If they do this again, we will request to talk to the manager to make sure this is addressed and we get an apology as a lot of the comments made by the employee were very hurtful even a year later. Here was the original review that was left by my husband: “The Pastry Garden made our wedding cake for our October wedding. Our 3-layer red velvet cake was incredibly delicious and gorgeous! The cream wasn't too heavy either and didn't make anyone feel too weighed down to dance. We couldn't ask for a more skilled team! However, the cake tasting we had a few months prior to our wedding is the primary reason for the low rating. While the cakes we tasted were truly delicious, the person assisting us was just as distasteful and hurtful as their cakes were good. Completely unprovoked, during the tasting after I complimented her on her technological knowledge, she made an ugly comment about Gen-Z kids and young adults, stating they're the dumbest generation. She then went on to make several homophobic and transphobic remarks, all the while I'm trying to shut her down and steer the conversation back to something more cordial and appropriate. She also claimed some wild political views, like how teachers make too much money in the U.S. This was not the right time nor place to make any political statements, nor is it ever ok to be transphobic or homophobic. I'm not sure if this woman was the owner or just a manager, but this is a public post -- they can look up my name in their database and see who assisted me that day. Regardless, it was someone with seemingly high authoritative power in the store based on how she talked to the employees behind the counter. This experience completely ruined my day after a 2-hour drive to the bakery. The only reason I went through with the order was because I thought the wedding venue I chose already paid $500 to this bakery as a voucher for my cake, which I would lose if I went elsewhere. I should have asked my venue about this, but found out after the wedding the voucher was not locked in, and I could have taken it to a different bakery. Don't make the same mistake we did. Do not support businesses which employ people with harmful and dangerous views like this. Go find a bakery with great cakes which promote community and the betterment of everyone.”

The buttercream was so delicious. We got some helpful advice on how we might decorate our cake. My husband and I were unsure what we wanted, but thankfully we were able to send emails with inspiration photos and discuss the designs. Everything was simple and not stressful at all. Thank you so much for a beautiful cake to match my beautiful day.

for a tasting and choose the flavors we wanted beforehand, which they had prepared when we came in. We ended up going with a vanilla cake with lemon preserves because it was SO refreshing. We got so many compliments on the cake from our guests. Looked absolutely beautiful too!

or our cake. I’m attaching a picture of a one layer cake that we used for inspiration and then attaching our wedding cake picture. Such a great match, with everything that I wanted. It was so perfect!! They took care of everything day of- bringing it to the venue and having it set up, we had nothing to worry about and I would recommend them to anyone!

and easy process. We showed pictures of what we liked and were able to try 3 different AMAZING samples! They confirmed multiple times between then and the wedding that the cake would be delivered on time. When I saw the cake on the day of the wedding, I almost cried at how perfect it was! It really was a dream come true. The design was perfect and it tasted even better than I remember at the tasting. All of the guests were raving about it and I can't wait to have the rest on our year anniversary!

for sampling the cake was simple and convenient. They had our samples ready to go when we arrived. My husband and I are both chocolate lovers. We went with the chocolate cake with fudge filling and vanilla icing. It was so good! The cake looked gorgeous – we almost didn’t want to cut into it! We highly recommend The Pastry Garden!

Through our venue, the Pastry Garden handled delivery so there was nothing we had to do to coordinate. Would recommend!
