to walk up the staircase. I worried until the moment I walked up this magnificently created staircase. The risers are low and very manageable. The railing is sturdy like an oak but truly a piece of art. The width is wide and accommodating for big people carrying luggage, which Doug voluntarily carried up to our room for us. The staircase is breathtaking.
Doug was very attentive by email or phone. We spoke often. Doug became my accomplice and anticipated my needs.
I wanted Flowers and Chocolates in the Room prior to arrival. Doug was like “I’ve got the Chocolates covered and here is the number to a Florist in Town”. The Florist had a user friendly website and I was able to order and customize my gift online, as this was a big surprise, I had to keep my secret phone calls to a minimum for fear of my Bride becoming suspicious.
Next, Dinner recommendations. At this point I fully trusted Doug’s recommendations and requested that he make reservations for 5:30pm and preferably, someplace that served Stuffed Clams. My wife was saying lately how much she wants to have stuffed clams!
Doug called to confirm the reservations, as I also received an online confirmation from the restaurant itself. Doug explained the mouthwatering menu but no clams. Better to hear it from him, then think that he didn’t honor my request, right? The menu was still outstanding (Beef Wellington, Bone Marrow, Watermelon with Feta Salad). My Wife and I are foodies. Another homerun!
So as we’re riding up from New Haven County: 90 minute trip, relaxing music, good conversation. My phone rings and its Doug. He’s calling to inform me that although his restaurant is currently closed, he has taken the liberty of obtaining some stuffed clams and wanted to know if we would like to enjoy them in the Gazebo outside or, in the Dining Room inside? Words cannot describe this level of customer satisfaction. I chose the Gazebo and now my wife knows that there is a guy named Doug who is involved in this surprise adventure. The soft romantic music, the birds chirping, the tranquility of the beautifully landscaped property. It was the beginning of being able to relax. To breathe the fresh air. To laugh and be at awe of the property.
Doug allowed us to check in early, as the room wasn’t used the night before. We arrived at 11am Saturday and had to leave by 8am the following morning. In that short period of time, I fell in love with this property and so will you.
The staff at the Inn was excellent, kind, and accommodating. It was easy to communicate likes, dislikes, and changes as we saw fit. The venue itself was nice. The weather cooperate...
d so we were able to utilize the back patio for cocktail hour. It was a little different having the dance floor on the porch off of the reception hall, but it worked! We had full reign of the grounds which was great for the little ones who wanted to run around. The staff made sure the bride and groom ate first and had enough to drink throughout the day!
This was one of the best decisions we have ever made!! The Inn at Woodstock Hill is one of the main reasons our wedding was one of the most magical experiences of our lives!! Lar...
a was wonderful throughout the entire planning process, listening to our requests and bringing an invaluable flexibility which made our special day even more memorable and amazing!! She was always very attentive to any questions we had, was always easily reached by phone or email and had very quick responses to any issues that popped up! Lara and her staff worked all weekend to make things go smoothly, and you could really tell!! I did not hear one word about any issues, everything was solved without bothering the bride on her big day! From our first visit to our farewell breakfast and everything in between, this venue was perfect and we could not have asked for any more!! Our guests that stayed at the inn raved about the rooms and the food was beyond delicious!! They even let us have our ceremony in a spot they had never used before, without batting an eye! We couldn't be more happy with how our day went!
I couldn't be more pleased with our choice to have a reception at the Inn at Woodstock Hill! The venue is BEAUTIFUL! The Inn is historic with lovely interior designs in each room. ...
There are several gardens and scenic views for pictures. Lara is the event coordinator and she was fabulous to work with! The food was incredible and they make your wedding cake on-site with several options to choose from. We had a tent reception with a sit down meal. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special and turn our dream reception into a reality. I highly recommend the Inn as a wedding venue!
We had our wedding here in August 2014 and it was fantastic. Lara was helpful and professional every single time we talked to her. She ran the whole wedding weekend smoothly and we...
were able to enjoy our guests, the music, the setting, and the delicious food. We did a tented reception on their side lawn for 130 people. The small cottage adjacent to the Inn was perfect for the bride and bridesmaids to have a space to get ready that was not in the main building. It also allowed us to continue partying with our guests once the reception was over. I would highly recommend The Inn at Woodstock Hill to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding venue!
The Inn at Woodstock Hill is not only a vision to behold as you enter, but each time my husband and I visited the venue we found more to love about this 200 year old Inn. We wanted...
an intimate, sophisticated wedding infused with our personality. They provided everything we asked and more! If you are looking for an intimate wedding experience and that personal touch with character for days, then this is the venue for you. The greatest thing is we will always be able to come back and stay the night or just have dinner there for all our many anniversary's to come!
I loved the food adn Lara is great. my complaints are that i ordered a station party and they tried to do a buffet. They also took the food away WAY too early and ran out of some s...

We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception at the Inn at Woodstock Hill over a weekend in September 2012 and had a wonderful experience. Most of our guests travel...
led from other parts of the country and the foremost reaction was "where did you find this place? It's beautiful!" The coordinator Lara took such good care of us, catering to all of our ideas and needs at our meetings, through email during the entire planning process and over the entire weekend. The setting was rustic yet tasteful and elegant. The food was great and the servers were all wonderful. We had planned an outdoor ceremony, but mother nature had other ideas. However, everyone at the Inn worked hard to give us a perfect day anyways. Thank you for an amazing wedding weekend!

pi, was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional for the entire time that we worked with her. She made sure that every detail was covered and offered lots of excellent advice, while still being flexible and giving us the final say in what should be done. Whenever I called or emailed her with questions she always responded promptly and on the day of the wedding she kept everything running smoothly.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and charming, both inside and outside. We held our ceremony outdoors on the patio by a gazebo, the cocktail hour was held both indoors and outdoors, and the reception was indoors with dancing on the open air deck with an awning. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather the day of our wedding, but in the case that it had rained there was a backup location available for the ceremony.
We served prime rib with yorkshire pudding, honey mustard glazed salmon, and chicken florentine as our entrees and we received lots of compliments from our guests about how wonderful the food was. The service from the waitstaff was also outstanding. I have a gluten allergy and the waiters made sure not only that my entree was gluten free, but that they provided me with h'orderves during cocktail hour that also had no gluten in them as well. We were also able to make the top tier of our wedding cake gluten free.
Overall our experience with the Inn at Woodstock Hill was excellent and I would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a wedding venue in Eastern CT.
We held our rehearsal dinner at the Inn. We also stayed at The Inn the night of our wedding and many of our guests did as well. The venue was picturesque and beautiful and the st...
aff was incredibly helpful and low key about everything. The food at our dinner was terrific and the staff was great about helping us get everything set up the way we wanted. The Inn also hosts weddings, though I would recommend probably weddings on the smaller side unless you were going to put up a tent outside for the reception. We would highly recommend The Inn at Woodstock Hill for weddings, rehearsal dinners, special events, or a place to stay in Woodstock, CT.
