The Inside Scoop

The First Look
A wedding at The Peña-Peck House immerses a bride and her groom in lush Florida gardens surrounded by a mixture of Spanish architecture and New England design. Located in the heart of the St. George Street district of St. Augustine, Florida, this historic home was built in 1750 by the Spanish Crown for its Treasurer Juan Estevan de Peña and his wife Maria Antonia. Dr. Seth Peck and his family added the stately second floor in 1837, lending their Connecticut architectural influence to the interior. Owned by the city of St. Augustine since 1931, the home and grounds are lovingly maintained by the St. Augustine Woman's Exchange, whose members delight in hosting outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions for couples and their guests. The venue accommodates up to 125 guests..
Events are held in the gardens with the pristine white native coquina stone house as a beautiful backdrop. Hints of its Spanish roots are seen in the original arches that grace the outside walls. The bride and groom exchange vows in front of an arbor while guests look on from the stone-paved patio. The gardens are filled with mature trees including palms along with shrubbery, flowers, ivy and other greenery. String lights hung from the second floor veranda and trees cast a romantic glow on an evening reception. The venue accommodates up to 125 guests.
What You Should Know
The St. Augustine Woman’s Exchange offers four different wedding packages to the bride and groom. The Elopement package is suited for an intimate ceremony only, accommodating up to 25 guests. Photographs follow the ceremony. Chair setup and decorations are not included. Full payment is due at the time of booking, which can be done only within 90 days or less of the ceremony. The payment is nonrefundable.
The Full Ceremony package includes a bridal prep room and a rehearsal the day before the ceremony if the rehearsal takes place before 5 p.m. If not there is an additional fee. Fifty percent of the package price is required to reserve a date and it is nonrefundable. Photos are taken after the ceremony.
Couples who wish to wed off-site can hold their reception at The Peña-Peck House by using the Dinner and Dancing package. The St. Augustine Women’s Exchange offers tables and chairs and sets them up for a small fee. Tenting is highly recommended but not required. Couples choose catering, who must be licensed, state certified and fully insured. The on-site kitchen is made available for plate presentation and setup. The couple must also provide a bartender if alcohol is served. The reception must end by 10 p.m. A 50 percent non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a date.
For a full wedding event at The Peña-Peck House, the bride and groom can choose the Ceremony and Reception package. The bride has use of the bridal prep room and the kitchen is available to the caterer. Couples can use the available chairs and tables for a small setup fee or rent their own. Tenting again is encouraged and the same end time, rehearsal dinner and payment guidelines as with the Dinner and Dancing package apply.
The St. Augustine Woman’s Exchange is a nonprofit organization that serves women in need and provides educational scholarships by maintaining a boutique at The Peña-Peck House for women to sell their handmade items. The proceeds gained from couples who host their wedding events here support these causes.
When a couple chooses to host both their wedding ceremony and reception at The Peña-Peck House with The St. Augustine Women's Exchange, the rental fees are discounted.

Beautiful gardenReviewed on 6/12/2013 Melissa L
When my fiance and I first walked into The Pena Peck House gardens we knew that it was the place we wanted to get married at. It is in the heart of downtown. The women that helped us the day of were wonderful and went above and beyound to make sure our day was wonderful. We had to tent the gardens at the last minute because we thought it was going to rain but it turned out to be a sunny day. It is possible to rent parking spaces for our guests in the parking lot behind the venue.
The ladies at the pena peck were so helpful all along the way. The venue was beautiful and everyone had a wonderful time!
Best Kept Secret for Garden ReceptionReviewed on 12/09/2014 Pattie M
We found the Pena-Peck after our (initial) first-choice of the White Room Loft didn't have our preferred date available... but you know what they say -- everything happens for a reason! The Pena-Peck's outdoor venue was simply amazing and was the best thing that ever happened to us. The ladies of the Women's Exchange were the most charming, sweet and helpful ladies that even came and enjoyed the festivities with us (we invited them to join in to clarify) and we could see them tapping their toes to our band. YES THEY ALLOW BANDS! Of course, they must adhere to the city noise ordinance which we honestly had a little trouble with, but no one complained and we even had a line at the side entrance of folks who wanted to join our party (I guess they thought it was a bar/public party?) We booked through Lindsay (Coastal Celebrations) and she was fabulous. She worked with out budget and also was the POC for our rentals. We had a rain scare coming up to our day (it ended up being GORGEOUS out though!) but she made sure she helped us not only find a tent, but at an AMAZING price we couldn't beat by calling around for over two weeks. Everything about the House is great - from the staff to the grounds! Everything is so beautiful it hardly needs decoration. We would choose it again in a heartbeat!
