Don't book here. This woman is very deceitful. She will take your money, ruin your wedding day, and leave you apologizing to your guests for her incredibly offensive remarks, inste...
ad of enjoying your wedding and honeymoon.
I paid for her complete package and when we arrived the decorations and equipment were not set up and the lack of preparedness was very obvious. There were several things promised at our meetings prior to the event date that were not held up on the owners end.
The Owner told my father we were not to start without her, that she would be leading the ceremony and giving us the cue to start the music and walk down the aisle, but she disappeared. We searched for her for over 20 minutes. My sisters left their seats to direct the ceremony while my guests were waiting in the extreme heat. In addition, the water misters were not on during the ceremony. I know the weather is out of people's control but we were promised they would be on!
One of the main reasons for booking this venue was that I wanted real plates and silverware which was promised at our meetings, not to mention, advertised all over the website. I was adamant that I did not want paper plates and plastic silverware and that was exactly what was provided to my guests. It was at the owners suggestion that we should serve buffet style and plates were to be set on the serving table while silverware and napkins would be at the individual place settings. I cannot even begin to express how extremely disappointed I was to see my guests eating on paper plates. This woman is very misleading in her promises! I made a special trip to talk specifically about table settings and center pieces. It was discussed at this meeting that we would have 12 centerpieces with flowers from her vendor and what we got was what appeared to be flowers hastily and unprofessionally slapped together from her garden.
I also noticed that the water pitchers on the tables sat empty most of the time. The staff gave up on serving the guests and sat inside eating our food- which my husband and I didn't get any of! They were eating it right form the serving dishes our caterers were prepping on. These were not women as she had said they would be, they were very young girls who were not old enough to legally work, let alone have food handlers permits.
I sent help into the kitchen to see what was going on and they were abruptly sent away.
When the owner did resurface her remarks to myself and my guests were very repugnant.
She said in several of our meetings that she would put the help on kid duty, and provide a ball for the kids to play with in the orchard, I saw nothing of the sorts. I discussed with her that there would be several children and I also mentioned that I had an autistic niece whom I later found her scolding and tries to explain to her that my niece didn't understand, she got loud and out of line with me!
I heard several of my guests comment on how impolite the owner was and many of my guests and family members stated that she had made rude comments to them, they felt unwelcome and couldn't wait to get away. My mother in law, a hard working nurse who has no enemies said that is the coldest woman she has ever met.
I understand that no wedding is perfect and there are always hiccups, but I really felt like this woman scammed my parents and I, and the thoughts of what should have been the happiest day of my life are tainted with her lies and deceit.
Don't book here!!!
Many of my guests had never heard of The Lavender House or been there, but they were very impressed with it. People kept commenting on how beautiful the gardens were, complimenting...
our taste in choosing that location, and asking how we found it.
The owners, Scott & Peggy, were also a joy to work with--they're very hospitable and you can tell they love holding events at their place. Though there is limited seating, they use the space very well. They also are reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend The Lavender House to others.
I was married May 2nd, 2014 at the Lavender House in Bear River. Peggy and Scott (who turned out to be a previous math teacher of mine-still waiting on the chinese acrobat story!) ...
were both welcoming and wonderful. There was a bit of mis-communication, and even after advising them of where I would like the girls to set up the food, the food was still in the wrong place. It wasn't a big deal at all, but I would have liked food out before the ceremony had ended for my guests.
The venue is beautiful, and both Peggy and Scott are wonderful people. Peggy did the centerpieces and they were absolutely lovely. They were both very helpful, Scott directed the girls down the aisle, and they both offered to pick up whatever we needed on the trip into town.
The venue includes almost everything. The only things we needed to provide were the music and food, plus the extras like the guest book and the flowers for the wedding party. Peggy went the extra mile in making sure everything was in bloom and that the tables, chairs, and porch was free of debris for the event.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. It has a warm, southern home feel about the property, and is just the most beautiful place. I could not have asked for a better property to have had my wedding at.
I know Bear River City is in the middle of no where, but believe me when I tell you this place is a hidden gem!! Peggy & Scott do intimate garden weddings, receptions & lun...
cheons at their home for up to 100 people and if it rains, they have an awning! Their property has a timeless feel to it and is accentuated by the baskets & glass/silverware they use. (It's very nice, they don't use paper/plastic products to eat with). They have string lights around the property to add that romantic glo when the sun goes down. Very nice for dancing under the stars!! They're very reasonably priced and very helpful with anything you need! I would recommend them to anyone having a small intimate wedding and who appreciate a beautiful/serene setting with nature all around them.
