The Kodiak Room is a gorgeous historical wedding venue based in Tenino, WA. Located about a twenty-minute drive from Olympia, this beautiful event space is conveniently situated between Seattle and Portland.
Owner Jade Johnson has always been passionate about hosting events for loved ones. Now, Jade brings this passion to those looking to make lifelong memories at The Kodiak Room. Built over a century ago, this stunning sandstone building provides a rustic setting for your wedding celebrations. This bright, open space is adorned with chandeliers, string lights, and a beautiful curtain wall backdrop to create a soft, romantic vibe all its own. The neutral colors create a blank canvas that can be adapted into any wedding style, from bright and colorful to modern and minimalistic.
Before the festivities begin, you and your wedding party can relax and get ready in the fully renovated bridal suite and groom's suite. With tables and chairs for up to 200 people, The Kodiak Room can accommodate weddings of all sizes. During the reception, couples and guests can enjoy a meal from their preferred caterer, while drinks can be served from the uniquely handmade bar. With a long list of amenities to offer its couples, The Kodiak Room leaves no stone unturned. Couples can enjoy both day-of and full weekend packages, allowing you to spend a few extra days with everyone on your guest list. after party (wedding offsite at a different venue based on outdoor preference). This site was very spacious for our 50-person rehearsal dinner, has INCREDIBLE bride/groom getting ready spaces, and was even great for our ~80-100 person after party. It provided us an excellent hub for our wedding weekend.
As I reflect on my wedding day at the Kodiak Room, I can’t help but to be disappointed with the venue and service.
To start of the morning, we were, as promised and even confirme...
d on a email a few days before the day, to meet an employee at the door at 8am. No one showed. Instead, the cleaning lady was inside cleaning. She came to the door a little after 8am and asked if she could help us. I said yeah my wedding is today and we have this place booked. She said she had no idea and wasn’t finished cleaning. She proceeded to let us in and she was right, she was
no where near done cleaning. This should not
have happened and per what we booked, it was supposed to be ready at 8am along with someone meeting us. Once she left, there were still beer bottle caps left in random places and a bottle of bleach opened in the bathroom.
As we were setting up, we realized 3/20 promised round tables were broken. What if we needed those?
Also ,as promised and advertised , was a brand new heating a cooling system. This was important to us as we had many children and older people and it was a hot day. This very well could have been a deal breaker for us in booking it in the first place. Instead, there were 2 big bulky air conditioners and one leaked all over the floor where my guests were going to sit. Finally, your assistant came, didn’t apologize for anything that had gone on so far, like
not meeting us?
She emptied the grooms room air thing and while doing so left water all up and down the stairs. She had someone come check on the air conditioner and once he did, said not to run it since something was wrong, leaving us with one air conditioner.
There was a huge hole on the brides room where the door handle sits by the door. The add on garbage service we paid for wasn’t possible because the dumpster was completely full. We had to leave all the trash sitting by the dumpster.
It is a beautiful venue and I’m upset and dissatisfied with how what we couldn’t control and put the trust in our venue to do ,went.
We sent a email about all of this to the owner as well as texting her and the assistant day of as this was all happening .It has been 4 days since our wedding and have not heard a single word from anyone.

They did some last-minute updates to the property prior to our wedding to ensure that the venue looked gorgeous for our event. Also when the kegerator ran out of CO2, Jade was able to come back immediately with a new bottle of CO2 for our event and let us change it before our wedding started.
I recommend the Kodiak Room to all my friends for event pace rental!
