The Mountain Mermaid

My friends were married here last summer. I was blown away by the beautiful architecture of the main building. It felt like we were in an old European grand hall. I ran into the owner at one point and we chatted about Topanga. He was a lovely host. Thank you!

My wedding was absolutely stunning. As soon as we toured this venue we knew we had to get married there. The venue is jaw dropping and so unique that we didn’t need much decorations at all. Bill, the owner was very communicative and so kind to us. We used all the venders from the preferred list and the way everything came out was just amazing. Everyone kept asking us how we found such a beautiful venue. If your wedding is 60 or less, definitely tour this place!

The Mountain Mermaid is a lovely venue with a very unique and nurturing environment which is perfect for the type of healing work I do during my small group Commitment To Love wellness retreats each year. The lush grounds and landscape offer many intimate places for break out processes while Topanga Canyon in general holds special healing energy. Proprietor Bill Buerge is a support and pleasure to work and happy to also give a personal tour of this historic hacienda and pet project - the Butterfly House.

We got married this past May 2023 at the Mountain Mermaid and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I have lived in Topanga my whole life and wanted to get married somewhere in the canyon. This place is an absolute dream. Bill, the owner is not only such a pleasure to work with, but he is an artistic genius and is so passionate about his property. He is constantly improving upon it and beautifying it, even though it is already by far the most gorgeous property and building in Topanga. His attention to detail and dedication to the property is seen in every nook of the garden and building.  Bill was so generous and helpful throughout the planning process, which was great since we didn't have a wedding planner. He even saved the day by literally taking his belt off and giving it to my husband when he saw that he didn't have a belt on (and desperately needed one!).  We got married by the pool and had cocktail hour afterwards around the pool, and then dinner and dancing in the main hall. When we got our photos back we were so stunned by how beautiful they were. The backdrop of the Mermaid could not have been more perfect. His whole garden was blooming with native flowers (the matilija poppies and red valerian were going off!).  Everyone said it was the most beautiful wedding they'd ever been to. It was nice to not have to deal with decorating anything because the property is beautiful and perfect as is. We had a large wedding and Bill and the valet company that he recommended made it all so seamless. He has tables and chairs which can be rented which made it much easier than having to deal with another rental company.  We feel so honored to have been able to get married here, surrounded by the beautiful nature of Topanga, with all our friends and family in the heart of a quiet, private neighborhood in my hometown.
