Just 13 days before my wedding, I found this shop online after a terrible experience elsewhere and a need to find a different dress. I assumed I’d find a decent dress, but never i...
magined what I would find would be THE dress. Melissa worked tirelessly to erase my prior dress experience. She is passionate about the role she plays in making her brides feel beautiful and confident on their wedding day. Whether you end up with a consignment piece, or one of her originals, I have no doubt you’ll leave this shop thrilled!
I found THE dress for my 2022 wedding at The Perfect Stitch. I can not recommend this place enough! My dress was perfect and the shopping experience there was so relaxed and fun! I...
also had my dress altered here and the fit was perfect. The ladies who work there are so kind and helpful in meeting our needs. Prices here are amazing and there is always a sale happening! I have recommended this place to other brides and they have had such amazing things to say about their experience too. Every time I walked into their shop, either for myself or a friend, I would feel such joy. Shop local and check this place out for your perfect dress or alterations!
I had a great experience with the perfect stitch and I would recommend her 1000× over. She is super sweet. She answers all my questions! She takes pride in all her work as she t...

I had a great experience shopping for and finding my wedding dress! I did not feel pressured to buy or rushed at all when I tried on several different dresses. Melissa, the seams...
tress and owner, will work WONDERS on your dress if it needs altered! I know she put so much love and work into my dress and it showed on my wedding day--it was flawless! I got several compliments from family and friends about how gorgeous my dress was. They have a variety of styles, accessories, options, and prices ranges. Cannot recommend them enough!
I have never written a bad review until today because it was so offensive. I had purchased a dress from the Perfect Stitch in 2019 but due to personal reasons and covid my wedding ...
had to be moved to 2021 and I had since gained weight and was no longer able to fit in the dress. I was not wanting a refund or anything but I had reached out to see if I could consign my dress through them, since that is where I purchased it from. I set up an appointment with the owner to check out the dress to see if it is something she would be interested in consigning. I came in today with my mother for the owner to check out the dress and she informed me it is a style that isn't selling right now, which would have been perfectly fine if it was just left at that, I would have just taken ot elsewhere with no bad blood. However, she continued to point out a loose loop on the corset back of the dress that needed tacked down saying she would not have sent a dress home with that. Which she did send the dress home to me like that saying she would fix it during alterations. She also opened the dress up and pointed out dark complected foundation on the inside of the dress bodice and accused me of already using the dress. Feel free to look through my profile but I have NEVER been a dark complexion. I purchased my dress in February of 2019 and she had held the dress in her shop until January of 2020 because that was the longest time she would hold it there and I was not positive about the wedding date due to before mentioned personal reasons. She then even went to the measure of accusing me of letting someone else wear the dress, and I can promise I didn't purchase a $800 dress for someone else to wear. I am not sure why the owner was so insistent that I was lying to her when she already told me off the bat that she wasn't going to take it because the style. She sold the dress to me in that same condition she saw it in today and denied it then accused my mother and I of being liars for absolutely no reason. There are plenty of options I have for selling my dress just say no and don't belittle customers who have been using your altering services for years on different prom and wedding dresses for my sisters and I. Then after accusing us of lying to her multiple time she continued to try to get business in altering my new (larger) dress. No thank you, I have never had such an unprofessional and unnecessary encounter.
Brides BEWARE!
First of all let me start by saying, go elsewhere! Save yourself money, disappointment, and unnecessary stress. I brought my dress in to have alterations done; Mi...
nor things such as sleeve length and hem length. The dress was long sleeve and short. Melissa was very standoffish, distracted and in a rush from the get go. She sloppily pinned my left sleeve and asked if that length was “ok” to which I agreed yes. No measurements were taken and she was “finished” communicating with me in about 4 minutes. I proceeded to choose a sash for my dress as an added piece. I was told the entire amount of over $200 was due now, no exceptions. Against my gut feeling I paid the total due (overpriced alterations and sash) left my dress behind, and trusted that it would be fine. I went to a “final fitting” appointment a few weeks later and on the hanger it looked fine. I put my dress on and the sleeves were about 3 inches too short…………the back was pulling across the shoulders as well…………an after effect of disaster sleeve alteration =( All she could say was, “I did what you wanted me to do”………….The designer of the dress wanted it that way and you should’ve left it alone. Wow. Really. I am not a seamstress but I do know the difference between 1 inch and 3 inches.
They never attached the sash, per my request, because at this point I can’t even wear the dress and had to order a completely different dress that I needed to wear in 2 weeks! I went to pick up my dress as is and call it a day, expecting she would at least refund the money for the unused sash and the money she charged to “attach” it. Nope, she offered the most sarcastic “I’m sorry you’re not happy with what I did” and shrugged her shoulders. I didn’t even ask for a refund of the alterations, but at least be a decent human and refund the services you didn’t even perform!
Melissa was rude and insulting. She is absolutely the most selfish and unprofessional person I’ve ever done business with. She was featured on 90-day fiance’ and you can see the unprofessionalism for yourself in the episode.
After taking my new dress to another seamstress and speaking with a few other privately owned places in the surrounding area of Indianapolis, I quickly learned that “A Perfect Stitch” has some nasty ways of doing business and that I’m not alone………….it’s sad when other professionals warn you after the fact. I wish I would’ve done a bit more digging and research before stepping into that dreadful situation. I felt it necessary to write this review in hopes that I save another bride from this trap.
~unhappy and extremely dissatisfied customer with a ruined wedding dress
The staff was extremely helpful without being pushy. Love what they have to offer for dresses and for the alterations. Highly recommended
Every time I went in to try on my wedding dress I felt like the bride on top of a wedding cake. It was so much fun working with Melissa and my dress turned out perfect!
Let go and let Melissa.

y closed. She was able to guide me through what I expected my dress to look and feel like. My dress was the perfect length and was not too tight.

On a frigid Saturday in early 2014, my friend (bridesmaid) and I visited The Perfect Stitch on a whim after a friend of ours had Melissa make her a wedding dress last summer. That ...
day, I found the most beautiful dress and bought it - but the catch was that it wasn't what I wanted for my wedding. Over the course of the next few months, the gals at The Perfect Stitch transformed my dress into an absolute dream. They built out the top so it would fit me but still look like it was made that way, took the hem up to a tea length, and helped me find the perfect vintage (both actual vintage and newly made) accessories. They also helped me make some decisions and come back to see it again when I wasn't sure if I'd made the right ones. Whether you're looking for a wedding dress or need alterations on what you already have, I highly recommend The Perfect Stitch! They also have a stock of consignment dresses that is always changing, so it wouldn't hurt to visit a few times and keep looking. The affordability of getting a dress on consignment cannot be beat, and I couldn't have been happier with the final product. The little kids at my wedding thought I was a real princess :).
I cannot say enough good things about The Perfect Stitch. I had gained some weight and no longer fit into the "perfect" dress I had picked out. My Matron of Honor gave her old wedd...
ing dress to me and The Perfect Stitch altered it to make it look like it was MADE for me. Not to mention, all of this took place TWO WEEKS before my wedding. They are the sweetest group of ladies, truly there to help you and genuinely concerned about how you'll look on your special day. I will take everything to The Perfect Stitch to get altered from now on. They re-bustled my dress, took it up, took it in, and cleaned and pressed it along with my veil. Not only that, they took my Matron of Honor's dress in as well, within that two week time period. Everyone looked beautiful and they truly saved our day. Thank you, The Perfect Stitch!!!
Melissa is truly a brides' angel. I know for a fact that she lost as much sleep as I did fretting about my dress and working ceaselessly until I couldn't stop smiling and twirling ...
in my gown. She is amazingly talented and an all around pleasure to work with. She even altered my rehearsal dinner dress, when I came crying to her ONE day before, and she made it perfect. I would never dream of letting someone else besides Melissa touch the most important dress of my life!!
I got my alterations done at the perfect stitch. My first few appointments went great. The ladies were very sweet and helpful. I had my "final fitting" 3 days before my wedding whi...
ch I thought was cutting it a little close. They had me pick up my dress the day before my wedding which I didn't like. I still had to make sure it fit. The dress fit fine, but they had failed to alter my belt and it was huge. They said I could come back the next day and they'd have it ready for me. Really? Pick up part of my dress on my wedding day. Then, when I went to leave I noticed my veil wasn't with my dress. They were supposed to press it for me because I bought it there. The lady said she wasn't sure where it was so I'd have to pick it up the next day (my wedding day) when I came back for the belt. After my rehearsal dinner I noticed I had a missed call from them. They were accusing me of not ever leaving my veil with them. I bought it there and never took it with me!!! The message was rude. I sent my mom to pick up my belt and veil ON THE DAY OF MY WEDDING and they still didn't have my belt. They had lost it.
I took my dress here to altered and also had a flower girl dress made here as well. Although I loved the alternations to my dress and there were no problems there I felt that one ...
individual at the location provided somewhat bad service. When I went for a fitting I felt rushed into trying it on quickly in order for the lady to get to the next person. My flower girl dress experience was similar and I didn't find out until the very end that the dress wouldn't be ready until two days before the wedding. To me this was extremely nerve wrecking because my flower girl did not actually try on the finished product until the day of due to scheduling issues. Plus when I arrived to pick up the dress I had to wait because it wasn't finished.
The perfect stitch did the alterations on my wedding dress. They "recommended" that I get my zipper changed out for $68 - sadly, I fell for it even though I still do not believe it...
truly needed changed. I was charged $100 for a very small amount of crinoline under my dress that barely changed the look of the dress (if at all). My dress had not been touched when I showed up for my final fitting. They "accidentally" confused my dress with another customer's. Once I finally got to put my dress on for my final fitting - the work was rushed and less than satisfactory. She did "fix" the errors that were made, but caused us a lot of un-necessary time and grief. This may have been an isolated occurance, but because of it - I would not reccomend their services.
These two ladies really know what they're doing! My dress was beautiful and I felt like an absolute princess in it; and I have to thank The Perfect Stitch for it. They made the dre...

ble with communication. They missed 3 deadlines that they set to complete progress. I had a fitting where NO changes had been made (why even have me come in?). They left my dress alterations to the last minute (I actually picked up my dress 4 days before the wedding, and ordered my dress a year ahead of the wedding date!). Even suggesting at one point that we pay for a "rush" order if we wanted my dress done more than a weeek in advance of the wedding. We would have paid, but at that point had no trust they would complete the work. Instead, I actually bought a back up dress from a consignment shop. The dress did turn out, and I wore it and was very happy on my day, but the experience overall was stressful, and unnecessary. I would avoid hiring this shop.
