An absolutely perfect weekend! The venue was amazing and beautiful, we were able to use the house and the whole wedding party had a great weekend celebrating the marriage of my daughter and her new hubby. Tara and all the people we worked with through the venue made the event seamless and run so smooth. I couldn't have imagined a better and more beautiful wedding venue! Truly an amazing experience...I would HIGHLY recommend this venue!
Absolutely perfect. The use of the house for the day before and after is so convenient and the management team was great to work with, even throughout covid uncertainties. I would recommend this venue again and again!
We loved it here! We loved that we could rent everything for the whole weekend and stay at this house both Friday and Saturday night. This definitely made it easy on our nerves and anxiety to have everyone there first thing in the morning haha. Tara is amazing and very helpful and accommodating! We ended up moving our outdoor ceremony into the barn Friday night during rehearsal and she made the transition so easy! I was a little sad that we couldn't do my dream outdoor ceremony (especially on their beautiful property) but once I saw the barn all set up I was in love! She had the reception space set up Friday night so that we could decorate in advance and not have to worry Saturday morning. We are seriously so happy that we found this venue and loved every minute of our stay here.
Where do I begin? Montana and I visited TJH a few times but each time we visited we just knew it was the one! We went ahead and booked this venue 2 years in advance! Crazy I know but we are so glad we did! It was the perfect place for us. We were able to do the wedding weekend and have our rehearsal dinner with our whole bridal party and parents the night before. I loved that everyone was able to stay the night and be together the night before our wedding and didn’t have to worry about driving home the night of our wedding either. TJH was absolutely beautiful and I loved how our wedding came together! Tara was super helpful and very friendly. She answered all of our questions and was always a text or phone call away. I’m so glad we were able to have our 2020 wedding here! If you’re looking for a venue that has it all, look no further! We loved TJH! :)
My now husband and I can't say enough good things about The Journey Home. The Manager, Tara, is amazing to work with. She worked with us through every detail and is truly an expert in the field as well knowing the venue and knowing what will/will not work. The property is gorgeous and accommodated all of our out of town guests perfectly in home on the property. The barn was perfect for the reception and was the exact aesthetic I was going for. I highly recommend talking to Tara about renting the draping, it adds a certain charm to the barn that is unmatched. The views are also gorgeous from every angle! During COVID times it was really nice to let our guests know there was plenty of room to spread out both inside and out, maybe as opposed in a downtown KC venue. We were able to perfectly execute the wedding of our dreams due to having the ability to spread out. We received so many compliments about how perfect the venue was. I highly recommend booking your wedding At The Journey home!!
My husband and I absolutely adore this venue. We had trouble agreeing on any venue when we finally arrived at The Journey Home. I wanted rustic and he wanted elegant; The Journey Home is the PERFECT combination of both! The best part is the staff. Tara is so attentive throughout the entire planning process and makes your wedding day an absolute breeze. Thanks for all your hard work!
The Journey Home was perfect for our wedding in August 2020 during COVID. We looked at several venues but none came close. We wanted a family weekend...the location was perfect for social distancing but still enjoying the time together as a family. The house was beautiful and accommodated our guests/children. The reception barn was perfect---could not have worked out any better---with the lights, ceiling fans for air circulation, movable bar---they set up the tables & chairs so all I had to do was minimal decorations----and it was so beautiful. Our family loved it.
This place is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I originally was suppose to have a destination wedding in Hawaii, then covid19 hit and we had to find a venue fast. The Journey Home was there and worked with us on short notice. The staff is very friendly and professional. They have so many resources to make your day as special as it could be. They even let us use the venue for our engagement photos. The barn was perfect for our summer outdoor wedding.
The Journey home was perfect for our wedding! The venue was even more beautiful than the photos (if that is possible!). The area around the property was quite, peaceful, and had a great view. The back screened in porch is a great place to relax on a summer night, and the fire pit is neat as well. Throughout our time on the property we were constantly getting remarks from the guests about how amazing the home was, as well as the barn. It is a gorgeous property all around, and we would HIGHLY recommend this place! As a bonus, Tara is great to work with! She is very warm, welcoming, and kind. They were even able to accommodate my mother who was in a wheel chair during our wedding. I would give them 6 stars if I could!
We were so grateful to have found The Journey Home! I had really wanted to find a venue where we could have our wedding party or any out-of-town guests stay with us to make it as stress-free as possible and it truly did help! We chose to book the venue the night before the wedding so that we could do our rehearsal dinner there and then have an easy transition on the day of the wedding, which I am so glad we did because I’m not sure we would have been able to get it all done any other way. This venue is absolutely stunning! From the beautiful home with the spacious kitchen to host the perfect rehearsal dinner, the numerous bedrooms, and amazing bathrooms to get ready in with all your gal pals, oh and of course, can’t forget the back porch. It’s a favorite! I highly recommend relaxing on the swing. Did this both the night before and night of the wedding! To the outdoors, too! The landscape, the flowers, the trees, the beautiful barn, and the view of the stars is unlike anything I’ve seen this close to Saint Joseph. The general manager, Tara, was the best to work with too! She made so much of the wedding planning process an absolute breeze! I highly recommend looking into some of her preferred vendors because we definitely used a few and it all went splendidly! Thank you Journey Home for being the starting point of our journey as husband and wife! The Ezzell’s❤️
My husband and I looked at a couple different venues before we visited the Journey Home. Both places we found online and suffice it to say, their photos told one story and when we got there, it was not as pictured. The Journey Home was exactly what we were looking for and Tara was an absolute joy to work with. Although she is no longer there, I can only imagine that she left it in good hands! What we loved about the Journey Home was that it was far enough away from things that it was quiet, there were multiple natural photo opportunities, we got to choose exactly where we wanted to have the ceremony and the barn was the perfect place for the reception. The best part by far was that we were able to book the venue for the entire weekend and our entire bridal party and family could stay at the house the whole weekend. It ended up raining the day of our wedding so we had the ceremony in the barn and wow, it turned out prettier and more amazing than I could have ever pictured! This was the perfect venue for us and everyone who has seen our pictures and video agrees that it is absolutely idyllic!
My husband and I got married at the Journey Home on August 24, 2019. Words can not describe how amazingly beautiful the Journey Home is. We stayed the entire weekend and it was so stress free that my husband and I got to truly enjoy our wedding day without having to stress. Tara the site manager was out of this world amazing. She was very easy to work with, quick to return emails and was there the entire day of the wedding to help with vendors and setup. The Journey Home is lucky to have Tara as site manager. I would highly recommend the Journey Home.
This is the place you are looking for your special day! The Journey home was magical and we couldn’t have asked for a better venue, location and barn to have our party! Tara always helped us with all my questions and she was always there for us! Thank you so much for being so helpful and sweet!
The Journey Home was the perfect wedding venue for us! We were looking for something rustic but classy, and the barn was just that! I loved getting to decorate it as my own vision too. It's set in a beautiful location with a house that is open to use from Friday-Sunday. It was so nice to be able to have everything from the rehearsal dinner, bonfire, ceremony, reception, and morning after brunch all in the same location! The whole bridal party had so much fun! Tara really went above and beyond in helping us plan, prepare, celebrate, and clean up our most perfect day! Thank you for everything!
The Journey Home and more specifically, Tara, was so wonderful to work with. The home itself is not only beautiful, but accommodating. The home is fully stocked with towels, utensils, toiletries, appliances, etc. We were hesitant to pay for the convenience of the weekend package, but would do it one hundred times over- my husband and I were able to enjoy our entire weekend with family and friends without the stress of having to rush to and from multiple places. Tara was incredibly kind and flexible- she worked around our schedule and provided around the clock support!
The Journey Home is the perfect location to get married, especially if you have out of town guests. Tara is AMAZING to work with and she never makes you feel as though you've inconvenienced her. She goes above and beyond to make sure you have the perfect day. I would highly recommend choosing the Journey Home for your special day!
My husband and I can’t say enough amazing things about the Journey Home! The barn is absolutely beautiful, the land is gorgeous, and Tara (the venue manager) is simply AMAZING. She was always updating me with new things, sending me pictures of the venue, etc . Tara is a total sweetheart. The day before the wedding she was helping us set up, along with her dad. She was always there if I needed her. On the wedding day she was there doing behind the scenes work. The day after the wedding, she was helping us clean up. She is the best.
Also, we stayed in the house on the property during the weekend at that was wonderful. We felt like we had a weekend getaway. It was convenient and amazing that our wedding party stayed the night with us the night before the wedding after we had the rehearsal and we had a bonfire. The girls got ready down stairs on the day of the wedding and the guys stayed upstairs . It also has a large kitchen which we put into good use! Haha
So all in all, if I could give them SIX stars, I would. :)
This place is absolutely gorgeous. The barn and the house both are just so cozy. They are super flexible about vendors and how you want your big day to go. Tara is super laid back and has tons of good ideas without being in your face about it. It rained on our wedding day and they handled it like champs. I seriously cannot have imagined my wedding day anywhere else!
I truly cannot express enough how thankful I am that I found The Journey Home for my wedding! Not only is the house, barn, and property absolutely STUNNING, but Tara, the general manager, is so kind, responsive, and helpful throughout planning and during week-of arrangements! The house has 24 beds, and we opted to stay the entire weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) and had the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception all in the same gorgeous place! It allowed us to have the most carefree, fun weekend imaginable, and I truly don't believe we could have gotten that anywhere else. In addition, the venue is spectacular in the fall!! We were lucky enough to have all of the trees in full bloom and 70 degree weather at the end of October. We had the perfect, perfect day, we could not have been happier :)
from the moment we pulled up to The Journey Home I knew this was where we were getting married. The venue was absolutely the most stunning barn + house combo I’ve ever seen! Although the barn was freezing (and 10 heaters weren’t enough to keep it warm 🥶) we received SO MANY compliments. Tara was an absolute joy to work with. Any question or request I had, she was sure to answer me quickly and thoroughly. She was so helpful through the whole process, readily recommending other vendors and making suggestions that were perfect. The venue provided tables, chairs, chandeliers, some lighting, and tent walls for the barn. They also wrapped the barn to try and keep in the heat, which was unexpected! You truly cannot find a better package for your money.
We had the most fabulous wedding weekend at The Journey Home for our daughter’s wedding in October. We rented the house as well as the barn so we could enjoy more time with the family and because it’s a gorgeous venue. I can’t say enough about Tara (the manager) she went above and beyond our expectations to make the whole weekend a success! The house has plenty of space to relax and hang out, it also comes fully stocked with everything you need and it’s beautiful. Thank you for making our daughters wedding day extra special!
This venue was the venue of our dreams! The beautiful scenery, the GORGEOUS barn and the option to stay in the huge house on the property all weekend, no need to look anywhere else! We had an absolute amazing weekend with all of our friends and family! Tara was so accommodating and easy to work with throughout the entire process! I couldn't imagine a more stunning setting to marry my best friend!

The Journey Home was absolutely perfect for our June wedding. Tara was awesome and helped us through every step of planning. Our guests were blown away by how beautiful the property is and we had such a great time staying in the house with our wedding party. There literally could not have been a more perfect place for our wedding!
We loved the Journey Home from the moment we pulled up! Tara was great to work with ( My wife did most of the planning :) We did the weekend stay and I would highly recommend it because it gave us enough time to get everything set up and make sure that nothing was forgot. I would highly recommend the Journey Home to anyone.
We visited a handful of venues before we went to The Journey Home and we knew instantly that this is the place where we wanted to get married! Tara is so amazing to work with and does everything she can to make your dream day come true. I can honestly say it was the least stressful part of our wedding. And not to mention the place is heaven on earth. We loved that we had it for the whole weekend and got to spend it with all the ones we loved. If you are on the fence about it, don't be, choose the Journey Home you won't be disappointed.
My husband and I rented the whole package. The home was beautiful and we were able to have family and friends stay as long as the needed or wanted too for the weekend. The barn was stunning and spacious. Tara was great to work with and easy to contact.
This venue was beautiful and had everything we needed. It was a great price! My groomsman all appreciated having a place to stay.
I loved everything about the Journey Home. It was great to have all of our sites in one place. We rented the venue for the weekend and it allowed a place for our guests to stay-so they didn't have to drive. I would highly recommend especially for the price.
We searched through a lot of different vendors before finding The Journey Home and once we saw it we knew it was perfect. The pictures on the knot do not do it's beauty enough justice. Not only that but the manager Tara is so nice and easy to work with and the venue itself is so accommodating. We did the full weekend package and I could not imagine doing it any other way. The house fit all 24 or so people that we had staying there and truly became like a home for the duration of our stay. We loved the fact that we were able to choose our own vendors and we weren't limited in that way. I would highly recommend using Cindy's rentals and using Scott the bartender. Those were some of the recommendations The Journey Home gave us and we could not have been more pleased. We wanted our wedding outside because of the beautiful landscape The Journey Home has but it was too cold so we ended up having to hold the ceremony in the barn which was just as, if not more beautiful. Overall our wedding weekend was perfect in a large part due to this venue and its staff. We cannot say enough good things about it and know anyone else would love it just as much.
Our weekend spent at The Journey Home was absolutely magical. The country setting was stunning and our entire wedding party (18! plus several significant others) stayed at the house with us. Our family and friends had a blast. The house was the perfect location for small rehearsal dinner and the barn held our 150 wedding guests with plenty of room. The setting was unique romantic- exactly how I dreamed our wedding would be. Tara and Cindy with The Journey Home could not have been more friendly, or accommodating. My husband and I are thrilled that we made the choice to book that venue for the weekend and still enjoy looking back on the beautiful photographs taken there.
I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with to make our wedding day a memorable one. There are a lot of wedding venues in the Kansas City area, but I couldn't be happier that we chose the Journey Home. The property was perfect for accommodating our wedding party and offered the ability to have everyone stay on the property the entire weekend. I recommend the Journey Home to anyone looking for a great value, vintage/rustic but comfortable venue, and wide open spaces.
My wife and could not have had a better wedding experience. We had large amount of immediate family traveling from different states, and this was the perfect place to spend a weekend with everyone. Everything from our rehearsal dinner to our reception was perfect. Wouldn't have done it anywhere else.
Our experience with the Journey Home was amazing. From the moment we saw the place we knew it was the place that our new life together would start. The staff was wonderful and helped us in every aspect of planning. The guidance we received was from amazing people who knew how to make everything perfect on our special day.
Cindy and Tara were amazing. We highly recommend this place to everyone looking to have the best wedding experience.
After a 4-month engagement, I married the man I had been waiting for, for over 42 years! Because I never thought I would be blessed by getting married, I had never planned a wedding or thought about any of my desires for a wedding. However, the moment we stepped onto the Journey Home, we both knew this was the place!
When we booked our wedding, the staff was on top of all of our needs. We immediately started planning the event. Within 2 hours we had the date and all the decorating plans completed.
We booked the entire weekend in order to decorate and have our family and friends surrounding us during our special weekend. This extra time allowed us to enjoy every moment of our wedding, from setting up to spending time with our guests... especially those who had come from far away and the ability to stay in the home really brought us all together.
The day was the most perfect day anyone could have asked for. The grounds were perfectly manicured and the sunset was perfect. The barn was so beautifully decorated and it was enchanting to even walk into it.
From the moment we booked our wedding to well after our wedding, the Journey home managed every detail to our complete satisfaction. They still check in on us and we count them as our family. We were so very blessed to find this place... it made the day I never thought would happen be the day of my dreams.
The Journey Home was a fantastic venue for a wedding. Not only was the house amazing, but the barn provided that rustic elegance we wanted. The staff was great to work with, even when we needed extra protection in the storm. Thank you Journey Home for a wonderful evening!
We got married at The Journey Home on 10/14/17. We rented the property from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. We had an amazing weekend with our families and I honestly believe it wouldn't have been near as wonderful if we hadn't been at The Journey Home. We live in KC and both of our families live out of state so they have limited time to see one another. The Journey Home provided a place for our families to truly come together, spend time with one another and genuinely unite two families together as one. We had our entire bridal party, plus our siblings stay the whole weekend at the house, this made getting ready less stressful and allowed more quality and fun time together. We got to enjoy two wonderful breakfasts at the house with our closest family and friends and a BEAUTIFUL rehearsal dinner night. The entire property is kept up so well from the bedrooms, to the barn, to the lawn! The day of the wedding, it rained all day, causing our ceremony to be in the barn, but this allowed for such an intimate, romantic setting, with the soft sound of rain on the roof through the ceremony! Tara, the general manager, was so helpful through the whole process! She allowed me to text her at any time during the planning process and would respond quickly, ready to help with whatever I needed. She was also there to help us get settled when we arrived and then came and helped the day of the wedding as well. She even helped resolve a couple concerns with a guest and a vendor during the reception that I didn't even know about, allowing me to continue enjoying the evening without worries! I would HIGHLY recommend The Journey Home!
My son got married here and it was wonderful. It was so nice to have everything in one place. The house was great and. The barn was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was very helpful and very knowledgeable.
My now husband and I searched all over for the perfect venue. We were so happy when we found The Journey Home. It made it so convenient to have the venue the whole weekend and to be able to hang out with family and friends in one location. The house and barn are so beautiful and the scenery outside for our ceremony was breathtaking. Tara was wonderful to work with and the staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend The Journey Home!!
My wife and I really wanted a rustic wedding and she picked The Journey Home as our wedding and rehearsal location. It was great being able to get to the venue on Friday and start getting things set up then being able to enjoy time with family and friends over the whole weekend. The employees were very friendly and are there if you have any questions. The location is very nice and I thought the barn was perfect for reception. I would recommend couples looking for wedding venues to check out The Journey Home!
When my husband and I were looking for a venue, we didn't expect to find one as beautiful as the Journey Home! We had our ceremony outside and the reception in the barn! We honestly did not use any decorations for the ceremony because the scenery spoke for itself! We were able to have a relaxing weekend with family and friends, and Tara and her dad were there for whatever we needed! I remember I needed a hairdryer, and Tara drove up to let me borrow hers! The service was amazing and people that run the property are just kind-hearted and amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better day!
The Journey Home is an awesome place to have a wedding and here are a couple reasons why:
1) Beautiful Place - If you haven't seen the house and barn, go right now! The colonial house is cute and full of character with a porch, a cool staircase, and really has that cozy-house feel, which is great to let loose and be ready for that big day.
2) Very Spacious - Great for big groups. I was able to fit all of our groomsmen, bridesmaids, plus both families and even a few of our friends all under one roof. There was plenty of beds and even a big enough kitchen to make breakfast for us all.
3) Cool Barn - It's an old tobacco barn which offers such a cool feel and can easily adapt to any style and provides the perfect atmosphere for a party. We were able to hipster-up the place with big edison light bulbs and all the guests loved it!
4) Great Service - The service they offer is unbeatable. The day before my wedding there was a rainstorm which means tons of wind and water...everywhere. The next morning the tables and floor were all wet but the manager was so quick to fix everything, she was out there bright and early and before we knew it everything was running beautifully again.
Overall, it was so worth it.
Warning : if you see it, you will probably Love it!
My now husband and I rented the complete venue package at The Journey Home (House and Barn) for our wedding weekend. The house is beautiful with great amenities. Our entire wedding party plus a few friends stayed in the house the night before and having a kitchen the next morning made breakfast with so many people run very smoothly. The manager was a great help, very sweet, and always one step ahead. I felt she was totally in control which took a lot of stress off of the wedding day and days leading up to it. On the day of our wedding in ended up raining but The Journey Home team was great and made sure that plastic was up on the outside of the barn to keep rain and wind out. The day couldn't have been anymore perfect! I want to thank them for their assistance to make our day run smoothly. I would highly suggest this venue to any couple looking in the MO and KS areas for wedding venues.
Perfect wedding venue!! Staff was so helpful through all the planning and the big day! Can't say enough good things about The Journey Home.
My wife and I got married at The Journey Home in June 2016. It was such a memorable and enjoyable weekend. Cindy was so generous and really made the experience amazing. We loved how it was up in the country with beautiful views. We are so happy we chose The Journey Home and would recommend it to anyone.
My husband and I got married at The Journey Home over a year ago. It was the perfect wedding weekend. The outdoor ceremony had a breathtaking view and the barn was rustic and charming. The staff was so nice and helpful. We are so happy we chose The Journey Home for our big day!
Cindy, Tara, and staff were so amazing for our wedding weekend we can not thank them enough! From initially helping us make seating charts and thinking of details we never thought of, to helping the day before when wrong tables were delivered, to checking in the day of and helping in whatever we needed. They were so kind and wonderful to work with. We love being able to have all our family and bridal party be able to stay in one place for the entire weekend! the Journey Home was the perfect venue for our dream wedding.
We didn't end up using The Journey Home due to a death in the family, but the experience we did have with this venue left a displeasing taste in our mouth and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
First, when I mentioned to the manager, over 3 months ahead of our wedding date, that we wouldn't be able to use their venue anymore because of a death in the family and we wanted to have our ceremony at a place more meaningful to the family we didn't receive much sympathy. She kept trying for us to still use their venue, even though I told her time and time again the difficulty of the situation. We were then told that we would have to find someone else to take our place that weekend, or we would still have to pay for a venue we wouldn't be using. They made ONE advertisement to the public for the open weekend which I don't believe showed that they cared to find someone new to book it.
I wasn't contacted to pay the remaining balance until 2 months after our wedding date. This was after I had sent multiple emails that wen't without reply.
This company doesn't care about the wedding or making the family feel at home, all they care about is making money and they made that very obvious to us. I tell everyone about this experience.
The Journey Home is an amazing venue. It's beautiful and different. We made so many memories Friday-Sunday. It was great to be at one location the whole weekend. The land, house, and barn make for beautiful pictures to look back on! Cindy is great to work with and goes above and beyond in her position! I would recommend The Journey Home to any engaged couple !
The Journey Home was the perfect place for our wedding weekend a couple weeks ago. Cindy was very helpful during the entire process and worked very hard to make sure everything was in order for our wedding day. The ability to have the venue the whole weekend and allow our friends and family to stay really reduced our stress levels and gave us more time to be with those important to us. Most of my family came from 2.5 hours away and my best man flew in from Honolulu and the amenities offered made the trip for all very easy and almost vacation like. The house is has great pre-1900s looks and photographs very well and the barn....it's amazing! The same pre-1900s look, but this tobacco barn can show elegance. It has been modernized with a concrete floor, restrooms and a covered patio to give you a barn wedding with modern amenities. Cindy does an excellent job decorating the barn and gives many options (or you can do it yourself). I highly recommend this venue for your wedding or even your next retreat.
We got married at The Journey Home earlier this month. We stayed on site for the whole weekend with our wedding party. Having the house allowed us to use the kitchen for our rehearsal dinner taco bar, enjoy the fire pit, and provided a comfortable place for our wedding party to get ready. The barn is spacious and beautiful on its own, but was taken to another level with Cindy's decorations. The property is immaculate. Cindy was fabulous to work with. She is super sweet, helpful (met with me on numerous occasions, coordinated rentals, parking attendants, set-up, and answered my endless questions), and worked so hard to make our day perfect. I would recommend The Journey Home to anyone looking for a unique, rustic, but elegant venue.
I recently got married this year in May. The journey home was perfect for our family. We did the three day package. It worked so well since we have two children under the age of two. They even provided a pack and play for our son to sleep in. Cindy is a nice lady to work with. She called several times checking on us and the new baby. She really was so helpful in this whole process. I would recommend their services.
I recently got married this year in May. We searched high and low for our perfect venue. After going and meeting with several people we fell absolutely in LOVE with the journey home. It's beauty of the old fashioned home mixed with modern decor made it the perfect place to say I DO. We did the three day package. It worked so well since we have two children under the age of two. They even provided a pack and play for my son to sleep in. Cindy is amazing to work with. She called several times and always was so warm and welcoming she was like family to my family. She really was a blessing in this whole process. I had a wedding decorated and she would even meet and chat with her since I was busy with the new baby to make sure my dream was turned into a reality. We made so many memories that will last a lifetime. I would highly recommend their services and definitely go with the three day stay. Thank you Cindy and the Journey home for everything!
My daughter's wedding was absolutely beautiful! It was her dream wedding! Everything is perfect!!!! Cindy is wonderful too!!!
I have to say I'm so grateful for all the positive reviews on this site about The Journey Home. Because of them I dragged my then finance and mother to see it. After checking out a few other similar venues there was no doubt in our minds this was the perfect place for our special day. There is no better value in the KC area for the price and the venue is the most flexible you can find. And as for beauty...well let's just say is I hope to someday hang out with family and friends again at The Journey Home...it truly felt like a family home.
The Journey Home was awesome. My wife and I looked at a few different venues, but the Journey Home stood out for many reasons. For one, it was awesome to be able to set up camp at the venue and stay there with the entire wedding party for the entire weekend. The overnight option made it easy to coordinate details and, more importantly, have fun with our friends. Another reason The Journey Home stood out was that it is gorgeous but not over-the-top. We got a ton of compliments that our venue was beautiful and that it really incorporated the outdoors, which was one of our goals. Some even said it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to, and some of the pictures are just breathtaking. Finally, the Journey Home stood out because Cindy was there to help with many important details, operating as a de facto day-of coordinator. She definitely helped to cut down on our stress before and during the ceremony and reception. I would recommend this venue to anyone!
Wow- I cannot begin to describe how incredible and perfect The Journey Home is for a wedding venue. As I began the venue search, I looked at a few venues downtown, large ballrooms, and The Journey Home (TJH). Although all the venues I looked at were beautiful, nothing compared to TJH. Not only is the venue gorgeous with the miles of corn fields, large white rustic barn, and historic mansion- but the atmosphere that Cindy and the rest of the staff provides is laid back and welcoming. My now husband and I were looking for a 'rustic, casual elegant' wedding. We wanted the rustic charm mixed with chandeliers - but more importantly, we wanted a venue that portrayed who we were as a couple- and we found exactly that in TJH. We rented the venue for the entire weekend and had our rehearsal dinner on the front lawn and then got married outside and a reception in the barn the next night. One of my favorite parts of the weekend was each evening. Each night, our bridal parties stayed at the mansion and it truly felt like a getaway weekend. If I had the whole process to do again, I would not change my venue. The Journey Home was incredible and everything we hoped for in a wedding venue- and all of our guests LOVED it! Big thank you to Cindy and TJH for giving us the wedding we always hoped for!
Absolutely fantastic venue! Cindy goes above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Will definitely be using the Journey home for more events.
The Journey Home was a beautiful site for the wedding of our daughter at the end of May. Our event followed a week of solid rain- even the Friday evening before was a downpour. It was hard to imagine that a ceremony outside on Saturday would be possible. The day turned out gorgeous and thanks to the efforts of many, it all came together to be exactly what we had hope the day would be. Cindy was incredibly helpful and works so hard. She was available to answer any questions throughout the wedding process, she was physically available helping us with water issues and making sure everything went the way we expected. It was a magical weekend!
We found The Journey Home randomly online and decided to get in the car and drive out to meet Cindy and see what it was all about. The second we stepped out of the car, we knew we had found the place where we were going to get married. The venue was perfect for our two families to get away for the weekend and enjoy the peaceful outdoor setting. The ceremony itself was unreal and the reception was just an absolute dream. The beautiful historical barn set against green lawn and cornfields with an open blue sky...it was just altogether magical and it would not have been possible without the amazingly patient Cindy Hopkins. She was so encouraging, helpful and supportive throughout the entire planning process. This place was everything and more!
