The Old Homestead was such a cute, affordable, flexible venue! Totally gorgeous too and I got so many compliments from my guests. My husband and I really loved how we could pretty ...
much do whatever we wanted with our day and it was truly beautiful. The staff was friendly and easy to work with, but I do recommend getting a wedding planner to help coordinate all the vendors you book/set-up/take-down. All together that made it seamless!
Beautiful venue for a wedding and reception! Gorgeous gardens, large deck area, access to indoor areas of a lovely historic home. At night, the outdoor cafe string lights make for ...
a beautiful ambience. I acted as wedding coordinator for a family member's recent wedding, and Tracy, the venue coordinator for The Old Homestead, was a dream to work with! Super friendly and helpful...having her there during the event was like having a friend there to make sure everything went well. This place is a hidden gem...highly recommend!
DO NOT BOOK HERE NAFARIOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES!
I waited to review this venue for three months because of how beautiful the venue is but the staff made our wedding memory absolutely...
atrocious. FIRST we where promised the date of July 4th before the calendar of 2018 opened up since my husband and I are super patriotic (we both come from families of heavy military service). The day the calendar opened up we where ready to put down out deposit only to find out they had lied to us about it being open and they had a standing reservation for that day for YEARS something you would remember with the fire department. SO we went to look else where but came back just because of the simple beauty and intimacy of the place.
Then when it came to planning they didn't seem to know their own venue. When we where discussing tables and how many guest would be able to fit on the deck the number we where originally told that 90 guests could fit on the deck went down to 50 and that we would have to exile almost half our guests to a lower area where we wouldn't be able to interact with them during dinner. We where also told our guests would have to "make a game" of moving the lower tables and chairs.
We asked how many tables, chairs, they had and what where the dimensions plus what was the dimensions of the deck. If we could come out ourselves during the week and pull them out and see if we could fit everyone. Our wedding doubled as our going away party since we where moving to Texas 3 days later so we really wanted everyone to be on one level and to feel included. They refused our request. We had to go out to the venue and measure everything and the dimensions they didn't know we where actually able to find on their website... how do you not know your own dimensions if they're on your website.
The day of they made into momentary nightmares. My florist tried to drop flowers off two hours early in the PARKING LOT not even on the property they're trying to charge us for that time. My family had to clean up from whatever happened the day before, bottle caps, beer bottles, and other stuff. I'm about to walk down the isle and they had some dude lurking around the house taking pictures making me the bride feeling super uncomfortable. We discussed having our registered emotional support animals in the wedding they're trying to charge us for that. We had a miscomuncation about the time which in our mind makes no sense why would an entire wedding and reception be from 5-8? When we left we deep cleaned even me the bride because we want to leave the place better than we found it and the staff rolled up before our time was done which was fine because we where out and done before our time was up and we wake up the next day our supossid honey moon to them trying to charge us an extra $2600 and they wont answer the phone or communicate with us anymore. DO NOT BOOK HERE, its gorgeous but the women who run it either don't know what they're doing or from other yelp reviews I WISH WE READ BEFORE WE BOOKED have a shady business practice.
Stay away from this venue. As beautiful it is the management will verbally tell you one thing and then turn around and do another. We had a perfect budget to pay for everything and...
after the wedding we received a bill for $1,120 for things the venue said was okay and claimed wouldn’t be an issue and then upcharged us and penalty fees.
Although I had a beautiful wedding, thanks to all the extra hands, behind the scenes was a disaster. When we sat down with Keri to go over everything, she made it seem that there w...
as so much flexibility. Great! Let's book!...
I contacted Maureen 2 months before wedding to go over details and she mentioned that they would set up tables an hour before our start time, WTH!? How can we start setting up and get everything situated in an hour. We were then told we can buy additional hours. I was furious about this because initially we had the impression that we had the a.m. to set up. We felt we had no choice but to pay for extra time. I then decided to contact table and chair rental company so we didn't have to deal with The Old Homestead "set up" crew. Which the rental company was happy enough to drop off and set up the tables at 11 a.m. So we contacted Maureen to tell her about the tables and chairs drop off. She was hesitant about even letting us do that because with additional hours our set up time is now 1 p.m. but she accepted. GREAT! What a relief... When it came down to two weeks before our wedding, The Old Homestead finally had there open house after their remodeling and we were able talk to Maureen again. Well she didn't remember our conversation on the phone about being ok with the drop off and set up of tables and chairs at 11 a.m. She explained that no one can be on property setting up unless someone is there, so she then said if we pay $100 in cash for her to be there at 11 a.m. then it's ok. We didn't mind paying just as long as we can get tables and chairs set so all the decorating can occur at 1 p.m. We thought everything was good to go until we got an email from Keri that we can no longer have our tables and chairs set at 11 a.m. I was so angry at this point because by this time it was a week before the wedding. This put a lot of stress on my husband and I. We were told we can start setting up at 1 p.m. and that was final. We told the tables and chairs rental company the situation and they worked with us. Mind you our ceremony was at 1:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima and my husband and groomsman were going to help set up to make sure everything was up and running.
When it came to the day of our wedding, table and chair company came 10-15min early and started setting up. When Maureen saw this she was furious and said that she would then charge us $200 for setting up early, REALLY!? for a couple of minutes?? One of the groomsman than said, "well if you are charging $200 for setting up 10-15min early, then we can all start setting everything else up?" And Maureen said no, you start setting up at 1 p.m. Maureen was extremely rude to my husband my fam and friends that were helping and even towards the rental company staff.
Thank you to all the helping hands our wedding was amazing... but when it came down to the hour of clean up time, here came Maureen to regulate but in a rude way. We were already cleaning up when she said, "YOU PEOPLE have to start cleaning." We felt discriminated after that and doing our best to clean up and get out of there ASAP. It seemed like Maureen was trying to look for something just to charge us with.
The Old Homestead is a beautiful place but there staff is horrible! Too many ladies trying to delegate and Maureen is extremely rude and hard to work with. I would like to recommend The Old Homestead but in reality, I can't with my experience.
This was thee perfect outdoor venue for our wedding. The area is large enough to hold 200 people but makes it feel like a quaint intimate wedding. When decorated right it is a spec...
tacular site! The staff is great and really gives you freedom! Plus who doesn't love a venue where you can provide the alcohol...which helps keep your budget in tact!
What a value! We looked everywhere for a venue that was pretty but inexpensive. All of my guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the setting was. Angela- the coordinator...
was fantastic! She was very always available when I needed her to come down to show me the property, and was very professional when I called and had a question. If I ever host a party I'll be sure to contact them! It was a fantastic deal also! Tables and chairs were included in the rental price! WHAT?! Fantastic, made my wedding!
Very green, beautiful for photos. Nice concrete dance floor. Lots of parking. Very inexpensive.
