I originally wanted to get married in Italy so looking for a Northeast equivalent was no easy feat. When I found The Mount I felt like we hit the jackpot. It was magical. With the flowers in bloom, the house open to our guests to explore, and the guilded age charm we couldn't have asked for a place better suited for our vision. We got married in the French garden, had our cocktail hour on the terrace and we had a long dinner table in the allee among the trees which was our guests' favorite part. We went through a few site coordinators through the process and the responsiveness was not the best at the beginning. There was an issue after the event where they blamed us for a broken chair and tried to take our full deposit. These were annoyances in the process but I still wouldn't change the end result for anything.
This venue is absolutely stunning - I feel like we found a hidden gem. We were married in the French garden (formal with flowers and a fountain) , had our cocktail reception in the Italian garden (walled and very Secret Garden-esque) and our dinner and dancing on the porch. It was absolutely stunning. Kelsi, who oversees special events couldn't have been lovelier, our photos are fabulous (Christopher Duggan!) and we loved all the vendors we worked with for our wedding. Also, because Edith Wharton was a dog-lover, we were able to include our little rescue puppy in our ceremony. Overall, I truly cannot say enough good things about it. One thing to note - the porch has a capacity limit of ~120, otherwise you have to have a tent up the hill a bit. We worked with Mezze as caterers, and they were fabulous with helping us coordinate.
