The Mod House immediately aligned with our vision. Unstuffy yet refined, it was the perfect place to bring our 70s-inspired, disco, pure-fun house party wedding to life. Not only did we get the relaxed, effortless atmosphere we wanted, but also a glorious New York autumn backdrop for our ceremony.
Leading up to the event, the Mod House’s owner, Nick, was incredibly accommodating—allowing us plenty of time to visit, plan, and get a feel for the space.
The venue offered such splendid variety for us and our guests. Whether dancing and lounging in the speakeasy, relaxing by the firepit, or enjoying the warm, inviting interior of the Mod House’s great room, there was a perfect spot for everyone. Our guests couldn’t stop remarking that it was one of the most unique and memorable venues they’d ever been to.
Our wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect. The Mod House gave us the freedom to create something personal, vibrant, and joy-filled. If you’re looking for a venue that feels effortlessly cool yet welcoming, we can’t recommend it enough.
THE BEST! My partner and I are regulars at the ModHouse events and Love, Velma (the basement speakeasy!), so it was a perfect choice for our intimate and off-beat wedding! The property and the house are both unique and stunning. Nick was incredible easy to work with (and has great local connections)! All of our guests ADORED the venue. As seen on HGTV's Frozen in Design! The Mod House is a sustainable and beautifully designed mid-century wedding venue in Ellenville, NY. Located just 90 minutes from New York City, the home is situated in the Catskills of upstate New York near the Shawangunk Mountain ridge. Between the stunning architecture and tasteful decor, couples can create a unique and memorable experience with gorgeous photo opportunities at every turn.
Couples and guests will be transported back in time at this upstate New York wedding venue. Built in 1959 in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright, The Mod House offers 4,200 square feet of impeccably designed indoor event space. Outside, there are over three acres of private, wooded event space. With 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and an open plan layout throughout the home, the retro-chic space is yours for the duration of your celebrations and accommodates up to 100 guests. Guests can make use of the bedrooms for the night or opt for alternative accommodation in one of the many nearby towns. There is plenty of on-site parking, with space for up to 40 cars on the long driveway. One of the most exciting features of the home comes in the form of Love, Velma, a private speakeasy and dance club in The Mod House’s basement.
Perfect for the eco-conscious couple looking for something a bit different, this sustainable home is solar-powered and offers composting as well as fresh herbs and vegetables straight from the garden, lovingly grown with the help of collected rainwater. Ultimately, the Mod House’s laid-back team knows how to throw a party. They’ll work with you to source the best local vendors to create the wedding of your dreams.
