This remarkable place was initially built for St. Johannes Lutheran Church and now serves as a beautiful site for elegant events. The Parsonage can host a variety of occasions, and its dedicated team offers essential support to couples starting their wedding journey. The Parsonage at St. Johannes features both indoor and outdoor spaces for your event. The cozy courtyard, surrounded by a garden, provides a private area for celebration. The grand historic house has large rooms on the first floor and two iconic Charleston piazzas that overlook the courtyard. Hand-forged wrought iron gates enhance the classic charm of this venue. Moreover, a catering kitchen and private guest kitchen make meal preparation easy. The staff at The Parsonage at St. Johannes is focused on hospitality. What a privilege it is to introduce myself as the manager of The Parsonage and to invite you to make beautiful memories in this magical venue that was once the residence of pastors of St. Johannes Lutheran Church for over a hundred years. The house is still owned by the church, and was converted into a wedding venue in 2015. It gives me great pleasure to have the private intimate garden and house ready for each of our wedding couples and their families. I look forward to meeting you!

lly decorated interior residence. You can choose between a garden, small chapel, or large church for your ceremony. All of your wedding photos will be amazing because of the tall windows and natural light throughout! The bridal suite is the perfect place to get ready for the day with tons of veranda space. Barbara who runs the Parsonage could not be easier to work with. She is amazing and takes great care and pride in every event hosted here. Could not recommend the Parsonage more highly. 10/10!

My daughter was married at the Parsonage on the first of May. We and our guests all came in from Michigan, so we were not very familiar with the area other than internet research....
The Parsonage exceeded all expectations. Barbara, the manager, was fantastic, she went above and beyond to make sure the event was a success. The location is very walkable to all the attractions, so it was a great place to meet up and then go explore. The three large bedrooms upstairs were very comfortable and were excellent photo backdrops for the bride and groom getting ready for the wedding. The wedding and dinner were held outside in the garden surrounded by hanging lights, flowers and greenery. The food catered by Duvall Catering was phenomenal, as was the cake from Tenacious Tart. Before and after, the guests mingled indoors in the beautifully decorated rooms and outside on the gorgeous piazza. The garden became the dancefloor. Every direction you looked was a beautiful photo opportunity. Our guests were amazed at all the charm The Parsonage held. We would highly recommend The Parsonage and Duvall Catering.

ions on the property, to have your ceremony, you’re sure to fall in love. Being able to stay for a week, with loved ones, was one of many selling points. You’re in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of all historic Charleston has to offer. Barbara Pace, the manager is a gem!! Graceful, professional and passionate, she takes tremendous pride in The Parsonage, and will help you craft the wedding of your dreams!!
