My name is Alyssa and I would love to work with you for your wedding dance!
I really believe your first dance is one of the most important and memorable moments of your reception. 80% of couples did a first dance in 2023 so it's important to give it the attention it deserves. We spend so much time with all sorts of other details for the wedding that sometimes we neglect the most important part and why everyone is there - YOU! You wouldn't want to go to work or class with an unprepared presentation, so similarly you don't want to show up at your reception with an unprepared dance and just sway side to side. Trust me, you will feel so much better and more confident to have something ready to go for your first dance!
What I can guarantee to you and your fiancé is that I will create a customized dance to fit your first song and match the vibe of your wedding in non-intimidating lessons! I know a lot of people are scared to dance but I promise I will demystify dance for you and make it fun! I created my business The Movement Factory - a dance and Pilates business - in 2012. I have been dancing since I was a child and received my MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) in choreography and dance performance in California. I danced professionally for years, I am a dance professor and I have literally taught thousands of people learn how to dance. I have specifically been creating wedding dances for YEARS and I LOVE creating special moments for couples and their guests! I am also currently engaged so I understand first hand what you are going through and how important this moment will be for you!
I can help make your special day even more memorable through dance. Through our lessons I promise you will look good on the dance floor on your wedding day! I offer lessons designed for beginners up to more experienced dancers, and I have experience with all levels of dancers. I work with brides, grooms, families and all couples to create a custom dance that fits your wedding with sessions that work and fit your schedule.
If you have a special song already selected that you want a choreographed dance to, I can create that for you and customize it to make it as simple or as complex as you'd like! I can also help you if you and/or your partner is nervous to get more comfortable for your wedding day! I also create beautiful and fun Father/Daughter dances, Mother/Son dances, or group dances. I can do any style of dance and we can make it as elegant, fun or in between that you would like!
Our sessions would take place at a dance studio in Cleveland Ohio, at an outdoor location (weather permitting) or virtually on Zoom. I am currently working with wedding couples 7 days a week!

Alyssa was very professional and flexible with our situation! We came to her somewhat last-minute (three weeks out) asking for help with our first dance. Her $275 Summer Special was perfect for us to learn the dance, then practice, and get feedback to tighten it up for our big day.
Alyssa helped my husband and I make our first dance more special than we even imagined. She choreographed a dance for us to our chosen song, and then we had two lessons with her to practice. We even had time to go over some other basic dance moves that we busted out later in the reception! Our guests loved the first dance - especially the big lift! (We had little to no dance experience before this.) I am so glad we did these lessons with Alyssa. Some of the best parts of our reception video to look back on include our first dance and the other dances she taught us.
Alyssa is absolutely amazing! Seriously! My husband and I are so happy we took the lessons! And Even more unbelievable they were done over Zoom ( I think…. But either way it was a video lesson) We had our reservations on how it would be helpful but I PROMISE to every couple out there planning a wedding…. This is more than worth it ❤️ Our wedding Dances felt and looked so like we knew exactly what we were doing but not staged… or awkward… just totally comfortable! Alyssa makes it comfortable! I HIGHLY recommend hiring The Movement Factory to help choreograph your first dance. My husband and I were so impressed with how easy Alyssa was to work with and how she made us look like good dancers! She choreographed the most perfect dance which was tailored to our song. Our guests were cheering for us the whole time. I am so happy we chose to have dance lessons and that we went with the Movement Factory!
Alyssa is thee most incredible dance instructor, and I am so happy we chose her to help us learn our first dance!! My husband is not a dancer- he was so anxious about dancing at our wedding he asked to take lessons! Alyssa took our song and choreographed a beautiful dance, and with each practice we made it more intricate, and included dips, turns, and what we deemed the “Man Spin”! Needless to say, our dance was a hit! We had a lot of waterworks afterward! Alyssa Joe and I cannot thank you enough! We would definitely recommend her to anyone!
For my husband and me, dancing is not our thing. At all. In fact, throughout our relationship, my husband has been known to avoid dancing whenever possible. And, for me, dancing has just always been something that doesn’t come naturally.
Yet, oddly enough, the main element of our wedding that my husband and I discussed and whole-heartedly agreed upon well before we even got engaged (we know… that’s kind of weird), is that we wanted to do an impressive choreographed dance for our first dance. Like, something moderately shocking to anyone who knows that we typically do not dance. Then, we got engaged, and reality set in: we were going to have to find someone to seriously work with us to make this dance a reality.
When we were researching dance lessons for our wedding, we knew that we didn’t want our first dance to feel overly-choreographed or too “ballroom-y.” We just wanted something impressive, yet modern.
Enter Alyssa Lee Wilmot and The Movement Factory, who we ultimately hired to choreograph (and teach us!) our first dance. To be honest, on the drive to our first lesson with Alyssa, we were insanely nervous and not remotely looking forward to dance lessons. In fact, my husband had to encourage me not to jump out of the car in Lakewood and run away -- that’s how much I wanted to avoid having to dance for the first time!
However, all our nerves soon disappeared, and we actually became excited to go to our lessons and practice at home! Alyssa is incredible in every way. She is so creative; she knows so much about dance and quality presentation; and she is a genuinely wonderful person to be around and work with. She’s light-hearted and funny, yet serious and professional.
Ultimately, through our 5.5 lessons, Alyssa was able to take two nervous people who had no experience dancing at all, and create a beautifully choreographed “waltz-fusion” dance for us to perform at our wedding reception. The cool thing about working with Alyssa is that it wasn’t a linear process. She would regularly adjust elements of our dance based on our feedback and what she felt was or was not working for us. In that way, our first dance was perfectly crafted and tailored just for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
In the end, Alyssa created a first dance for us that was everything that we wanted: shocking and impressive. Our guests were floored. And we were so proud. We highly recommend Alyssa and the Movement Factory to absolutely anyone and everyone -- you won’t be disappointed.
Wow what a great time we had choreographing a dance! Alyssa was awesome! She made such a fun routine that the guests absolutely loved. She has such an attention to detail and made the dance exactly what we wanted, elegant but fun. She really didn't have any limitations on what we wanted to make our dance. She even taught us the most basic dance moves that we mastered and will be able to use for future weddings. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding and will probably go back for more lessons because it was so fun!!
Alyssa taught us a romantic yet natural dance for our wedding. My husband was extremely nervous and skeptical at first of taking lessons but Alyssa put him right at ease. I told her exactly the type of look we were going for and she created just that. She is so personable and easy to work with, making my husband feel confident and at ease. Our dance was a huge hit, and we got many compliments. We were so happy and proud of ourselves after we performed. I can not recommend Alyssa enough- she truly is the best!
Oh my goodness, where to begin...
Alyssa is such a gem! She choreographed my first dance with my husband as well as my father-daughter dance. I sent Alyssa the two songs I wanted to dance to and explained some of the details around them (that the first dance would be what my husband and I would be introduced to/would start dancing to right after we walked in, that my dad and I wanted to incorporate some silly elements to our dance, etc.); and, within a few days, she prepared two completely different dances for us to learn.
She was patient, adaptable, flexible with her availability, and completely open to our ideas - the end result were two very different dances that looked great (and made us feel great, too!). It was such an added surprise element to our day; people couldn't get over the over-the-top performances.
If you're a bride looking for dance lessons, GO NO FURTHER. This is absolutely the place!!
Alyssa was amazing! We did not make it easy on her with a fast paced song and several injuries on our end and she choreographed the most fun dance for us. The amount of compliments and the amount of FUN we had learning some new dance moves really helped make the day extra special!
I always wanted to learn a choreographed dance for our first dance and so glad we did! It was a fun activity for a day date in the midst of stressful wedding planning. We are definitely beginner dancers but Alyssa gave us tips to wow our guests! We were really happy with how our wedding dance came out. We were able to do a practice run while taking pictures so that gave us more confidence for the lift. We practiced a lot so we were well prepared. We loved the dancing lessons so much that now we are going to take ballroom dancing lessons!
Perfect place to get ready for the big day! I feel like I can't say enough great things about this studio. It's my favorite cleveland/west side studio. I love the barre sculpting classes, Pilates, and springboard classes! Great for toning, lengthening, and sculpting all the problem areas for your wedding dress! The classes make me feel great here and I love the tone they give me! And pound is also a great fun way to sweat and rock the pounds away!
I consider myself a fairly good dancer and my husband the same (nothing to write home about but we are able to hold our own on the dance floor). However, we've never had professional training and we both wanted our first dance to be special. It was actually his idea to get a choreographer and this is the one venue he picked out. Props to hubby for finding her because she was amazing!! Alyssa is a bonafide professional, creative, and passionate dancer. You can tell from the moment you meet that she loves her job and she finds it a joy to help you move! We had a fun time learning a whole variety of styles from salsa to waltz to hip-hop. The song we chose was pretty edgy and different, so I was really impressed at how she came up with choreography to suit it perfectly and match our personalities. She also was able to edit the song to the appropriate length. She worked with us just enough so that we felt comfortable. On the big day, we knocked it out the park! So many compliments on how beautiful the dance was and best of all -- people really think we can dance now! :)
Alyssa choreographed my husband and I's first dance and our father/daughter and mother/son dances. The first thing I have to say about this is - she is an amazingly talented choreographer! We picked slightly not traditional songs and she was able to create dances that fit our personalities and relationships with our parents perfectly. [And made sure they were within our comfort zone] Not to mention she was so fun to work with, very accommodating to our schedules and the space we practiced in was beautiful. I wish I had another reason to ask her to choreograph something for us! I highly recommend - it was a special gift we were able to give our family and friends on our big day and the memories from our practices and on the wedding I'll cherish forever!
