Do not let them scam you, stay far away from any Walters wedding venues.

o avoid the level of stress and heartache we are currently facing. We booked The Laiken in November 2024, while it was still under construction. At that time, it was being promoted as opening in Spring 2025. When that season arrived, the venue was still unfinished—and Walters Wedding Estates cancelled all Spring 2025 weddings, in some cases just two months before the scheduled dates. We were never directly informed of this delay. We only learned about it through our own professional network, as we also work in the wedding industry. After learning about the situation, I reached out to my assigned planner, who redirected me to the Regional VP. After receiving only surface-level answers, I followed up the same day with more questions—none of which were answered for 30 days. On day 31, a new Regional VP contacted me to inform me that both my planner and the previous VP were no longer with the company. We met on June 27th, where I requested written assurances that: We would be notified promptly of any future construction delays, and We could be released from our contract if the venue was not ready at least six months prior to our November 2026 wedding date. The Regional VP agreed and said their legal team would send documentation the following week. This never happened. When I followed up, I learned that he, too, was no longer with the company. By August 2025, I had yet another new planner, who connected me with the District Operations Manager (DOM). He informed me that the venue’s opening date had again been pushed from October 2025 to January 2026. During that conversation, he assured me that construction was “on track” and promised transparent communication. When I again asked for the assurances in writing, I was told this wasn’t possible because our contract was a “construction contract”—despite the fact that our paperwork is the same standard event contract used for all Walters venues. In October 2025, I reached out to schedule a logistics meeting, only to learn my new planner had already left the company. The next assigned planner arranged a meeting with us, during which we discovered yet another delay—the opening had been moved to March 2026. This was never communicated to us; we only learned about it because we initiated the meeting ourselves. After escalating the issue once more, we were connected with yet another new Regional VP, who initially agreed that the written assurances we requested were reasonable and said she would speak with her superiors. However, when I followed up today, her tone and stance completely changed. I was repeatedly spoken over and told that what I was asking for “legally could not be put in writing”—which is inaccurate, but apparently the stance they’ve decided to take. Despite six different staff turnovers and three separate rejections of our reasonable requests, we are still being told to trust a “verbal confirmation” that the venue will open in March 2026. As both a 2026 bride and a wedding industry professional, I deeply regret booking with Walters Wedding Estates and The Laiken. The lack of transparency, accountability, and consistency has been incredibly disappointing.

The way the planned buildings will integrate with the Hill Country landscape is just beautiful – like a work of art. The light, the textures – it has this cool, artsy, yet sophisticated feel. The architects really knew what they were doing. And the indoor-outdoor flow is going to be fantastic. They're not just putting in big windows; they're designing it so the gorgeous interiors and that epic Lake Travis view feel completely connected. It’s going to create such a seamless and wonderful experience for everyone. It's more than just a pretty backdrop; it's a core part of the venue's charm. I left with so many ideas buzzing in my head. This place feels like a perfect canvas for a wedding that’s truly us – not just a standard package. It has an exclusive, almost private estate feel. Imagine those stunning ceremony photos and then relaxed, happy conversations under the stars. It’s going to be amazing. 🔥 The passion behind the project is clear, and this place is going to be a favorite, for sure. We feel so lucky to have discovered this gem!

l do whatever it takes to convince you and when they do cancel, they will not refund you unless you sign an NDA. any company that does this knows they are wrong and has dark things to hide. they are not certified by the better business bureau for good reason. For your own good, stay away!

The venue’s natural beauty, with the sunset over the water, is going to create the most romantic backdrop imaginable. I know they have had some construction delays and weddings had to be moved, but I am sticking with them because this is going to be worth the wait! The Laiken team was very communicative and transparent, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, there were delays outside of their control (town/city related).

therwise. I say this as someone who booked with The Laiken in May of 2024 for a September 2025 wedding. I had just gotten engaged and was so excited to begin the process and secure a venue. Like many others, I fell in love with the "rendering” of the property and the promise of it being ready by Spring. We were told by the sales coordinator not to worry about the construction because they had multiple weddings booked for April, so it had to be completed before then. There is no way I would have booked if they had not given this reassurance. Fast forward 9 months to February. I thought it was suspicious that during all this time we’ve received zero updates on the progress of the construction. We drove by in December and noticed little to no improvement from what we saw 6 months before. It’s basically still a pile of dirt aside from the "villas" which have nothing to do with the wedding property. When I called Walters Wedding Estates main line after not receiving answers from our personal coordinator, they informed that all weddings up to June 2025 are now cancelled. This was news to me. When I voiced concerns, they refused to provide a refund since they are now claiming “the property should be ready in August”... this information wasn't shared until I forced the issue. For obvious reasons, I no longer believe anything they say and cannot run the risk of it being cancelled just months before our wedding in September. This company is predatory and has completely shattered the vision I had of my wedding experience, along with many other brides. I wish I had known then what I do now.

One aspect that particularly excited us was the opportunity to be involved with this new project of construction. Knowing that our wedding would be a part of something fresh and innovative added an extra layer of excitement to our decision. We feel privileged to contribute to the venue's journey and create lasting memories within its walls. In conclusion, our choice of the Laiken Resort was driven by more than just its physical attributes. It was the seamless communication, the stunning aesthetics, and the prospect of being part of something special that truly won us over. We are eagerly anticipating the day when we say "I do".
