Based in Washington, DC, The Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum is a captivating and unique wedding venue. It has two buildings, including a historic synagogue dating back to 1876 and its modern counterpart. As of June 2023, the Museum can be found in the heart of the Capitol Crossings neighborhood, close to the original home of the synagogue. This 32,500 square-foot venue blends the past with the present for an unforgettable backdrop for tying the knot with the one you love.
The Museum's versatile spaces accommodate small and intimate occasions, grand-scale weddings, and everything in between. Its interior has been restored and renovated while keeping its historic sanctuary's authenticity. The Cafritz Hall is one of the many flexible spaces, perfect for receptions of up to 150 guests. In the synagogue itself, you will find a traditionally elegant space that can host the most stunning ceremonies. The Morse-Loeb Museum Lobby is a modernized space with a soaring ceiling and stylish finishes. You can finish the evening on the terrace, celebrating with close family and friends.
The Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum has an expert team of event professionals who will ensure a seamless experience from the initial consultation to the final dance. Their rental package includes tables, chairs, and a dedicated museum event coordinator. Caterers can use the well-furnished kitchen, which includes a food prep table, commercial refrigerator, ice maker, and sink. Couples can contact the event team to start planning the wedding of their dreams.

- Rachel QuinnEvent AssociateHey there! I am the event associate here at the museum. I have been a part of the rentals team going on two years now. Before that, I gained experience working in various museum roles for 5 years. My goal is to ensure your event runs smoothly behind the scenes so you and your guests can make history while celebrating among history!
- Michelle GleatonLead Event CoordinatorHi! I've been planning events for over 15 years all over the world - from California to Germany. When I'm not making couples' dreams come true I love running, hiking, and exploring the DMV. My happy place is at a restaurant I haven't tried before with a drink in hand. I live in NoVa with my husband, two daughters and two cats. Come say hi!

de the planning process smooth and stress-free.
Our wedding was relatively simple with about 30 guests. We held the ceremony on the terrace and had lunch in the Community Action Lab. Everything was set up just as we discussed with Michelle in advance. On the day of the event, both Michelle and a helpful museum volunteer were on-site and extremely attentive, even assisting with setting up our chuppah.
We were also given the opportunity to take photos throughout the museum, and the space is stunning—our photos came out beautifully.
I highly recommend the Capital Jewish Museum for your wedding or special event. It’s a unique and beautiful venue with a supportive team behind it.
