We had the pleasure of DJing a wedding at the New Children's Museum a few weeks ago and can report having a wonderful experience. The museum is a fun and unique place for a wedding...
, and the layout works well for the entire event. We highly recommend it if you are looking for a venue for your upcoming wedding!
Meredith and Keaton's wedding could not have been anywhere else -- the venue is spacious, joyful, photogenic, accommodating, and just plain fun. The first look photos were taken at...
the children's theater -- unique. The museum is well suited for weddings, with the park across the street for the ceremony, outside area at the museum for drinks, front hall for dinner, and a dance floor with plenty of space to move. The museum's event staff was accommodating and helpful. Every minute was magic. Highly recommend.
The NCM was the perfect setting for our wedding. We had our ceremony in the park, cocktail hour on the paint truck patio and adjoining room, and dinner/reception in the main hall. ...
Having our entire event in one place made for a seamless evening. The space is beautiful and a unique combination of modern plus playful and whimsical. There are so many fun spaces within the museum for guests to explore, and also places to incorporate personal touches into your day. The museum staff supported us and our vendors from start to finish. They are a team of true professionals who made it so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. We had about 160 wedding guests and it felt like the perfect amount of space for us (we opted for the round dinner tables rather than the long tables). The majority of our family and friends were traveling to be at our wedding, so we arranged a hotel block within walking distance of the museum. Since we got married over the 4th of July weekend, it made for a whole weekend of celebrations, and allowed us to share the city we love with the people we love. We would highly recommend this venue if you're interested in a unique, elegant, and playful space that is a one-stop shop. We will always love this place and are so thankful we found it!
I got married at The New Children's Museum and absolutely loved the venue. It's definitely a unique space that allows for a little more fun and creativity than other spaces that I ...
looked at. Laura Simpson was our contact person during the entire wedding planning process and she was a pleasure to work with. She was very friendly and professional and was always prompt in replying to any questions or concerns I had via email or phone.
One thing that I was surprised to learn is that for private events they are pet friendly! It was very important for us to have our dog be present for both ceremony and reception and the museum was willing to accommodate.
The museum stays open to the public until 4pm and they do have a required vendors list, but this is all information they tell you about up front during the initial consultation. I had no issues in regards to vendors and was able to adjust my wedding timeline accordingly. The museum is a green building meaning no A/C so it did get a little warm at times during the reception, but I also had my wedding in the middle of August.
During our wedding we had a really cool exhibit on the main floor that we thought would be open to guests, but unfortunately had to be closed off. The museum is ever changing in exhibits so I would recommend to other couples to get clarification on what will be open to your guests to use.
Overall I was very happy with our decision in choosing The New Children's Museum (NCM). It was a great day filled with lots of memories and in a venue that completely captured our hearts. I'd highly recommend NCM to anyone.
I had my wedding at the New Children's Museum in May 2018 and I had a mixed experience working with them. There is no question that no other location offers the photo opportunities...
that the museum does; however, there are some drawbacks to working with them. I booked the venue for my wedding about a 1.5 in advance and worked with different people at the museum and found a lack of consistency in the rules they enforce. I was told different rules and policies about parking, the exhibits, and event times even the day before the wedding. All because their contract is meant to cater to all different types of events that verbal accountability was required that they flip flopped back and forth with. However, the worst part of it was their required vendors. Two of the required vendors I worked with took advantage of the fact that there were no other options and I had some of the worst customer service I've ever received as a result. I loved my wedding, but I question my decision of having my wedding here because of the vendors. Overall, average customer service but the vendors were not the most accommodating.
We're so glad we found the new Children's Museum - our wedding there was so fun. From the very start, working with the staff, especially Liz, was great and they were very helpful i...
n helping us visualize how we could make our ceremony and reception work while taking advantage of the museum's awesome exhibits. The museum itself is beautiful and it's big enough to allow for a ton of different set-ups. We ended up doing our photos in an exhibit upstairs, our cocktail hour on the balcony, having our ceremony by the window downstairs, and dinner in the main hall. There was still room to have a large stage for a band and dancing as well! The New Children's Museum was such a large part of our celebration and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun spot with super helpful staff.
