The Safe Harbor Peninsula Yacht Club is a waterfront wedding venue in Cornelius, NC. Housed on the shores of Lake Norman, it offers stunning sights. The grounds feature lovely outdoor areas for the ceremony. The happy couple can also celebrate inside the sophisticated clubhouse.
The Safe Harbor Peninsula Yacht Club officially opened its doors in the summer of 1996. Since then, its popularity has grown. The club was designed with luxury in mind. It serves the community as a lovely place to eat, relax, and have fun. Now, couples can invite their loved ones to celebrate in the venue’s lavish atmosphere. The Event Lawn offers a vibrant outdoor setting for the ceremony and reception. A wedding arch on the bright grass sets the scene for a beautiful vow exchange. There is room for 50-350 guests. This lets couples choose between an intimate or elaborate affair. The harbor gives the ceremony a sparkling backdrop. As the celebrations extend into the evening, guests can watch the sun disappear behind the island. The venue staff can set up a cozy tent for an intimate outdoor affair. A romantic reception under the night sky is also possible. Alternatively, the club’s tastefully decorated mansion offers a sophisticated setting for fancier celebrations. Large windows mean that the enchanting lake is never far from sight. Neutral tones give the space a refined feel. Guests can still enjoy the fresh night air, as the mansion extends onto a lovely veranda. The dining room fits up to 200 guests for cocktail hours and receptions. Couples set on celebrating outdoors can pair the Event Lawn with the Commodore’s Room. It is a lovely space for guests to enjoy a drink and mingle.
The charming setting of the club is brought to life by excellent service staff and delicious food. The professional planning team is fully prepared to put the big day into action. They offer destination packages and services through Spanish. This opens up the elegant yacht club to even more happy couples. On the day, the wedding party can get ready in on-site dressing rooms. The friendly event staff will provide a tent if needed. They can also take over the bar to ensure that guests are looked after. The in-house chefs will prepare a delicious gourmet feast. Their traditional menus are designed to impress a range of different tastes.

ied on the lawn facing the lake then having a reception inside/outside depending on the weather but DO your research! Our issues started happening when the Event Manager left for maternity and someone new took over. We were told one thing and then it would change the next time we talked to them., however Jeff was amazing to work with! He was really willing to help make our day happen and within our budget. I did end up hiring a wedding coordinator (outside of who they offered because I couldn't deal with the current event manager anymore - I'm purposely leaving their name out of this review as I feel like they're still getting the go of things). We were told if we wanted to try additional menu items for the tasting we'd have to pay (so basically you can try what you think you want for free). Things to be cautious of and why I say do your research: the linens are not ironed out and they don't touch the floor, the tent venue they recommended was more than another vendor we found, if they cover up the flags for you it's with table cloths. We ended up getting our table cloths from an outside vendor along with the tent and pipe and draping to cover the flags/pictures that couldn't be removed. The food was good, but they were not the way we requested for the day of (our guests had no complaints tho!). If you select the beer package make sure you ask for a specific list (this was one of those things they would go back and forth on).

moment we saw the formal dining room that backed up onto a large wrap around porch overlooking the lake we knew this was exactly where we wanted to hold our ceremony and reception. This venue became even more enticing when we heard PYC uses its own kitchen so there would be no need to coordinate with a caterer, they have their own tableware as well as a variety of linen colors so there would be no need to order rentals, and best of all the porch offered a built in rain plan. We could not thank our event coordinators Kelsey and Emily enough for all of their help and support throughout the planning process. They were truly wonderful and helped to keep us at ease as we navigated all the decisions that needed to be made. PYC does offer a menu tasting prior to deciding on your day of selections and everything we tried tasted wonderful. We greatly appreciated all the menu options available to us as well as PYC’s flexibility in mixing and matching items to form our ideal meal. Even though there are some small fees for extras such as the black/white dance floor, ceremony space rental, day of coordination and twinkle light installation the best value offered is the boat exit. My only regret was the music from the boathouse on the first floor wasn't turned off during our some of our processional and one of our family members had to run back to quickly turn down the volume. It was a simple mistake that can easily be avoided in the future! Absolutely loved working with the Peninsula Yacht Club to craft our perfect day and would happily recommend it to any brides looking for something a little off the beaten path of typical Charlotte.

the service was disappointing. We provided our feedback to the club and everyone, even the property owners reached out to us to give their apologies and hear the details of our experience. After hearing our feedback they did all they could to make things right and we are very appreciative.

about this venue- the views of Lake Norman are amazing and the atmosphere there is wonderful! My husband and I were treated so nicely by everyone person working there, as well as the rest of my bridal party and guests :) We had around 120-125 and it fit well inside the upstairs dining room. I gave it 4/5 stars for value because some of the food minimum and pricing was a bit more than other places. However, the food and service was amazing so it is was worth it!

I loved the views of lake norman & the deck allowed us to have an outdoor wedding without covering up the view with tents. Food & service on the day of was impeccable - the staff went out of their way to make sure everything was how I envisioned & even checked in to make sure I ate throughout the day / evening. The only downside is that the club is in a neighborhood so due to the noise ordinance, there was a hard stop at 10pm.
