After trying so many cakes and been a baker myself, this was a tough decision. However choosing Painted Cupcakes was the one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. It was great and beautiful. Everyone is still talking about how delicious the cake tasted. That is always a good sign!!
We decided to go with a very small cake for myself and the groom with 5 different flavors of mini cupcakes for our guests. None of the flavors were standard ones that Painted Cupcake made, except lemon, but they were more than happy to make some up for a trial tasting. We decided to go with:
- Cherry almond vanilla
- Banana (no nuts) with peanut butter frosting
- Lemon with lemon frosting
- Red velvet (a Southern classic!)
- Vanilla with salted caramel frosting
The cupcakes were delivered on time and set up so that they were easily acessible. They were devoured by our guests with some left over, all except the salted caramel cupcakes. There were none of those remaining at the end of the night. That flavor was universally hailed as the best of the bunch.
I took the cupcakes in to work and let my coworkers have at them. Not a one went to waste. Several people asked where they from. I hope they've stopped by to pick some up!
Having used this vendor for a 50th Birthday cake for my husband the year prior, I knew without hesitation that The Painted Cupcake was the right place to go for my daughter's wedding cake.
Not only did Tracey offer me the most affordable cake(s), but she went above and beyond in size and beauty. We ordered a wedding (bride's) cake and a groom's cake, the groom's cake being a very special and difficult design. But I knew from past experience that Tracey would have no trouble producing a cake that would go beyond our expectations in design and flavor. I was not wrong. Both of the cakes were lovely and scrumptious.
What really impresses me again and again about The Painted Cupcake is the 'old fashioned' look and taste of their cake. So often these days, professional cake makers are using boxed mixes - and it's obvious. Not Tracey! Her cakes are quite obviously hand made. Dense, moist, and delicious, The Painted Cupcake makes a cake that will remind you of your grandmother's best offering.
I remember before the wedding, people kept telling me not to expect much from the cake - that wedding cakes are notoriously disliked by wedding guests. I knew that The Painted Cupcake would deliver something our guests would LOVE - and I was right.
I am looking forward to the next event when I will be in need of a GREAT cake. I know I will be calling The Painted Cupcake, and I'll be letting my friends know, there is no better place to buy a cake in all of Nashville.
In Nashville, in very close proximity to Green Hills Mall, The Painted Cupcake sits nestled in a small strip mall near the high school. Owner Tracey Davenport makes not only divine cupcakes, but specializes in cakes of extraordinary decoration, as well. I chose to have cupcakes at my wedding -- half were almond with almond icing and half were strawberry with strawberry icing (real strawberries!). She made a wedding cake 6-inch topper for me and my husband to cut. There were no disappointed guests, to say the least. Highly recommend! Very reasonable prices (the more you get, the cheaper they become). I had 250 guests at the wedding and the cost remained under $500.
