So, this wedding was a huge deal, not just for us, but for our families and friends who also experienced our tragic losses, watched us mourn and rebuild, and who were overjoyed that we found each other. Because of COVID, we had to plan this wedding three different times. First in 2020, secondly in 2021, and finally on 05/14/2022. Because we had so long, my now husband and I spent a very long time writing really heartfelt and passionate vows to each other. This was the most important part of the whole evening. Right as soon as our vows started, A VERY LOUD TRAIN PASSED RIGHT BESIDE THE VENUE. We were in shock. No one had warned us about a train. We had no clue this was a thing that we needed to consider. You'd think a responsible venue would have the train schedules and they would warn you to push up or back the ceremony time to avoid that, but no. They got paid and that's all that mattered. They did not care what happened after that. We tried to wait for the train to pass, but it just kept going. So we continued. The train lasted for the entirety of our vows. No one could hear us and we could barely hear each other. After the event, we had to recite our vows to each other just so we could hear what was actually said. It was awful, but crap happens, right? It gets worse. The ceremony ended and we walked to the end of the aisle and our guests followed. We were near the fountain when an older, balding man who was clearly in charge of the venue that night stands on the fountain and gets everyone's attention. We can't even tell you who this person was because we'd never seen him before. I think he thought he was making things better, but he did the opposite. He tried to smooth things over and asked us in front of everyone if we were happy with the place. I was already on the verge of tears because I'd been looking forward to that moment for literal years, but I was keeping it together because we were about to take our photos. Then this guy BRINGS EVEN MORE ATTENTION TO IT and we sheepishly say we're okay, but we hadn't even digested everything that just happened. THEN HE STARTS JOKING TO OUR GUESTS AT OUR EXPENSE! "When you look back at this, it'll be a funny story! Any time you see a train, you'll laugh!" He laughed and some guests nervously reacted. It was so awkward, uncalled for, embarrassing, and stopped everything when we were on a tight schedule. It was bizarre and infuriating. Guess what? We don't laugh when we look back at that moment. People still bring that it up. Maybe it would have been funny if we both hadn't been previously widowed, our guests didn't have to travel from all over the country for that very moment, and people didn't voluntarily get vaccinated just for the event. I would have written this much earlier but I had to have a major surgery not long after. It took many months to get back to normal and, by that point, I just wanted to move on. After being reminded of it AGAIN just now, I felt I needed to warn others. Like I said, things happen and that's fine, but to stop the festivities and do a mini stand-up set at our expense is wild. We could have moved on, but him doing that made it permanent memory for ~70 people. We paid way too much for that unprofessional treatment.

The operations at this venue are ran seamlessly, they pay attention to every detail and the team are genuine partners to the bride and groom. Dave tracked the weather closely and made the call to proceed with an outdoor ceremony—and it was perfect. Andie calmly worked behind the scenes with the in-house and vendor teams to ensure we had a solid “Plan B” in case weather forced a change, but we didn’t need it! Not a drop of rain fell during first-look photos or the vows, and the sun even peeked through the clouds as they said “I do.” Pure magic. We loved how each part of the celebration had its own beautifully designed space: cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing—all thoughtfully laid out and seamlessly executed. The bridal suite and groomsmen’s “man cave” were perfect for getting ready. And at the end of the night, the staff packed up all of our decor and belongings, making cleanup and departure a breeze. From start to finish, everything ran flawlessly. The Mackey House team made the entire day feel stress-free—for us, our daughter and son-in-law, and every guest. They treated everyone with such kindness, care, and love—it truly felt like they were part of our extended family. Thank you, Mackey House, for making our daughter’s wedding dreams come true. We also booked our wedding planner through their preferred vendor list, Andie with Emerald and Ivey Events. She completely exceeded our expectations! She answered all of our questions and made sure everything was to our liking. Her experience is evident, because she was able to handle things before they even became an issue and thought of things we never would have considered. I cannot recommend her and the Mackey house enough! .

I actually booked with The Mackey House before even seeing it in person, I had just seen their website and social media, and when I toured for the first time the venue by far exceeded my expectations. Shelley was so fantastic and welcoming and gave me a tour as well as recommended vendors and answered all of our initial questions. My husband and I then met with Dave, who was our DJ and day of coordinator, and he was absolutely incredible as well! He sat down with us and mapped out our entire day from start to finish answering any additional questions we still had. On the day of Dave's assistant, Denise, was also SO great! She helped the day run so, so smoothly. From every vendor they recommended to everyone at The Mackey House, the whole day was absolutely perfect. I wish I could relive the day over and over again and so much of that is to their credit. Our guests had the best time and really felt the southern elegance that The Mackey House exudes. It was absolutely perfect!

Mackey House one night and instantly fell in love. All of the string lights, the gorgeous white house, the fountains and pond, the tents, the bridal suite/groom's room -- everything was perfect! The amazing staff was an added bonus. Shelley and her team were incredible and so on top of things leading up to our big day. The team there the day of was so attentive and truly cared about making our day so special. They kept everything running smoothly and made sure everyone was having a blast. e. They were so helpful in planning a beautiful wedding from start to finish. We got married on 5/27, which ended up being about 50 degrees and raining - not quite what we expected from a Savannah summer weekend! Shelley and Shavonne were in touch that entire week about creating the perfect rain plan. We ended up moving from the garden to the pavillion, where they set a fire and our guests crowded around for a beautiful, intimate ceremony, and the rest of the night went on as planned! All of their covered spaces had heat/AC and blocked any wind or rain coming through, so it still very much felt like an outdoor wedding. We truly wouldn't have changed a thing and so much of that is due to the creativity of the team.

They have an amazing package that includes venue, bar, catering, DJ, lighting and decorations! It saved me such a headache so I didn't have to get so many vendors. All my guests gawked at the surrounding beauty, and raved about how my wedding was amazing beyond words. my husband and I want to get married there again!!

From my first visit there, I knew it was everything I wanted in a wedding venue, from its long driveway through the trees, to its romantic southern charm. The venue was exactly what I pictured for my wedding day! We had our ceremony on the lawn, dinner in the pavilion, and dancing up on the deck; everything ran great! The Mackey House team were some of the best people I've ever met, they were all so helpful! I definitely recommend having Dave as both your day of coordinator and DJ; he's fantastic and listened to all of my ideas while also offering great recommendations of his own! While you do have to choose from a catering list they provide, Thrive Catering was perfect and everyone absolutely loved the food! The whole day was a dream and everyone put in the work to make my wedding dreams happen! All of my friends and family are still talking about how beautiful and amazing our wedding was! I cannot thank the Mackey House enough!

Our guests came all the way to Savannah from Canada and boy did they think it was worth it once they pulled in. All of our guests were in awe. Shelley and Dave really helped ease any anxieties before the big day and on day of, Dave and Chavon took care of everything and I didn't have a single worry. None of us wanted the night to end!

wn and didn't experience any issues in the planning phase with Mackey House. "Groom" ready room is not as spacious as bridal ready room and seems a bit like an afterthought but functional. Beware that the deck now has a roof (that's not all wood) and plastic siding. Essentially making it a hot box during a warm day. Even though the plastic sides were drawn back, it was still hot and the dance floor is right in the middle of the sun. I'm sure they will add more fans but I'm not sure there's much that can be done with regards to the dance floor. Maybe just remember this if having a wedding during the day time. Thankfully, their on site people were very helpful and attentive. When they were notified that we were hot, they brought fans out for us at the table. Would totally recommend them over and over again.

You must pick from a list of caterers for food; however, the list is amazing and the catering service we chose (Delightful Catering) was sooooooo good! Some may see the price and think it’s not worth it but it absolutely is! I nor my family had to lift a finger on my wedding day, so I think that’s worth paying a little extra!

He controlled the pace of the wedding and reception and did it flawlessly while being very engaging with our guests.
