About this vendor
We’re Julianne and Steve, wedding photographers based in New Jersey. As a photographer team, our shared vision is traveling the East Coast to tell your story. Our perspective is laid back and behind the scenes, with a focus on documentary coverage and fine art portraits that feel natural and honest.
Over the last 17 years, we’ve seen just about everything, from celebrity guests to deeply emotional, once-in-a-lifetime moments. We’re calm and naturally problem solvers , taking pride in quietly handling whatever the day throws our way so our couples can stay present and enjoy it. We’re happiest when we can blend into the background, quietly capturing the small moments that often go unseen – the individual pieces that come together to tell the full story of a wedding day.
We’re available throughout the East Coast, with most of our weddings taking place in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Our team is a safe space for: LGBTQIA+, intercultural/multicultural, accessible, interfaith, and other inclusive unions. We offer full-day coverage with either one or two photographers, as well as elopements, albums, and an optional 35mm film photography add-on.
We’d love to chat with you, hear your story, and see if we’re the right fit for your day.

We LOVED working with Julianne and Steve for our wedding - 10/10! We chose them after a good friend worked with them for their wedding, and from being in that party and seeing the ...
care and calm they brought to the day, and the gorgeous images, we were in. The Markows are such kind and lovely people, and they bring tranquility and you-got-this energy to a day full of big emotions. They capture the scenes and the light, yes. They brought us those pictures of smiling guests and laughing guests and dancing guests and moments we cherish that we couldn't see on the day of because the couple can't be everywhere. Whether indoors or outdoors, black tie or cocktail, your wedding will be better if the Markows are photographing it!
The Markows are the BEST Photography team to work with! My husband and I interviewed about 7 photographers for our Wedding but the second we spoke to Steve & Julianne we wanted to ...
work with them. They have the best vibe and make you feel so comfortable. We did our engagement shoot with them as well as a full day for our Wedding. They are so professional and really how to get the best shots. They helped me stay cool and calm throughout the day while being extrmeley organized and getting all the photos we requested. We absolutely loved working with them and cannot recommend them enough.
Hire them. Do it. Incredibly talented, creative and worked seamlessly with all our other vendors. They are amazing to work with both before and during the wedding. You’re going to ...
spend a lot of time with your photographers on your wedding day and the Markows are the people you want to spend it with. I really wish I was better with words because I’m not even close to describing how amazing they really were. THANK YOU!!
Multiple years before I got engaged, my hairstylist got married, and she told me that her friends photographed the wedding. Her photos were so stunning, so I found these friends, J...
ulianne and
Steve Markow, on instagram and followed them. Over the years, I was consistently stunned by their photos and it became something of a dream for me to book them for my own wedding. Once we picked a date, we found out it was one of the most popular dates of the year (10/10/20 - before COVID hit anyway) and I was so sure that The Markows would be booked already, but I reached out anyway. When I found out they were available I was so pleased and we booked asap. Of course my photos are everything I've ever dreamed of and more, but beyond that I've seen that Julianne and Steve are just some of the loveliest people. I never once felt awkward or uncomfortable that they were around - and neither did my husband, who normally can't stand having photos taken of himself! We also had so much contact with them leading up to the wedding making sure that we were all on the same page with COVID-19 guidelines and planning our family portraits and timeline. They even reached out to us about a healthcare worker discount on an album, which is so touching because planning a wedding during a pandemic is stressful enough without adding fighting that same pandemic for 40 hours a week on top of it. Their work speaks for itself, but what you don't see on the instagram posts is that they're amazing people who really want what's best for you and your wedding. Book them please, you'll have amazing photos (and they even sell beautiful prints!!) for the rest of your life. We'll totally be booking them for any photography needs we have in the future!!
Julianne and Steve captured the moments of our wedding day more beautifully than I ever could have hoped for. It was terrific to have them for ten hours, from getting all dolled up...
and ready to the end of the party. They kept everything on schedule for our many family portraits and their laid back temperaments kept us relaxed on our big day. The Markows found a variety of beautiful backdrops at our venue for our first look, bride and groom portraits, family portraits, and sunset photos that were a quiet and relaxing yet exciting break as husband and wife from the bustle of our reception. The Markows excel at capturing everything as it happens, so the only shot list we worked with was the one for our family portraits; they took care of everything for our photos. I have some self-esteem issues and was worried about not liking how I’d look in my wedding photos, but I had nothing to worry about with the Markows, and I love having these beautiful photos that capture our day to cherish for years to come.
I’m convinced we found THE BEST photographers in the business. They don’t take your typical cookie cutter pics but instead are incredibly creative and provide a documentary of you...
r day. They provide pictures that will make you go wow and capture your personality. You will have a hard time picking which pictures you want to display. They also are incredibly kind and calm during your day. They are open to your ideas and truly care about providing you with incredible photos and service.
Julianne and Steve were absolutely incredible to work with. We found them by googling our wedding venue and saw a previous album they did, which we fell in love with instantly. Th...
ere were so laid back and made us feel comfortable all day. Both my husband and I are really awkward in front of cameras but they made it so easy. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone!!!
First - we would like to apologize for how late we are with this review because Julianne and Steve did an amazing job. The Markows were one of the first vendors we booked. I don’t ...
think we even had our venue picked out yet, but we were sold as soon as we saw their work online. Our engagement photos and wedding photos are truly incredible and Julianne and Steve were so awesome to work with. I am usually very self-conscious in front of a camera, but these two really have a way of making you feel comfortable in your own skin. We still can’t get over how perfect our wedding photos turned out - we’re having a VERY difficult time picking out our favorites. The Markows really captured every important moment and emotion that we went through on our wedding day and every time we look at our photos we get to relive all of it. We can’t thank them enough for that. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!
I don’t even know where to begin with Julianne & Steve. They are not only some of the coolest/chillest people, they are also some of the most talented. I mean, just check out their...
Instagram and it will blow your mind. I was a very hands on bride, but with them, I trusted them & let them do their thing, and boy did it pay off. They somehow can make any setting beautiful, as well as have their couples look like models (and not super awkward which is what I was originally worried about). It’s obvious that they genuinely love what they do, which clearly comes through in their portfolio & work that they create. They were by far one of our most talented vendors that we worked with, and we can’t recommend them to enough people.
I can guarantee you one thing: you will NOT be disappointed.
The Markows outdid themselves in every way! We are so happy to have had the opportunity to work with such kind and talented people.

otographer for our wedding. We were having a later than usual (8pm) outdoor wedding ceremony and were worried about the lighting in our photos. After our first phone call with Steve... we were pretty much sold. He just made us feel so comfortable and excited. He didn't seem concerned at all about our lighting "issues." We just knew we were in good hands.
The Markows are just ridiculously good at what they do. Our photos are incredible- no blown out flash photography, artistic (but not overly so), really sweet and emotional photos. We pretty much got everything that we wanted and more. Apart from the photos, they were just really wonderful to work with. Obviously, planning a wedding is a lot of work. Things get stressful and overwhelming and crazy, etc. It was really great to have such a helpful, reliable and experienced team in our corner. We absolutely loved working with them.
Thank you, Julianne and Steve! <3
I could not be happier that I chose to work with the Markows and that they were able to make our day so special. They did our engagement photos as well as our wedding - and they we...
re a dream to work with. Professional, courteous and unbelievably talented. Every photo was fantastic and nothing ever felt forced or that it was awkward. They took incredible portraits at our wedding in the beginning and then captured every aspect of the evening without being intrusive or interrupting anyone's evening. They are phenomenal and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
The Markows were hands down the best decision we ever made for our wedding! After admiring their incredible work they had done for a previous wedding at our venue, I was already ob...
sessed! Then talking to them sealed the deal. They are SO genuine & truly excited for your wedding, and made me feel so at ease through the entire process. Knowing my husband is less than keen on taking pictures, it was important to find someone who would be taking more candid pictures & documenting a story of our day unfolding. And they NAILED it. Julianne & Steve made us feel so comfortable the entire day, and took so many unbelievable pictures that we didn't even know they captured! Our guests commented on how great they were, and most importantly non-invaise. Somehow they managed to get the most insane pictures and we didn't even realize they were there! This is truly a gift and we will treasure these pictures for the rest of our lives. We are absolutely OBSESSED with every single picture they took and the images took us right back to our perfect wedding day. The blog post they did on our wedding was beautiful and told the story of how our day unfolded perfectly. I really could go on and on about this amazing couple- check out their work as it speaks for itself! Book them!!!!!
The Markows are simply incredible. My wife and I spent a lot of time planning our perfect wedding, but when it came to choosing our photographers, we were settled in seconds. The...
ir work speaks for itself, but what you don't see online is how fun, easy to work with, and adaptive they are. Our ceremony took place near a waterfall, and my wife and I (and our officiant) stood across the stream from the guests. The Markows had no reservations about trudging through the frigid water with us, and the photos that resulted from that were unbelievable. After the ceremony we took some of our portraits IN the waterfall, and yes, they were right there with us, soaking wet, creating amazing images that we will cherish forever. They absolutely go the extra mile to achieve the best possible results.
We have heard countless recollections from our guests about how awesome The Markows were. Everyone was amazed at how unobtrusive they were the whole time while still being able to get beautiful photos - not just of us, but of everyone at the wedding. They fit in great with our friends and family and made it easy for everyone to be in front of the camera.
What a lot of couples overlook is that you will be with your photographers ALLLL day. There are no other people we would have rather been with that day but The Markows. We were able to enjoy our wedding day to the fullest extent AND get the best photos out of it that we could have ever imagined. Working with these two is 100% the best decision we made for our wedding. You would be doing yourself an injustice to go with anyone else.
An absolutely fantastic duo! They captured our wedding day PERFECTLY and with the utmost poise and professionalism. We couldn't be happier with the way that our engagement and wedd...
ing photos turned out. Julianne and Steve were a delight to work with and their photography stunned both us and our guests. Thank you so much for all of your hard work in documenting our special day. We will cherish these photos forever.
Totally agree with Alia – if there were more stars to give, Steve and Julianne would have them! Hiring them was the best decision we made during the whole wedding planning process ...
by far. We were blessed with an overcast day with just a little bit of rain at an outdoor venue with greenery and flowers galore which made for the absolute best wedding photos that I could have imagined. Steve and Julianne captured everything - every detail, every laugh, every tear - and somehow were able to capture the beauty and emotion of every one of those things perfectly. They were such a pleasure to work with from day one – super sweet, responsive, easy to talk to, seemed genuinely excited about our wedding and our ideas. If I tried really hard, I could still not come up with one less-than-glowing thing to say about them. My parents and in-laws both told me how much they loved them the day of, and all of my guests cannot stop gushing about the photos they took. Their blog post of our wedding day was heart-stopping. I can't believe that they got all of those shots or that this picture-perfect day was actually mine. I wish I could get married again so I could spend another day with them photographing me because they made me look more stunning then I have ever felt haha. Book them. Do it! You won't regret it :)
I wish there were more stars to give. The Markows (Julianne and Steve) are a husband/wife duo who are just amazing at what they do. One look at their website/blog is all you need...
to see the outstanding quality of work they deliver. EVERYONE comments on my wedding photos-about how wonderfully unique and truly incredible they are. Their creativity really shines through in the kinds of shots they get, and they put such thought and care into what they do. Their work is truly a step above all the rest.
On the business side, you could not ask for two people who are more professional or downright sweet than Steve and Julianne. They are total pros and two fantastic human beings. They're so patient and just willing to go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable. They’re also super responsive to email, and are able to explain things clearly (to someone who knows nothing about photography) and answer questions truthfully. Their honesty and integrity are to be admired. On my wedding day, they were such a wonderfully calm presence during the stressful times (and there were a few!), and blended right in with the party while getting some awesome photos. It’s impossible not to fall in love with their superior talent and personalities. I really cannot recommend them enough or write enough good things about them. They are incomparable.
I had been following The Markows on social media for a pretty long time. I always admired their work. They don't do many force posed photos, other than the standard family pics and...
bridal party. Everything is in documentary style.
Julie and Steve arrived around 11:30am. We asked them to go to different places. Girls were at one and guys at another. They stayed with us THE WHOLE DAY, they left at midnight. That's 12.5 hours!
They are such an amazing couple and work so so well together. They make you feel so comfortable and relaxed. Very easy to talk to and work with. I'm a big emailer, they answered back very quick!
I received my photos faster than I was expecting!! I couldn't be happier with my photos. I cried (again) when I saw them.
They send you a link first where you can print photos. Do it. They come out beautiful. Then, they send you a USB with your photos. Their packaging is awesome and very nice. It's not just a usb in a padded envelope.
I found the Markows through a wedding spread I saw of a venue we were looking at and just loved their photos. I was out of town for work so we met over Skype and talked for over an...
hour. Julianne and Steve are a husband and wife team and my favorite thing about their wedding package is that it isn't restricted by time. They set one price and are there the whole day, beginning to end, no matter how long. We met them in person to take our engagement pictures at our house and they are just the most wonderful people and our pictures turned out so beautifully! I can't recommend them highly enough! I will update my review after our wedding.
